Skyrim Performance Monitor - SlimDX library not found
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Aaah, maybe I didn't run it as Admin! I run most of my apps in that mode, but perhaps I forgot to set it for the newly installed SPM? I'll check when I'm back from work! Sadly, it's only 11:20 AM here... -
[STEP 2.2.7] Mining ores doesn't give anything
rootsrat replied to lrtcl's question in General Skyrim LE Support
How old was the original save? Did you installed/uninstalled/reinstalled many mods whilst playing the game from that save? It may be a corrupted save, as you suspect. -

Please provide load order from BOSS. -
I don't like the idea. Not immersive or realistic at all, I prefer to read books on my own in Skyrim.

Przemek here - or Bart for the sake of pronunciation ;) - originally from Poland, living in UK since 2003. I'm 33 years old and rising. I have plenty of hobbies, video gaming being the biggest one, close to addiction in fact. I'm also into mountain biking, playing a djebme drum (member of Spontan Drumming Group, we play occasional gigs locally), arts in general: I'm a writer and poet, and also an amateur photographer. I'm a member of Barking Man art group, which is former Polish InvadARTs Art Collective. We organise 2-3 free art exhibitions per year. I also run one of the the biggest Polish literature forums for poets and writers and online arts & cultural magazine Via Appia. I help my girlfriend run the formal side of her clothing business, I've also got interest in global politics and sociology. I also love reading books, "The Witcher" saga being one of my all time favourites! Not sure if you knew, but the video game series is based on books :) Oh, I also am amateur music producer and it so happens it's mostly ambient - you can check it out here. As you can see I'm quite busy practically all the time, if not one project, then another takes up all my free time, hence my presence on STEP forums is quite random, depending on what I'm involved in with other projects. I browse STEP most often when I'm at work :D - I'm a Test Analyst working in Solutions Delivery department in a financial institution (stockbrokers).

Skyrim Performance Monitor - SlimDX library not found
rootsrat posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
I'm having trouble running Skyrim Performance Monitor. I get the following error message when I start the application: SlimDX is definitely installed on my system. I never had that problem before, I was able to run SPM. I run 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate edition. Any ideas? -
Or moderators :P

It's done by disabling gamecolourcorrection in effects.fx file. Didn't noticed that much of a change, but then again I wasn't using RV a lot Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk Yeah, that one :P I was typing from memory :D

DROPPED Candle Lanterns of the North (by Chesko)
rootsrat replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yes, as there is no resources for the scripts, so they won't trigger properly or this is my understanding at least. My knowledge about scrips is near zero though, so I as well may be wrong. -
I used to like it A LOT, despite it being a bit too summery in exteriors. The yellowish filter didn't fit cold north very well IMHO, but the interiors are very well done indeed! What's important for my playthrough is that night vision works with it too. I recently swapped it for Aiyen's SkyLight ENB though, much better performance and (due to my suggestions :D) it's blue-ish filter in exteriors better suits cold environment. But yeah, UC is a really good preset indeed.

I didn't mean to say it is a guaranteed way. I just said it's a good thing to have. Also, it's more like 1 Freeze/h. I barely ever a CTD. But again, I call that stable for myself. Others may call that unstable. Either way, I'm happy with it. I have just had stability success by removing script heavy mods in the past so I figured removing this one might help. That's all. It's defo good to have that enabled, yeah. And as long as you're happy with your game, nothing else matters! :) -

"clearinvalidregistrations" is by no means a guaranteed way of cleaning a save file from redundant scripts. The ONLY 100% safe solution is go back to an earlier save without the mod in questions. I also wouldn't call 1 CTD/h a stable game ;) -
Fair enough for the big patch for Nexus page clarity and simplicity. +1 Adding detailed instructions... That's A LOT of editing work on Wiki, some mods require tons of records to be corrected. Not saying STE:Core/Extended specifically, but in general - I don't know what its the case with S:C and S:E. Plus, this would surely create more unnecessary support requests from less experienced users (I don't think that saying For Experienced Users Only will stop the less exp. to try and do it anyway :D ). We'd be better off providing the patches for download.

That's really useful information, deathneko, as I'll be starting a new playthrough soon. Can you point me out to the relevant thread? Or - are you aware of any ETA on the new version? -

I'll raise that with Admins, it's a logical suggestion.

I would agree with Smile here. It's not a support request, it's a mod recommendation. All due respect, moving back ;)

Also, we could have dedicated STEP Dropbox account with a changelog document for this sort of thing, so that there is always the latest version available with changes audit.

Agreed. I have it installed now, while I'm testing my new build and I'm really impressed! -
SKYRIMLE Death Alternative - Your Money or Your Life by BralorMarr
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I briefly tested it last night and wasn't happy. Bear in mind it was a unsafe run, i.e. I loaded up a save with different mod set up - some scripted mods were unistalled etc. I used a lot of console commands in the process, being on TGM (was testing Alduin's Wall quest). I ran across Imperial patrol, so I turned TGM off and attacked them. When my HP went to 0, my character just froze in place, standing, in the middle of an animation. I couldn't move or anything. The guards kept smashing me and my follower. After some time my char fell on the ground, and the guards kept slicing my poor body. The screen faded to black at some point, then came back and I was still on the ground, with the guards attacking me. At that point I reloaded an earlier save, as I couldn't move and the guards wouldn't go away. The patrol was from Immersive Patrols mod. As I've said I used a lot of console commands to get me there, and the save wasn't stable for sure, as there were scripts and mods missing, and few new ones installed - it was only a quick test. -
General stores. Belethor in Whiterun or Riverwood Trader always have some.

I think it somehow converts real time you spend reading a book into game time. You can open a book for 2 minutes and X amount of hours will pass in game, but if you open the same book and keep it opened for 5 minutes, Y hours will pass in game (Y being more than X). I like this idea too, the faster you read in real life the faster your character reads in game :)
