  1. This might not be a total solution unless you do the same for the HD2K and SRO files as well (run only them through TPC). That is the only way you're going to be guaranteed to have the HD2K/SRO and their matching parallax files paired up. In fact, you could just include HD2K, SRO, and the three optional parallax mods in TPC. Essentially you'd be combining these textures for perfect match-ups and just substitute the new combined folder into STEP at the end of the conflicting graphics section.
  2. Thread isn't off track from what I've read. The idea I presented was just another possible cause of what is causing the issue and everyone has been discussing it. Z's suggestion is also to measure the VRAM and system RAM using the STEP benchmarks. I think the 4GB limitation could be a very real possibility of the cause of the issue. Now, the only real way to test if this is a RAM limitation issue is to have others heavily mod and use RAM heavy mods to push their systems to and beyond what you have done. If everyone gets a crash between 3 and 3.5GB, then it would be safe to say that we've found the limit to modding Skyrim when it comes to RAM useage. That was me. We don't mark anything as solved unless it is truly solved. If it remains unclear or unknown what caused the issue, then it will not be marked as solved. Even if it's no longer being discussed. I'd like to point out, if it hasn't already, for anyone coming into this thread and reading up on it, that this is not a STEP issue as hundreds are running pure STEP without incident.
  3. Looks like I sparked up quite a discussion! :D It only popped up in my head last night... "hasn't any thought of the RAM limitation with x86 architecture?" It just made since in my mind that any programs that passes this limit and was build on this architecture is going to have issues. Since Skyrim was build essentially with Windows XP era technology (DX9, etc) then this limitation should also apply to Skyrim. Keeping that logic in mind, if Skyrim processes are trying to allocation more than 4GB total memory, you could expect issues to arise. (CTD, freezing, etc). EDIT: Who marked this thread as solved because the discussion is clearly continuing and unclear of what is causing the real issue. I'm taking it off. EDIT: I know see Viking did it in the title. @ Viking, The admins or moderators (myself) will mark the thread as solved when the issues have clearly be resolved. We have a special "pre-tag?" for this so there is no need to edit the title to mimic it.
  4. All good questions, but I would expect a game to crash or freeze if it had to start using page memory. VRAM is fast. RAM is much slower and causes stuttering in-game. However, page memory is extremely slow (especially on HDD)...slow enough that if RAM causes stuttering, a crash or freeze wouldn't come as a surprise for a game that called for something that was stored in page memory.
  5. That is true for Skyrim, but if you check out the other benchmarks you can see it really pulling out ahead; especially at the higher resolutions. Crysis 3 is impressive as that is a massively graphics heavy game. I'm assuming that Call of Duty and Battlefield are also CPU heavy games as those benchmarks are similar to Skyrim's.
  6. Awesomeness!!!
  7. I would expect this behavior at closer to 4GB because of the game being 86x architecture (4GB limitations), but not 3GB. However, searching on Google for a bit revealed similar cases on 86x architecture with failures around 3.5GB. This 86x architecture limitation could very well be the issue unless it's been ruled out...I haven't read the whole thread.
  8. Those were my thoughts as well. Just a beast of a card. I like that he states that this card isn't for everyone and is aimed at enthusiast and those running really high resolutions or multi-monitors. I couldn't imagine this thing SLI-ed into a 3 or 4 card setup...
  9. [video=youtube] Thoughts?
  10. Hey guys/girls, I got this today in my inbox. Sign up...you never know! (need a facebook account) The Triple Threat Sweepstakes by AMD https://www.facebook.com/Newegg?v=app_198028816891495&app_data=entry_id%3D19267764%26gaReferrerOverride%3D
  11. However the images and instructions were set up at the time are the settings I used. I have not ran through DDSopt since the guide was overhauled. I think I need to completely reinstall STEP actually. There have been a lot of changes and mod updates since my last 2.2.1 install. That's the other reason I haven't tested any new mods under testing right now. I have the next three days off and will be moving to a new place across town part of that time, but I'll try to fit this in and DDSopt SFO again while I'm at it.
