  1. Yeah, that Guide is still under construction and has been put on hold until this next release comes out.
  2. No, I think it's new textures. Watch the video in full HD. You can see the detail very well. Not even close to an upscale. EDIT: Added video to OP.
  3. If screenshots are anything...this one better than Gamwich's. Gamwich's focuses on performance with a little detail enhancement. This mod is a complete re-texture in the vanilla style. I usually side with Gamwich, but I doubt I would this time.
  4. Okay, guys. I'm back on Windows 7 for a while today as there are some things I need to get done. I'll be switching back over to Windows 10 this evening for some more testing.
  5. Discussion thread: GIANT by Kajuan Wiki Link HD vanilla re-texture of the Giants. This looks perfect for STEP. Marked for Testing. Currently not covered by any STEP mods. Compares Vanilla >> GIANT
  6. Might be worth looking into then.
  7. Realistic Water Two provides this so no need for this mod.
  8. This is perhaps what was happening with the keyboard and mouse issue I was having, though I found another way around it.
  9. Word of caution to those thinking about a dual-boot. Windows 10 boot screen will take control of the mouse and keyboard and will not release it when booting into Windows 7. To fix, change the default OS to Windows 7, load it, reset your computer and then when the default boot loader takes over and you choose to boot into Windows 7 you should have control of your mouse and keyboard again.
  10. After some testing the game runs good, but I have some unstable parts. I am getting a CTD after some time playing and I can't really narrow it down since there are some aspects of the setup that are outdated, like the STEP Patch. So narrowing it down will be difficult. I'm going to copy over my setup from Windows 7 as I'm getting some other oddities like LODs not loading right unless I get closer to them. So copying my setup from Windows 7 will be my best bet as I've tweaked that setup to near perfection. I'll report back once I've done this and have played a bit more.
  11. About as customizable as Windows 8 which is mainly limited to changing colors and the theme. I can see where you're saying it seems flat, but I personally like it. It feels more modern, imo, and modern is one of the design styles I like. You might be able to get it closer to a Windows 7 look with a theme, but I haven't looked into it. As for the darker theme with contrasting colors, well...I love it. I have my Windows 7 set up to much of the same darkened theme. I find it easier on the eyes for long time frames where you're sitting looking at the screen.
  12. May I ask why? Because typing in step-project.com takes you to a blank page. I figured it would at least redirect you to the forums.
  13. Same here. Yesterday when I was installing STEP:Core on Windows 10 for testing every other download would fail.
  14. That's not the same as putting an Xbox game in your PC and playing it so don't get your hopes up. The streaming I read about. Basically, buy an Xbox and stream the game to your PC over your home network. It's basically going to be a clone of what Nvidia already has with Nvidia GRID and the Shield. Nothing new or innovative here. That's been my experience too. It "feels" faster than Windows 7 even and is very close to XP speed if not matching it. I don't mind the new style on everything. The start menu I miss a bit, but it's manageable.
  15. I'm stealing this of the ENBSeries INI Guides when I finally get my mojo back and feel like working on them again. The main reason I stopped was because of the new release.
  16. I have not heard that one, DY. Technically, it is possible for those with Blu-ray players. Microsoft world have to simply implement the software.
  17. I did read that somewhere on a Microsoft page. However, I agree with their decision on that. If you think about it, most users of the Home edition are everyday users who aren't tech savvy. It would make sense to force updates on these systems. I've had many computer repair visits while freelancing which simply required me installing the Windows updates to fix the issues they were experiencing. Most tech savvy users already have versions of Windows 7/8 which would get them the Pro upgrade. The only ones that don't most likely have pre-built systems. As for losing Media Center, that isn't any loss in my opinion. VLC. DVD play back...again, who is using the built in Windows players? The rest aren't really losses, but rather replacements. EDIT: On another note, I finished installing STEP:Core. I have yet to run the game though. Have to turn in for the night. The only issue I ran into was the Bashed Patch log didn't display, saying "page not found", after building the Patch in WB. The Patch built fine, but the log didn't display.
  18. Oh, that I knew. I'll update the OP. @Alt That sounds like a marketing scheme rather than a security feature, which makes more sense when you look at it from that angle. By the sounds of the secure boot bit, the name brand manufacturers could possibly leave it up to the user since they don't reliable on those same certifications to be able to install an OEM version of Windows 10. As for this being the last version of Windows...possibly, but I would suspect they would eventually start development of their next platform, most likely rebranded Windows. That practice is very common in many industries.
  19. Several of these comments sound like speculation and rumors of the gossip mill. Please provide links to reputable sources when quoting this stuff so that rumors don't take over the conversation in this thread. As for the programs being called "apps", that started with Windows 8 and was a result of aligning more with the mobile industry.
  20. On the Xbox subject and this is going off topic a bit... Microsoft was 100% completely retarded when they required an Xbox Live subscription in order to do anything on the internet on the Xbox 360. Want to watch Netflix? Oh, I'm sorry. Your Live subscription isn't active. W.T.F!!!! :O_o: I can't watch something I paid for because I haven't paid the middle man?!?!? Maybe Microsoft fixed this on the Xbox One. I don't know. Unless you can't live without Halo, save yourself and get a Playstation. Sony doesn't require you to pay them to use the services you've already paid for and the Playstation has a record of being more reliable and more powerful. As for the "junk" (intergrated services), you can turn most of it off or download and use your favorite alternatives. So far I have yet to find a program that has bugged out on Windows 10. It's all running smoothly. I'll keep the OP updated with a list of confirmed software since I'm not testing a lot.
  21. Today I will be setting up STEP:Core under Windows 10 and testing the programs as I go. Need coffee...
  22. Updated OP with info about Project Spartan.
  23. Okay, got my dual boot up and running. Now to install everything...yay! haha...not!
  24. JawZ might be able to help. He's pretty busy though, but I'll notify him of this thread and your ELE problem. He'll likely pop in whenever he has some time.
