  1. Smart Cast by NeoRunek https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/43123//? I just tried out this mod and it adds a nice gameplay mechanic to magic casting. Basically you can adjust certain spells to be autocast based on condition that you set through MCM, so you don't have to enter the menu or favs and switch, cast, enter menu and switch back. I had a Stoneflesh spell that autocasts every time I was in combat and drew a 1 hand weapon and you can also set a delay on the spell when drawing in combat, but it is in 5 second intervals. Also, had muffle autocast when sneaking and drew my bow. You can also set healing or other spells to autocast based on health, magika, or stamina levels. Really liked the whole set up. It does use scripts, but the author said that they are very light and the amount of scripts depends on the amount of autocasts you set up in MCM, so only set up 2 or 3 and it shouldn't hurt your game at all.
  2. Do you have more than 1GB VRAM? I believe that is what limits OP in this regard.
  3. The new law doesn't affect me, but I live on the border and there are so many uninsured, so my county tax burden will drop now that sick people don't have to go to the ER where everything is triple the price. In Texas everything is tied to property taxes so if you own a home you get shafted every year, and somehow during this crazy housing recession my property value has gone up every year for five years. I used to have federal gov't insurance when I worked at White Sands and it was so good and cheap, less than $100 a month. Now I get the Texas state employee BS which is double the money for less care, but I guess this is the land of Jesus and you know how he hated cheap healthcare. Alright I'll stop my rant before I get to carry away, at least my TA can get covered now for only 45 bucks a month.
  4. Okay, I'll start with SkyRe, it is a rather comprehensive overhaul of many aspects of the gameplay, so if you use it then you will need many patches. The Skyrim Revisted guide is a bit outdated, but Neovalen has been putting together a new guide called Skyrim Revisted: Legendary Edition that is probably better to use, but not complete. Yes cleaning your mods regardless is a good idea. I've never had problems with Alternate Start around Riverwood and last few updates that were made seem to make the mod as stable as ever. To reduce VRAM usage you might need to optimize your textures, which is quite a task on its own. Since you have a 1GB card, I'd say that reducing the size of your normal maps to half the size of the color maps would be the best bet for saving VRAM. We have a DDSopt guide that you can follow to figure out how to that, and Kelmych is really good at answering any questions in our DDSopt threads.
  5. The beginning sequence is very intensive, so you might try Alternate Start and see if you can get into the world space and run around without crashes. If you have success running around Skyrim without a bunch of crashes then it is just that the beginning is pushing your system to hard.
  6. Are you using high res textures for everything? If so maybe try Skyrim Performance Monitor to see if you get crashes around ~3.1GB RAM. System specs would help out a bit. Also, if you are using ENB or some post process injectors would help too.
  7. Well, you could use 1280x720 then supersample at 1560x1440 instead. I think there is somewhere in ENB to force resolutions if your monitor supports it. Stop using edgeAA with SMAA and just use SMAA on Ultra and the only ENB AA that should be true is sub pixel AA. EdgeAA is not my flavor or tea so to speak, so I don't use it. SMAA is probably the best MLAA technique, but not the overall best for AA if you have the power. I'd like to see the injector update to the latest SMAA version to see if it is a bit better, maybe one day.
  8. Well, 2x supersampling is like 4x the pixels so it should kill performance. One thing you can do is lower your screen resolution and then use supersampling to try and find a balance.
  9. Nah man, it says right in the description on the ENB download page. Only pre .119 can do it and those presets suck compared to what we have now. Maybe try the supersampling in ENB, just be warned that it can mess up screenshots, not sure if that matters.
  10. Yeah, you can do it, but it will force deferred rendering to turn off. That will stop ENB from using certain effects.
  11. I think that newer Nvidia drivers can cause this issue too, try the 314 driver, all the 320 drivers might have the issue for some.
  12. There is a post here that you can use. It is where I learned how to do it.
  13. Yes, all those together will cause issues, but I've played quite a bit with that setup and had only a few crashes. Maybe about one every 90 minutes.
