GUIDE W3R: The Wild Hunt Revisited (Witcher 3)
rootsrat replied to Neovalen's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
Just in time for my new 1080 arriving this weekend! :D -
I have a solid base now, it's missing some crafting mods to compliment CCO and stuff like Frostfall, Camping etc. I think I have all the mods that require starting a new game now, so I'm going to start a playthrough - I really really want to just start playing now - I've spent nearly a week on this build after over 1 year break from Skyrim! :)

Star Citizen in a must watch 13 minute nutshell
rootsrat replied to redirishlord's topic in General Game Discussion
The thing that worries me about SC combat is the mouse-aim mode. Even if they do release dedicated controlled I can't see it being more accurate than good old mouse. It trivialises combat IMHO and makes it very FPS-like, which in turn makes the impression the combat is more arcade than simulation. Not a fan of that solution at all must say. -
Skyrim Remastered and its impact on SRLE / Extended
rootsrat replied to caiuscosades's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I'd say it's a only decent thing to do after all these years of modders and mod users supporting the game and making sure it doesn't die... -
It's just a lot of data for the 32-bit Skyrim engine to load up into the game, that is all.

Hi! I've had over a year break from Skyrim and only recently reinstalled it. I have STEP Extended setup working, so now it's time for some personal flavour and touch to my modlist. Back in a day I was using SkyRe and enjoyed it. Are there any new good skills/perks overhauls that are worth checking or is SkyRe still the one to go for? And 2nd question: which od the STEP Packs are up to date? Thanks!

DynDOLOD causes ILS on new game start
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ha! It was exactly that! I didn't created SKSE directory either. Thanks :) -
As per subject. STEP Extended installed to the T and after selecting New Game - I get an ILS on the Alduin loading screen. Disabling the 3 DynDOLOD mods (main one, Textures and Output) fixes the issue. Any ideas what could be the problem...? Thanks!

STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hey, thanks for the suggestion - I wouldn't think of that to be honest. It's been over a year since I even had Skyrim installed on my computer and even back then I wasn't even modding it anymore. I've just had my own build installed that I worked on for a year or so. It had over 440 mods and was quite stable, so I was just playing that. So yeah, I'll defo need a refresher :) -
STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I finished the installation last night. My game CTD'd right after choosing New Game option. Going to investigate tonight. Ah, I missed this! :D -
STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
No, I just deactivated the mod earlier in the process - entirely my fault :) -
Generate DynDOLOD - hold down Shift when opening TES5EDIT
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in xEdit Support
Gotcha, thanks. I'm using the non-beta version, as per STEP. This mod was not in the guide when I was involved in the project :) -
Generate DynDOLOD - hold down Shift when opening TES5EDIT

Out of curiosity - what does holding Shift do when accepting the plugin list? -
STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Found it! I missed The Choice Is Yours. All done now, howver the installer selected No ELE version for me - which I assume is right, as that mod is no longer part of STEP (correct?). It's however installed 2 ESPs - Step Ex. Patch - No ELE.esp and Step Ex. Patch.esp. Looking at masters I presume only one is correct (no ELE one). Is this correct? Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, it's really been a while since I installed STEP and even used MO at all... ::EDIT:: Please disregard this post completely :) -
I just wanted to say... I was part of the team back in a day but then Elite Dangerous came out and I shifted my focus to that game, being bored with Skyrim. But recently I came back to the forums to prepare my Witcher 3 guide for an update. I started reading some topics and... nostalgia kicked in and I am now finishing my STEP Extended installation with a plan to expand it with more mods after it's done. Just wanted to say - what a great community it is! I am so glad I was part of it in the past and that I can still participate in it, even if I'm not getting involved as heavily as I used to. Just wanted to say that guys - thanks for all your hard work and letting us be part of it!!!

It should handle it easily. I have a very similar specs - slightly better CPU and less RAM and I never had any problems. Saying that, I didn't play Skyrim for ages, but I'm close to finishing the STEP Extended installation, so I'll report back if I have similar problems.

STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat replied to rootsrat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Nice one, thanks for confirming. I'll go through the list again at home... I may have missed a mod or (more likely) hidden one ESP too many :) -
STEP-X Patch - what is the validation on install?
rootsrat posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
A quick question - what is the validation on the STEP Extended Patch during the installation? Does it just look for all the master ESPs and if one is missing the option gets greyed out or is there more to it? The reason I'm asking is that I was not able to install it last night - the option was greyed out, but I'm pretty sure I have followed all the instructions (apart from adding Loot rules - but that shouldn't matter, should it?). There is a possibility of a human error of course, I'll be checking the whole profile today to ensure it's all good. So - what actual validation STEP-X Patch installed does? Thanks