  12. I haven't tried it personally, but it looks like it's one of those things that "sometimes works and sometimes doesn't". You might try to set you multisample (in launcher or INI) to 2 and then try it. I think the setting of "1" in the INI is off. Settings for on should be: 2, 4, or 8. (I think). If it's set to off, then there is nothing to "enhance" or "override".
  13. As long as TPC still uses Parallax as an optional (which I think it does), you can run it with only the parallax textures. This should result in a "Combined" folder with the specific Parallax files picked from each optional parallax mod (HD2K, Markarth, and SRO).
  14. Performance hit is the same thing I mentioned as a negative for the INI tweaks as Basline STEP is already pushing 1GB card users to their limits. Taking these words (second highlight) into consideration, SP's mod perfectly matches the STEP Mandate.
  15. Interesting. If that is the case, the INI tweaks could just be added to the INI tweaks already present in STEP. I suppose a good comparison will need to be done. Though, knowing how they both work...I would be more inclined to use SP's as increasing the distance of anything usually comes coupled with a performance loss; whether that be FPS, VRAM, or both. Anything that is going to increase the FPS loss is not going to go well with my system as I'm already pushing the limit with SkyRealism installed.
  16. I do believe this mod covers much more than just moss, which seems to be the case with the link you posted.
  17. Moved the multiple errors and duplicate posts to the dump.
  18. RCRN 3.6 also has several night settings to choose from. I personally like it better than CoT.
  19. Thanks, I'll add a notice to the page.
  20. You're welcome. Some information about searches for the next time: If you search for "glowing eyes" using the Entire Post option, you'll get this thread and the thread I linked. Regardless of the titles, browse all threads. Browse and scroll through the pages until you come to your highlighted search terms. (Any time you search, the terms you enter 'glowing eyes' will be highlighted in the posts). Doing this you would have found the solution. Doing this also frees up the staff's time to help others or work on other things rather to re-answering questions already asked. So be sure you search all the threads that pop up for the solution before asking. PS: I'm not saying this in any negative way. Just teaching! :)
  21. This has been discussed before. Please use the search before posting: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1774&pid=24899#pid24899 Open console, ~ key. Type in: player.addspell 000f71d1 player.removespell 000f71d1
  22. It is simply easier to "group" the mods into their respectful sections. This is more organization and to keep proper installation order. You don't have to do this; however, be sure to follow the proper installation order for the mod in the guide. To be completely safe, install the mods in the order that they are shown on the guide and you'll have nothing to worry about. You can also group your mods however you like. I use markers like you have and rename the dividers to the section of the guide like such: https://i.imgur.com/0FS8YMG.png As you can see the markers are renamed after the guide sections and the mods are renamed with numbers in front of them (01..., 02..., 03..., etc). This maintains the sections and proper installation order. But my mod naming scheme is custom so that I can see a lot of information at a quick glace. With that glace I know the section the mod is in in the guide, the installation order of the mod, the nexus name of the mod, and the version of the mod. I'll be adding back the nexusID of the mod later as well.
  23. My only complaint would be, instead of "recommendations" on the settings, you are telling users to use a specific setting which isn't going to apply to all users. This is why I suggested to use the NVIDIA Inspector Guide as a reference on the OP of the Wiki Editors To-do List thread. I give users an explanation of what the setting does, provide a recommended setting, and provide information (where it's not common sense) as the effect of setting (better performance, FPS loss, etc). I have also provided performance data for most of the settings so users can better make an informed decision on the best setting for them. Telling users to "use this setting" was done very rarely in that guide. This guide is nothing but "use this setting", which is potential for issues with more troubleshooting. "I used your AMD Guide and my game is now really slow. Please help!"... You guys have made it much more useful, but this guide needs to be more informative and geared towards recommendations rather than "set it to this and forget it" or we're going to be getting more troubleshooting issues from users. I would do it, but I'm a NVIDIA user which is why I spent a lot of time writing the Inspector Guide with plenty of details and information.