  14. This and lore friendly monster mod made me kinda think back to all the crazy stuff roaming around in other TES games. It is almost like Skyrim is the game that wasn't lore friendly to TES lore by leaving a lot of this stuff out. Anyways, use this with SkyTest, New Dragons, Immersive Patrols, and AV to have some really crazy times in the open world.
  15. This thread gives me an idea for a pack. STEP: Diamonds in the Rough - All lesser known mods that are a great compliment to the STEP guide and promoted by our community.
  16. Vurt just updated the mod again, so if he is back at work on SFO like the last time he decided to put time into it, then we should wait until he is done. He did about 50 updates in a two month span last time and it was way to hard to keep up with him. Guy is beast when he gets going.
  17. PMT - Phenderix Magic Transcended - This is my go to magic mod and basically makes a new magic system. There are boss battles and bunch of other stuff since Skyrim magic is so boring. LSB BattleHammers -Â This is such an under appreciated weapon mod. It adds battle hammers to regular weapons like steel and iron. Then it also adds a bunch of unique weapons are dungeons and caves, most can be found by picking up a book outside the Inns. Plus, one of the weapons is called Silent Scream, one of my favorite Slayer songs, so yeah. There is a big chest with all the weapons hidden in Whiterun, but just don't use it if you don't like cheating. Enchanting Redux - This mod lets you enchant the mages robes with the same level as the ones you find or purchase. The vanilla is like 10% reduced spell casting with 50% regen and the regen never gets above 50%, so this lets you basically do a master level robe. Matys Mithril - Adds a really nice port of Oblivion's Mithril Armor into the game. Same guy did the Bosmer Armor Pack, but he has a few mods that aren't as popular as that one. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31725/? Dragon Shouts Overhaul - (link button stop working) This makes shouts more powerful since most of them suck. If you play on high difficulty, the two highest, then this will make draugr overloads very powerful with shouts and they will kill you with one shout at < level 20. Recharge is also reduced, makes the game more fun to a Dovah. I'm glad someone mentioned TwoRings, that is such a little tweak that was needed. Armor Weapons Degrade should be recommended for the old school RPG pack, so much fun. Also, not quite unknown, but I can't stop pushing Less Intrusive HUD II.
  18. Season 2 is so good, you should have stuck around. It really ends with a bang!
  19. Oh man, I dvr'd the entire marathon leading up to the finale. Now I can watch it all again, for the fifth or sixth time, I've lost count. Makes me wish I hadn't seen the finale of Dexter, what a bunch of crap.
  20. What is the deal with chests? The detailed chests textures cannot overwrite the chests of SMIM due to the new meshes being pretty different. I like the darker SMIM texture a lot, but the lighter one is not my favorite. Also, the new bone piles are really for extreme, but there is a less demanding option that is really nice and should be recommended option.
  21. I think we may need a Pack Author designation for the wiki to grant permission to people for certain packs they are authors of. I think that the current system that only a few people can edit the main guide is proper and allows tech, z, and willy to maintain STEP quite well. With packs maybe whoever starts the pack becomes the one who edits that pack and that person can grant permission to others to edit that pack. It would help when we get to 2.3.
  22. Remove the period at the end of the link.
  23. It can improve performance, but the cost of that performance is screen tearing. Also, you will get massive FPS spikes will in caves and dungeons which will send stuff flying around the room the second you touch it. I guess that part of the guide may a bit old, as we get more info on things sometimes pages on our wiki don't get the attention they deserve.
  24. Using vsync is more for screen tearing and physics that FPS limit. Yes it will limit at 60 FPS, but that is the highest that the engine should ever run anyways. We actually don't recommend turning off Skyrim's vsync, our outlook with INIs is that less is more. In my experience ENB vsync caused other bugs, so I stopped using it, but that was a while ago. I never tried hardware vsync, I usually just set it to Adaptive in Nvidia Inspector.
  25. Look turning off the game vsync in your Skyrim INIs is NOT recommended at all. And any FPS above 60 will cause you issue with physics and timed events. Skyrim is designed to be played at 30-60 FPS period, the engine becomes unstable and will cause issues.
