Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Spiffyman replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Anyone else get some interesting moving textures with Vivid Landscapes and parallax? I am staring at a rock and the texture moves like a wave. I can't take video of it, but here are a few screens a few moments apart, without me moving at all. Notice the change it texture positioning. I have the step Bump Textures and Project Parallax installed (and SMIM, which changes the meshes). Anyone have a clue what's going on? Screen 1 Screen 2 Screen 3 -
DROPPED Better Males (by Chris57 and FavoredSoul)

I'm not familiar with this mod, but I do know it changes the feet mesh. That could be what it refers to: the new feet mesh for the forsworn. -
pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim
Spiffyman replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
I saw that he had a new version and checked which one I used. I had the newest one. I also put that main clipping screen on his mod page so he could see it. It was a nice mod, so if he fixes the issues, i think it's a great addition. -
SKYRIMLE Warburgs Detailed Paper World Map (by Warburg)
Spiffyman replied to Besidilo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yes, it is still 3D. Which is quite disappointing I would rather have a full 2D paper map. It must be a terrible thing to mod as no one has done it yet... Edit: One thing with Warburg's mod is that it works terribly with new lands. A fix for that breaks the floating icons on the map in vanilla areas. Anyone know how to just remove those floating icons altogether? I could live with the map being nothing but a basic map. -
SKYRIMLE Skydie - Prepare to Cry Edition (by sagittarius22)
Spiffyman posted a topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I stumbled upon this mod called SkyDie - Prepare to Cry Edition by sagittarius22. It seems to be a mod that makes the game tough, like Requiem. However, while Requiem (like SkyRe) is very over-reaching in its changes, making compatibility patches a must. Skydie tries to change only core features and let people use other mods for perks/magic/combat mods. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53745/? A list of some of the changes: No fast travel Cannot change perk points without sleeping (to give you a reason to go to an inn) Running tires you (less than sprinting though) This makes carriages more useful, or it makes your horse that much more valuable to you. Unleveled enemies in places (from what I understand, it's not completely unleveled, but I'm not sure the extent yet). Harder hits: death comes quicker to you or your enemies. Heavy armor much heavier, but also more protective Light armor are weak to arrows, but it doesn't weigh you down. No health regen, less effective healing potions Stamina affects damage; lower stamina => less damage Magicka affects spell damage; lower magicka => less damage These 3 changes mean you do not want to drag out battles... This isn't really a STEP mod, but I think it would be worthwhile to consider for a STEP pack. I was thinking of going with Requiem, but I kind of like this approach for modularity. So it's a gameplay mechanics mod which can be combined with Magic Overhauls, Combat Overhauls, and Perk Overhauls (so people that want to use PerMa should be pleased). Has anyone else here looked into this mod? I'd love to hear some opinions and experiences with it. -
SKYRIMLE Warburgs Detailed Paper World Map (by Warburg)
Spiffyman replied to Besidilo's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Is there another paper map mod available? I really like the idea of looking at a cloth map like this (especially with the hidden player marker). Judging from above, this mod is quite finicky, so I'm hoping there is another paper map mod somewhere. I suppose another option would be to use the Equippable map mod and not use the main map, but that would be a last resort. -
pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim

Not sure if Skyrim performance monitor is working correctly or not, but i didn't get any fps differences between the mods. That aside, I liked the True City expansion, but some quality issues bother me. It added a lot of things, but it seemed that in doing so, he also overlaps a lot of things. 2 that I noticed: https://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo351/Spiffyman777/ScreenShot4_zpsa3926125.png https://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo351/Spiffyman777/ScreenShot5_zps90430731.png That second one might be overlooked by most people (as it kind of blends in), but for me it stuck out enough that I immediately noticed it. Based on that, I'd say hold off on this mod for now and wait for newer versions. For now stick with either JK or Dawn. Tried both of those, and I'm leaning towards Dawn as JK got me lost.... That could be viewed as a good thing though :P -

That city expansion looks really good! I'm pretty sure that would conflict with either of the other too though, as that seems like quite the overhaul. I love the look of the JK mods, but I haven't tried them in my game yet. So I am a bit disappointed to hear they kill fps. That said, the video above seems similarly detailed and probably would be an fps killer as well (definitely so if those most of those 50 NPCs are outside). That said, I'd say that this one gives the [potential] capital a much more impressive feel and definitely deserves consideration. And if that fps drop isn't too much, I'd give this one priority. I have some time this weekend, would you like me to try each of the 3 solitude mods to see how it affects my fps? -
DROPPED Better Males (by Chris57 and FavoredSoul)
Spiffyman replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I would appreciate that. I have to thank TechAngel though for his mistake, as it got me to read the DDSOpt guide through fully this time (I've used it for other ES games so I figured I was fine here too). It seems you have a some scripts to automate the optimizing a bit. That is fantastic. So now I can just run all my mods through it instead of being as selective as I was. So thanks Tech for getting me to read that :D And Nearox, your guide is fantastic! I am thankful you made it. -
DROPPED Better Males (by Chris57 and FavoredSoul)
Spiffyman replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
4k is the norm for vanilla bodies too? Well.... shows how much I've ever considered body mods before. Hadn't a clue about that. In that case, my comment is moot. I was thinking unfair in that you add a mod that significantly increases the file size but don't have a performance warning (like most mods on STEP have). But being the same size as vanilla, I guess that's why... My apologies. -

