  1. The performance benefit is negligible since the BSAs are on disk which is around 1,000,000 clock cycles to access and adding in decompression from the archive is maybe ~1000 clock cycles. One million vs one million one thousand is nothing when dealing with billions of cycles a second and multi-cores. This BSAs performance thing is a hold over from the Oblivion days because of it's single core dependence.
  2. Dragon Shouts Overhaul makes shouting much more useful by increasing the damage they do as well as reducing the cool down time of every shout. It can be a bit overpowered with higher difficulty, I used it with Legendary difficulty and the first dragr overlord in Bleak Falls Barrow could kill me with one unrelenting force shout. I had to hide from it and shoot it with a bow over and over.
  3. TIL that you can enter the College of Winterhold by proving you are Dragonborn.
  4. Not sure which one works for vanilla without a neck seam, but I'd say that UNP is probably better for the vanilla body.
  5. It covers two, but they are not in default folders instead they are in SMIM folders, so the esp is required is my guess.
  6. That's it? Awesome. A mod can mark this as solved :P Okay
  7. I'd go with STEP, but disable ENB ingame with the Shift+F12 thing until after chargen and see if that works. If not then you could try reducing some textures with DDSopt. Your hardware is a bit older so you may want to go with performance versions of mods where ever possible and maybe sacrifice a few mods altogether for better performance.
  8. Use the version 4.0 for vanilla faces. 5.0 is dawnguard vamipres. All in one is not about the glamor look, but it is an improvement and the author of that mod made version 3.0 for people that want a glamorish look. There performance impact for the body mods comes from the textures you choose to use. If they are 2k body textures then it will cause a performance hit, but usually anything in the 1k area is about the same as vanilla.
  9. BCF files are Wrye Bash users. There is a certain way that mods need to be packaged for use with the Wrye Bash installer and Bain Conversion Files allow Wrye Bash users to put them in the correct format without having to do it manually.
  10. The intro is quite intensive and I believe if your FPS isn't over 30 then there can be timing issues for the carts that make them go all weird. You can try disabling ENB (Shift + F12) until after you finish the character creation. Also, it is okay to install Alternate Start - Live Another Life on top of STEP and use that to skip the carriage ride.
  11. Higher than baseline STEP means that you are probably hitting the 3.1GB limit. One of the problems with the Skyrim engine seems to be garbage collection, so assets from older cells are not being marked for overwrite by something new and then when it builds up to much the game hits the page file limit and crashes/freezes. This is common when using texture packs higher than the recommended STEP of 1k. You can get away with higher resolutions indoors, like caves and dungeons, but for the Skyrim world space, we strongly recommend 1k textures.
  12. So when you first install a mod you have to double click it or right click-> install, then it brings up a little dialog box with the name of the mod, and that is where you can change the name of the mod. The reason that MO asks if you want to replace or merge a mod in the first place, is that it is going to use the same name as something you already have installed. For mods that have patches, yes you can merge them if you want, but sometimes that can be hard to keep track of if you uninstall the mod and then have to reinstall it. You would have to remember that you need to reinstall both the main mod and the patch. It's all about what you feel comfortable with.
  13. If you are using the memory reduction feature which is the line ReduceSystemMemoryUsage = true, and you have excessive stuttering, then look in you enblocal.ini for the line DisableDriverMemoryManager. It is right under [Memory], and then change it to true if it is false or maybe flase if it is true to see if that helps.
  14. No, it's a mod by mod type of thing. I was just explaining that you have options. If you are updating a mod to the newest version then replace it. If you want to combine a couple of the archives into one folder in your MO directory then merge them. Since BoS is so big though it can get updates to one of the files like armor but not weapons and uniques, so you can just type in any name you want when installing the mods and that way MO will not try to merge or replace anything.
  15. I can confirm that there are chest textures in the new update and that it requires an esp. I still like the Detail Chests for the deeper color of the wood.
  16. Amazing. I am going to try this out when I get home but from what I've seen, it looks like many users (including AMD) are reporting positive effects. On the ENB forums I saw that Phinix has a brand new GTX780, so he's probably having fun tweaking his profile with that new hardware, which is why it's so up to date. Anyways, there is something people should know if you still have a bit of stuttering, especially with AMD cards, you should read this: That line is under [Memory] in enblocal.ini and some profiles have it true, others false, so just be aware.
  17. Or you can just cancel the install and then try again but name the files something else, for Book of Silence you could do something like BoS - Weapons, BoS - Armors.... you get the point. Then if Cabal updates only one of the files you just need to replace that file.
  18. ENb has already had another update to v0.198 with better AMB support and improved memory reduction. PNENB has already updated if anyone wants to try it out.
  19. You wait for it to finish then save your game, preferably indoors, that is SkyUI setting up everything for sorting your inventory and to make the new favs menu work better.
  20. Yeah just click them, and sometimes the files that require SKSE does not detect it, but you can install it anyways. MO uses a virtual directory and sometimes cannot detect everything in your Skyrim folder, but it all works out after you get used it.
  21. Trying to understand a graphic artist is almost as hard as understanding your girlfriend. Just go with it man.
  22. Click the esp tab in MO and see if all the plugins are clicked, if the Dawnguard.esm is clicked then just ignore the message, if not then click it.
  23. Wait you uninstalled MO? If you did you have to install it again and all the archives need to be in the download folder in your MO directory. Otherwise I'm not really sure what you mean by only having the RAR archives.
  24. You could disable it in Skyrim.ini and/or SkyPrefs.ini by adding iPresentInterval=0. I forget which INI needs the change to turn off vsync, google it. Then you can just use the ENB vsync.
  25. With MO you need to add the executable for BOSS because MO uses a virtual directory. If you run BOSS normally then it will not recognize all the mods you have, so you must run it through MO. To add BOSS simply click the button on the top right with two gears, then type BOSS for the name, for the binary navigate to the BOSS executable (where ever you installed BOSS), and then run BOSS from MO.
