Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

That's per USKP so I don't think you need it but not positive. -

Odd. I guess at your native resolution there's just too much to process. I wonder if you could decrease the blurring without stutter by going back to your native resolution but using borders (maybe vignette) to reduce the screen size a bit - probably not and what's the point of having a huge monitor then? Did altering the FOV have any affect on the stuttering? -

It's only 4 new meshes. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback

New version of SMIM is out. ( https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655 ) SMIM'd the Cave Lantern meshes to have proper 3D ropes, more curved basins, and better texture mapping. Thanks to raiserfx for the high resolution cave lantern texture I edited for the SMIM'd meshes.Changed the Smelter mesh charcoal pile to now uses a high resolution texture instead of the ugly default texture. The Smelter mesh itself is untouched so far, but it does need some SMIMing in the future.Added 3D chains to one of the anchors I missed before (shipkatariahanchorwheel01.nif).Added 3D chains to one of the ship chains specific to Katariah (shipkatariahanchorchain01.nif). This mesh isn't used by the game, but I included it in case modders use it. -

As near as I can see there a at least a couple of meshes in each of the three folders in DDF which are not replaced by USKP. -

Yes - you have to wash Neo's car before he will let you use it! :) Or maybe it's Skyrim Revisited - Linux Edition - you will need to install a new OS to use it. Actually I think he is calling the next iteration Skyrim Revisited - Legendary Edition in honor of Bethesda's new release. -
ACCEPTED Superior Lore-Friendly Hair - HD textures (by skyrimaguas)

Ah - I wonder if that's why they didn't notice the need for something like the pre-cache killer for the showracemnu function. -

If you also have a large HDD, you might consider putting the MO download folder there so it doesn't clutter up your SSD. I'm not positive you can do this but wish I had done it. I like to leave downloaded mods in there for when I want to reinstall - something to consider with SR -LE coming up. I can see a lot of reinstalls in my future. -
SKYRIMLE Superior Rock Textures - HD 2K replacers by skyrimaguas
statmonster replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Which color option do people find best? I doubt it will improve performance unless you drop down the texture size. (As I understand it, grass on steroids sort of cheats by making relatively low res textures huge and/or numerous and achieving a more grassy/weedy look without requiring your to load a ton of detailed textures. But that's just my guess.) -

It's an option on one of the tabs up top. You actually have to alternate back and forth from this. Basically use ignore unknown at first to extract the Beth BSAs then un-tick it to actually process the .dds and n.dds. -

SKYRIMLE Skybirds - Airborne Perching Birds
statmonster replied to Korentin's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I use SkyBirds 0.931 without Birds and Flocks and Birds of Skyrim but with SkyTest and Sounds of Skyrim. It seems to work well and makes Skyrim seem a bit more alive. -

ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
statmonster replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I agree with that. I have a bookshelf right in front of me filled with old books and new. The difference is noticeable, even the plain-paper is different. More rusty and yellow (aged, maybe). Covers were solid and filled with "florals" to add something to them. I think my problem with BCS textures are the "overextending" details that don't quite fit the environment. I don't know if that makes sense. The fonts look good, but the scale isn't right. Hard to say. I can fetch some photos from my old books for comparison, your call. Vanilla seems better to me. EDIT: Plus, old books weren't produced in industrial scale, thus the more "unique" looks. I think we have a false impression of what old books looked like. What we see now are old books which have had centuries to age and dry out and have the color bleached out of them. When they were new they were vibrantly colored. Given their price they were probably also well cared for. They would be brightly colored with freshly drawn calligraphy. So I think books in homes, shops and libraries should be pretty gregarious. Ones lost and moldering in an ancient dungeon, crypt or cave should look a little worse for the wear - at least until someone acquired it and put a new binding on it. I think these are fine. I'm not thrilled that you can't tell what skill you will level by picking one up - plus it's generally harder to identify skill and quest books - though this is probably more "immersive" if annoying. -
SKYRIMLE Skyrim Immersive Creatures (by lifestorock)
statmonster replied to phazer11's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I wonder if this has to do with whether you checked the ignore unknown types. I certainly would not use this on .nif files (or anything other than .dds files) unless someone whose expertise you trust says to do it. I could easily be wrong about this, but using it on non-.dds files strikes me as very dubious. -
Thanks for the suggestion.

If you set it to *.dds it should not try to optimize meshes (which are *.nif). -
Hexaae wrote: "I've always thought ENB and RCRN are very good (and may decrease your FPS -1 to -10)... but what about vanilla graphics? Do you really think talented professional artists in Bethesda would have done a dull and washed out graphics on purpose with so bad imagespaces? Or it's just a matter of tuning the standard settings?" I find this a very puzzling statement. As I understand it he's saying being talented professionals the artists did a good job but it was undermined by the tuning - but why would the tuners, who are also presumably talented professionals, do this and undermine the whole project? It makes no sense. In any case the author's idea of tuning the settings to improve the appearance is a very attractive one. Tweaking .ini settings is presumably (at least to this non-talented non-professional) easier and imposes less of a performance hit than introducing masses of hi res textures, lighting changes and post processing adjustments via ENBs.

What are the SkyUI 4 bugs? -
The best bet is to get a mod where the author has created them in the resolution you want.

SKYRIMLE Realistic Lighting Overhaul (by The Realistic Lighting Team)
statmonster replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
RLO is realistic large rooms lit by candle light and the occasional fire place are pretty dark with lots of deep shadows, especially a night, etc. The problem is that it's not so much fun to play in them. -
SKYRIMLE Enhanced Lights and FX (by anamorfus)
statmonster replied to najt's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
For those who use this mod - do you typically use it with another mod for exterior lighting? -
I don't really have a problem with the quality of the voice acting. Frankly even if poorly done it's better than many mods with silent voices, and I generally like the quality plus the variety of voices/accents, etc. in the mod. (Maybe I just like weird or bad accents as they sound exotic and make the characters memorable.) I first started using it to get more NPCs into the game - Skyrim just seems to empty and I liked it for that reason. Also some of the followers were really good - several had interesting quirks or entertaining things to say while adventuring. I never really bothered with the mod's quests AFAIK - I may have done a few that I stumbled into. The drawbacks were that after you have used it a bit the very in depth back stories that these NPCs talk about just seem boring - for the most part the don't really affect the game. There were a few useful NPCs like the Smith in Morthal, etc. as well as followers. I also wonder how stable the game is with this mod - about 6 -9 months ago I had horrible issues where I could not exit Markarth with this mod activated. Pus there's the possible issue with TES5Snip. The fact that it''s always a WIP without a polished or finished product is a bit off-putting - there always seem to be dangling ends - or at least that's what I perceive. Overall it's well done and fun to use for one or two play-throughs. Currently I use Inconsequential NPCs and Immersive patrols to populate Skyrim and a few follower mods to add interesting followers.

ACCEPTED Smaller Ice Spike and Ice Spear (by Odin_ml)
statmonster replied to torminater's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I like the 30% size. (I looks reduced by 70% to 30% size). Frankly any of these sticking through someone are likely to be fatal, so the smaller the better given that they are not even close to delivering fatal wounds. -
I never noticed this before. Now I probably won't be able to stop noticing it. Thanks!