Spiffyman replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The only problem I have here, is that if you don't want to go to the Nexus (because NSFW), you have no idea that the textures are 4k. No where in the guide does it mention this. I chose performance settings for most mods, and avoid anything 4K (and generally try to remain at the 1k level). So to say it is up to me to decide if I need to DDSopt them for the extra VRAM is unfair as I wouldn't know I need this one specifically DDSopted. Not an issue if I decide to just DDSopt everything I suppose, as blanket DDSopting things means I don't need to know the original sizes. Regardless, please list in the guide that the textures are 4k so users will be aware. edit: went to the mod page after reading the above comment about 4k, and I don't even see it listed there... And that mod page does not make me pleased to use this mod at all. Terrible presentation... I am very tempted to use the better feet mod instead as I don't care about the textures from the mod, but it seems this mod makes some kind of mesh fixes so I'll trust to STEP mods and download+DDSopt this. -
Those roads look SO much better with parallax. The bridges are good too, but hand rail part could use some work. I am not a huge fan of Skyrim HD landscape textures, but the screenshots make me like the road textrures a lot more.

Having rain detect meshes so that it stops when it hits is CPU intenstive, which is why rain falls through meshes in the game. At least, that is what I keep telling myself, not sure if that is the real reason, but it sounds reasonable to me. :)

There is also the site testg (The Elder Scrolls Texture Guide) site which is the successor to the last link (devnull) that you posted. Much more up-to-date. Also, one mod that is probably not on any list yet (released at the end of may, one month ago) is the Oblivion Character Overhaul. It does a very good job changing the look of the characters in Oblivion, thanks to the work the author did in changing the head meshes. forum link Nexus link

SKYRIMLE Prostitute of Skyrim, a no porn mod!
Spiffyman replied to MannyGT's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Mages/Fighters guild aside (as they are already ingame), why has no one ever implemented on of these other guilds into MW,OB, or Skyrim yet? Â Guild Tinkers Guild, Cobblers Guild, Prostitutes Guild, Scribes Guild, Architects Guild, Brewers Guild, Vintners Guild, Weavers Guild, Ratcatchers Guild, Furriers Guild, Cooks Guild, Astrologers Guild, Healers Guild, Tailors Guild, Minstrals Guild, Barristers Guild... Like this mod, just having them in the game and mentioning the guild would be nice (joinable might be asking too much for some of these guilds, such as the one you chose ;P). I have to pass on this one myself due to the nature of it, but it seems well put together from the description on nexus. One suggestion, I didn't see it in your description but does time pass when you use their services? I think it would make sense to do so. -
ACCEPTED Smaller Ice Spike and Ice Spear (by Odin_ml)
Spiffyman replied to torminater's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hm? Did I confuse the sizes? I thought 50% meant half size and 30% meant 1/3 the size. Well, to make it clearer, I'll ignore the percents and say that I prefer the smallest size but even the middle size is better than vanilla. Hopefully that clears up what I meant. ;) -
ACCEPTED Smaller Ice Spike and Ice Spear (by Odin_ml)
Spiffyman replied to torminater's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I prefer 30% reduced. 50% is obviously better than vanilla as well, but I like the bolts not sticking through a body. -
SKYRIMLE Sometimes Pick Up Books // RTR - Real Time Reading
Spiffyman replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Real Time Reading sounds like a fantastic idea. I like mods that do things like this. -
Sad that this doesn't work for the complex archives, but I suppose it would be near impossible to make a script that could encompass all of those. As a small request, would it be possible to add doc/txt/html and add them to a Doc Folder in the archive? Makes keeping track of those files much easier. That aside, this seems very useful, as I basically do this manually anyway.

SKYRIMLE Nordic Lantern - Replacer (by css0101)
Spiffyman replied to hylskrik's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Maybe I am strange, but I prefer the vanilla lantern to the SMIM or this one... This one is nice, though the designs along the metal make it look like a higher-quality lantern and not one you'd see the everyday person using. The same could be said of Brumbek's though... -
SKYRIMLE EZ2C Dialogue Menu - configurable - better navigation and control
Spiffyman replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I believe theCompiler is a fan of this mod as well. I'll probably take a look at it once the mcm version is out (as well as the official SkyUI version, rather than a beta). It seems to have far more configuration than I'd need, but there is one thing I'm curious about. It says you can change the font (11 to choose from), so I wonder if these are better than the font mod included in STEP. If so, this could replace it. -
My step by step S.T.E.P. procedure - [SOLVED]
Spiffyman replied to eperdos's question in General Skyrim LE Support
with a slight edit to the ENB that techangel suggested (turning off ssao/dof), I had a reduction of around 6 fps. You seem to have a better gpu than myself so I'd imagine you'd have that much or less reduction. If you're not sure how to do that, I'm guess that ENB guide will explain that. -
poor rpsgc. I find it awesome that the mod was suggested at the same time. Looking at the screens, the textures aren't over the top and they fit in perfectly with Skyrim (as they stay loyal to the original to the original ones). It's no wonder you both rushed to suggest it! In my eyes, this is a shoe in for STEP.

This isn't my kind of mod, but I could find it perfectly believable for the nail polish to exist. The mod certainly has it's place in the community. I could imagine seeing some very important females in game having the nail polish and I wouldn't find that out of place. So it may not be a STEP mod (if only because it requires body replacers) but it's still a good mod. @Magistrate I think you should tone down the colors a bit. I feel as if a duller color would benefit the game more so than the vibrant colors you have now.
