GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
EssArrBee replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Well, your basic understanding is about to hit a learning curve. Just look at the tags, find the subrecords that match and then see if a mod changes that subrecord, so it would need that tag. Even if it only changes it once it needs the tag. Even if it's a mergeable plugin it needs the tag. Also, you may have to look at what the tag is since it's listed for Oblivion and kinda apply it to Fallout. They are almost completely identical, but a bit of tweaking is required. There are two tags to be aware of for Fallout not on the list. Weapon Mods, if you see weapon mod changes listed for a weapon then it needs the tag to merge the mesh/texture paths. Deflst, the FormID list category, if you expand it and there are records where FormIDs are removed, then it needs that tag. If you run into a problem then ask me. NVR3 is good starting point. I have Body-F, Body-M, Eyes, Hair, and NPCFaces, already so the rest need to looked at. -
Mod Organizer & packed BSAs - Two Practical Questions
EssArrBee replied to mikegray's question in Mod Organizer Support
No you can't unpack some of the mods unless you do it manually. With something like Vilja, just put the textures in a folder with the same patch as Vilja's face textures and install them. No need to unpack the BSA if you know the texture path of the faces. Remember that files loaded later win. Archives will have better performance and have been that way since we went to multithread CPUs. You're new mods and higher ugrids are the culprits since more is required to load into memory. The different in performance with an SSD between loose and archived files is not noticeable to a human though. -

LOOT masterlist is more about applying bash tags to plugins that need them. Do you know how to look at a plugin with FNVEdit and use the list of bash tags on the WB advanced readme to apply tags? Both FNV and F3 if you have both games. -
Hmm... I've never actually had this bug. Do you have a save around that time that you can load and see it is reoccurring? It almost sounds like an ILS. After it happens maybe check your nvac.log and if there are more than three entries report post it in the nvac nexus thread and tell Queue what happened. He seems to just keep adding fixes that no one ever knew could be fixed. Do you have any additional mods installed?

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
EssArrBee replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Hey, KiCHo666 got back to me and said he may re-upload his mods soon. He didn't give any reason for deletion though, so until then the mods will remain hidden. I've also started thinking about a couple things. A LOOT masterlist contributor contacted Kelmych about C&PD switching to LOOT. I'd like to do the same, but bash tags had not been updated. This is also problem for F3, so it seems like an opportunity to switch both guides at the same time. Bashed Patch is essential and it would require a separate page longer than the guide to patch the game with FNVEdit without it, so if the LOOT masterlist isn't up-to-date, then it is a deal breaker to me. There are just so many meshes, scripts, and fixes that do not get forwarded without it, whether others see or not doesn't matter because I know it's there, and it eats away at me. One of those things where I know it's there so I can't not see it. So, I'm going to do what I can to switch over ASAP. The other thing is additional patching that I'm afraid must be done since the Wrye team is starting to look at Skyrim Bashed Patching stuff, so I'm willing to bet money that they aren't going to put much love into the Fallout games for a bit other than combining the 5 games into one program. That is a welcome edition and Skyrim could use some bashed patch love (Graphics, Locations, and sound records anybody?), so it will also make Wrye much easier to install. Either way I will still need to do some additional patching. There are a few mods that will need me to put instructions to creating a patch with FNVEdit in the guide, which opens up more user error. The other option is that I create a bunch of patches and most of them are mergeable to bashed patch and you get them all off of one page I start on the nexus. PN, YUP, NVR3 (in testing), Rotface, and bunch others I can't remember right now all need from a bit to a bunch of patching. What do you guys think, supplemental page with instructions to create your own patch or nexus page with premade patches? -
Help Improve Pack Creation!
EssArrBee replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
I agree that they should retain everything they currently have but there should be some additions the form. With packs we move from a vanilla type site to a almost anything site. We need mod pages move in that direction, but keep their ability to service the guide. -

Yeah, but Glocks are actually usable in the real world. Desert Eagles are pretty much for blowing up cars or derailing trains. That guy makes the TTW Interiors Project and is an admin on the TTW forums, so he probably never uninstalls it. -

Well, patches can be remade as well, plus CASM is an NVSE mod, so no patching required. And it already had MCM, so no need to add that to the plugin name. I don't know what's up with KiCHo666 ATM, so I'll just comment out his mods so they are invisible. The three mods he took down are all meshes so maybe he's doing a combined pack. That would be nice actually, I'm all for combining mods together to lessen install time on users, which reminds me of another project I've neglected for far to long... -

I hate when mod authors change the name of their plguin so BOSS doesn't recognize it anymore. CASM should be put where the old CASM went, so put it right after DarnUI. I think it's DarnUINV.esp and it's toward the top of the list. I thought I mentions to tick all the boxes where there were plugins. If one of the settings on the left has a plugin listed on the right then it needs to be ticked and the plugins need to be ticked. The only exception is the FalloutNV.esm for Names. If you don't tick all those boxes then the game won't be patched and you'll get some weird results or stuff will be missing. -
I'm getting a page break automatically and I don't want one. I think that is just the nature or the template in general.
-
It will just use the original mesh instead of this mod's mesh. No problem when you do that.

Same author as Collision Mesh Overhaul. He seems to be deleting his mods or he got hacked and someone is doing it for him. -

If the red text at the bottom of the install screen is there then it will not install correctly. You have to choose a data directory as the top level. The first thing you see should always be the textures, meshes, sounds... folders and the plugins (if there are any). If you install a mod without choosing the right directory then you will have a greyed out mod in the left pane of MO. That means that there is no readable date by the game because there were improper folders or something. -
Where exactly is parameter 3 going to show? Also, is there a built in page break after the videotemplate?

Probably, if the HRDLC BSAs are packed and put into MO. If they are in the actual data folder then probably not. 40GB is tiny though so any space you save is probably good just for that reason alone.

I think you have one of the installers turned off because I get an error trying to install it without choosing the data folder. MO can't see two level deep, only one. -
It isn't to people with SSDs, but there is a difference if you work out the math. Also, the benefit of saving space.

Mod Organizer warning for left pane
EssArrBee replied to gpthree's question in Mod Organizer Support
No don't use that. It detects there is the potential for a problem, but not that there 100% is a problem. The STEP Team has does enough to make sure there isn't. -
If you repack the BSAs you need to use the archive.exe included with CK in your Skyrim folder. DDSopt and BSAopt do not do it correctly with the latest BSA version.

Yeah, I should have instructions to install separately. -
It looks okay to me. The gate was tucked against a mountain, so it isn't something that should be a problem and the NPC ran around it okay.

STEP - DDSopt - 4_mod_sorting.bat
EssArrBee replied to GunerX's question in General Skyrim LE Support
As long as everything else is okay, empty folders are fine. Windows can be weird about moving files around and leaving empty folders, but as long as files are in the right place it shouldn't be a problem.
