  1. Thanks, my FPS shot back up to 75fps! I'm not sure what I prefer though, the lights do look a lot better.
  2. I get 37.5fps at the candles at 2000 particles & 7500 particles so it's not that. Fires can also reduce fps but candles are the most extreme example of this.
  3. Ah ok my bad, maybe it was the changing weather? That would be good, thank you. I appreciate all the work thats involved. I have been using the full STEP guide from the off and have not changed my mods apart from I was using the Backported ESL Support mod which I have now removed as per the updated instructions. I also went from L&W to L&W + PP. I have always been using the latest runtime 1.6.1170. Thanks I will see if I get anymore issues after disabling Backported ESL Support, if I do I will definitely try that fix. Maybe the Backported ESL Support mod could have been causing my SKSE issues? I will see if it happens again. I will look into Root Builder as I have not heard of that. One more thing, candles really tank the FPS. I’m assuming this is an ENB effect? If there is a way to gain some FPS back that would be appreciated. Typical scenario is to go to halls of the dead in Whiterun and look at the candles up close. I lose maybe 20 fps.
  4. Some feedback / bug reports for this guide: Sometimes SKSE will fail to load and will display the loading symbol infinitely on the main menu. When going into the game, it is clear that SKSE plugins are not loaded / loaded properly and weird things start to happen. Rebooting the game sometimes fixes this, it sometimes requires multiple re-boots. ENB will always compile its shaders when running the game. Adds approx 20 seconds to the load time. I sometimes get a CTD when loading a Quick Save. Performance can vary wildly, seemingly dependant on the season and weather. I was getting 40 plus fps for most of the game, then the seasons changed and I was struggling to maintain 30 outdoors. When I did the initial performance test I was getting 100+ fps. I am using Medium INI settings, with standard LOD settings (no grass). I am using milk drinker ENB. My graphics card is GTX 1060 Mobile. My CPU is i7-6700HQ. 16GB RAM. 1080p resolution. Complete Crafting Overhaul does not fully integrate Creation Content. E.g. backpacks cannot be broken down, filters do not display for Alternative Armours such as leather scout armour. These armours cannot be broken down. Crossbows / crossbow bolts cannot be broken down. There are mods that fix this while also adding the items to the levelled lists. See Complete Crafting Overhaul Remastered at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) a few posts down. Cooking menu is very cluttered. There are mods that fix that and add filters such as vegetable, meat etc. Cooking Categories Improvement (Constructible Object Custom Keyword System - Fixes) at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) There are mods that add lore friendly descriptions for all items. Could these be considered for a future release? Description Framework at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com)
  5. A new update has been released, V2.36. * Fixed leaf/branch normal map (thanks to awesome Fuzzlesz and their equally awesome anonymous friend!). * Fixed installer "Thickets" and "No Thickets" options so that what is actually installed is not the reverse. Which option is now advised?
  6. I like how this mod implements the requirements for opening certain levels of lock. Basing it on Stamina/Health & weapon used seems logical and allows for gradual progression in the game. Mod author went inactive for a while but says he will be updating the mod soon. He's also looking at implementing a spell.

  8. Thanks for your response. Regarding the vanilla friendly part, I probably could have worded it better. Indeed I felt that this mod strayed too far from vanilla and wasn't up to the quality standards of other mods included. Bashing - If this was in the game, I'd imagine there should be a chance that you would lose whatever is in the chest. Some things inside the chest are fragile and bashing it to bits is surely going to damage the items inside. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to me to be fair, and cheapens a lockpick/thief build. I think there should be some reward/benefit from the lockpicking skill. An expert thief/lockpicker should be able to carefully open the lock and extract everything inside. I guess for doors it could be different, it would definitely have to be loud though, and alert all others around. Spell- I wasn't aware that the 'Open' spell exists, now that I am aware of that my view has changed slightly. I am 'open' to the idea of a spell, however, I feel like the implementation could be better. Instead of automatically being granted access to the spell, it should be earnt through a quest or through the mages guild, or bought from a shop. Perhaps there are different versions of the spell that only unlock once you reach a certain level or perhaps it is granted through a perk? Again, perhaps a chance for the spell to go wrong and for the lock to be permanently shut? Just spitting out ideas. Auto picking- As I said, I am open to this given that it is in Oblivion and is just a lazy way to lockpick where you will lose far more lockpicks. The option should be there for those players who want it. I like the idea of a baseline and would prefer to have some recommended settings for a lore friendly / vanilla friendly experience. I am not using the mod personally. I did look at alternatives but I couldn't find one that really did the trick. There was one that I posted here which you can look at in my post. Maybe I need to try my hand at modding...
  9. The patch is now integrated into the installer. It must be manually selected. Under Compatibility Patches select "ENB Light - Magic Hand FX".
  10. Ok after investigating I've found that the patch can be placed directly after Embers XD with no issues. However, the plugin only works when placed after Step Patch - Post Processing.esp. I assume this is something you can fix with the patch? LOOT places the plugin directly after ENB Light, causing the effect to disappear.
  11. Yes I agree. Better with the patch. So the mod overwrites some textures from ENB Light, so I assume the mod should be placed after ENB Light? The effect only works if the plugin is placed as highest priority. I tried to place the plugin after ENB Light and it didn't work! Perhaps there is another plugin modifying this effect? I will investigate.

  13. There is a new patch on the mod page for ENB Light. Should I install it?
  14. Thanks. I ran all the LODs again just in case. everything seems to be running well! I’m surprised my GTX 1060 can handle it! I’m running Medium INIs with Heavy ENB, LODs with no grass. Getting upwards of 40fps in exteriors. out of interest, what is the performance hit of running Grass LODs?
  15. Ok thanks. I’ve done all that. Created a separate profile in case performance was not good enough. i have one more question on LOD Generation, do i need to run it all again? I’ve also updated to BethINI Medium Preset from Low.
  16. What is the simplest and easiest method for upgrading from STEP + LIGHTING to STEP + LIGHTING + POST PROCESSING. I would like to maintain my existing profile to go back to in case of performance issues. Im running the latest version of STEP

  19. Discussion topic: Locked Chests Have Keys by JaySerpa Wiki Link A lore friendly alternative to Lock Overhaul, in my humble opinion. Allows non thief/sneak characters to still get into locks, if they have the patience to find the key.
  20. To be honest, is this really within the STEP Mandate? It's not Vanilla friendly to unlock with a spell or with bashing as that wasn't what the developer intended. The vanilla way is to lockpick. I put this in the same category of any other mods that would add/change gameplay features. I would personally remove it from the STEP guide. You could argue the auto lockpicking feature though as this is part of Oblivion, but I think this would be better served with a different mod that only does that. There are other issues regarding the MCM options not being explained properly, e.g. Heart Beat Script. The MCM option is "Frequency It Fires per Second". Default is 3. Some people in the comments on the mod page have raised concerns over the mods use of scripting.
  21. What is the reason for instructing users to generate an empty mod to contain the INI file? If the INI file isn't being changed, what is the purpose of doing this?
  22. What are the recommended MCM settings when using this mod? Leaving at defaults makes the mod a paper weight I believe.
  23. According to the mods Wiki page, the default option should be false, however with my version it was true. Possibly an issue with the config file supplied by the mod author, I will report it. Configuration · mlthelama/SkyrimCharacterSheet Wiki · GitHub
  24. Before: After: By default, Skyrim Character Sheet automatically shows when entering the inventory screen. This obscures the character and the item viewer making it a nuisance. Pressing 0 turns it on or off, however, it should default to off. My ini tweak makes it so that when you enter the inventory screen it doesn't show automatically.
