  1. You'd have to load the CR esp in TESEdit (and its corresponding masters), remove the records in it pertaining to the mods you want to deactivate, then 'clean masters' on the esp. Hopefully it will resolve the current issue and not generate any new ones
  2. So it appears from the guide and others' comments on various threads, that we should be able to check off generate dynamic LOD as well as candle/fx glow? The manual says otherwise and all of those options are grayed out for me. I've searched keywords and also just read through the DynDOLOD threads on here, I'm not sure where I may have missed something...
  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/7mvkjx/how_to_make_racemenu_work_with_se/ also you might like https://youtu.be/lBtc-HJ7u2E I couldn't get through the first video personally...
  4. I'll definitely check both of those out. I guess I'm just used to LE, vs SE, where it seemed ENB always had a pretty substantial impact on lighting, shadows, and not just aesthetics but also remedying problems/sub-par features. But if SE doesn't need quite that much... attention, it's fine by me. I'm not married to using an ENB, it's just sort of expected in the guide and I figured it was necessary to fully complement and enhance the choices therein. I've made plenty of other changes in my implementation so far (I don't obediently adhere 100% to STEP or SRLE), will just need to update my personal changelog a little bit more tonight! (Also to be blunt, I did not anticipate the level of ****ery I dealt with the other night!) TY for the suggestions! (P.S. re: the girl power, I've been here forever but my executive function waxes and wanes so I'm not a very good contributor I try to make up for it by donating )
  5. Oh, sorry, I didn't mean a different ENB preset, I meant an alternative to using an ENB period. I was up till 2 am trying to get Skyrim to not black screen/apphang with the dxd11.dll in there, I was not successful so I'd like to find something else that will prettify it. If I can. (And for the record I've never had an issue with Oldrim + ENB, sooo ASCII shrug face)
  6. So, does anyone know of any ENB alternatives (tbh if you just have an answer to that would be helpful...) thaaat would work with what's in the guide? I know Oldrim had all kinds of wacky graphics enhancers, I never used any of them though since ENB always worked well.
  7. I was hoping to get everything wrapped up tonight, or close to it, but I've spent over 4 hours trying (and failing) to get Skyrim to load with ENB enabled. Other than that, it was very smooth sailing over the weekend going through the guide! With all the mods enabled (though I've not run xLODgen or DynDOLOD yet), it's a little over 30 sec to load on average. Occasionally even less. So counting all of that as a win at least.
  8. The inquisitor I just finished my first game with looks terrible, so... the hairs, eyebrows, makeup, and the lighting to choose them in almost made me cry. I very much look forward to intrepid modders fixing those things. I went from this article to the DAI Tools and then to the BSN modding group so I swear, I was not stalking you Neo:
  9. As always, take what you like, leave what you don't, and hopefully at least some of it's useful: Before installing any ENB presets, get Boris Vorontsov's ENBSeries. Since the introduction of ENBSeries for Skyrim, there have been hundreds of ENB presets created; however, most are not kept updated with have not been updated to use the latest version of ENBSeries. versions so Please refer to the chosen ENB preset's documentation to ensure the correct version of ENBSeries is downloaded. ENBSeries now has the option of using the memory reducing features of ENB without the graphics modification. This is helpful for users with low-end systems that can handle higher texture quality, but not the enhanced graphics and processing of ENBSeries such as, shadows, SSAO, and SkyLighting. The installation of ENBoost does not require an ENB preset. Installation: Get the latest version of ENBSeries from here. Extract the contents of the WrapperVersion folder to the root Skyrim folder (not the DATA folder). Nvidia Optimus users will have to use the InjectorVersion folder. Navigate to the Skyrim folder and open the enblocal.ini file in a text editor. Then Under the [GLOBAL] section change UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=false to true. Now Under the [MEMORY] section set the required values1. Save and close the file. ENBoost is now installed and will run when you launch Skyrim. Suggested ENB Configurations There are ENB and other lighting mods presets that come in just about every style and color. This section can be extremely subjective and, as such, STEP suggests to browsing around to find the perfect solution of preference preset. There isn't an official STEP recommended ENB Presets (yet);, however, below are a few excellent, widely-used presets and information about them. To make a suggestion or comment on out-of-date information for the listed ENB presets, do so on the ENB Guide Thread. For general installation instructions, see the Installation tab; however, it is highly recommended to follow the author's installation instructions found on the ENB Preset's Nexus page. ENBSeries v0.236 vs v0.262+ The latest versions of ENBSeries available to download are v0.236 and 0.2622. Most ENB Presets which that are still in active development have been updated to utilize one of these two versions, or have stated that they are compatible with them. Since, at the time of this writing, these are the latest versions available for download, The below recommendations below are current for either one or both of these versions. So, what's the difference? There have been several improvements between the two releases. From v0.236 to v0.262 the following has been added: 1. I think it would be useful to link to where one can find these values. 2. I know the version numbers are in the header, but I feel as though people may skim over that...then read the sentence and go "wait, which versions?" I'm thinking of the format found in textbooks, to give you an idea.
  10. Sorry, I've been working on our behemoth of a procedure manual here at work, so, haven't gotten a chance to go over the next section :)
  11. ENBSeries is a powerful post processing modification available for Skyrim and other games. It was developed by Boris Vorontsov, who still maintains and updates the mod. The mod also enables Users to can create their own custom configurations (commonly referred to as ENBs or ENB Presets) designed to their own specifications by modifying rendering functions and the application of additional effects, such as bloom, depth of field, and SSAO and many more. ENBSeries has also added a memory manager known as ENBoost, which assists in offloading memory1 from the system memory (RAM) to video memory (VRAM) and in order to prevent avoid crashes. ENBs often typically enhance the visuals of the game2, including overall lighting, colors, and shadows among other aspects of the game, but comes with a performance loss of anywhere between 5% to 50% of total frames per second (FPS), depending on the user's hardware, the ENB features enabled and the extent to which those features are utilized. Most users find this loss acceptable compared to the enhancements and features gained from the ENB. Use the Quickstart tab to jump right into using an ENB Preset or explore the other tabs for more advanced and in-depth information pertaining to ENBs. 1. Which memory? This does not make it clear. 2. Kind of struggling with what'd be the best phrasing for this sentence, so, best effort thus far...
  12. Welcome to the ENBSeries Graphics Modification1 for Skyrim Guide. The ENBSeries is a special type of mod, different from most Skyrim mods2, created and maintained by Boris Voronstov. ENB adds in effects to Skyrim that were not available before, like such as screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) and Depth of Field (DoF)3, as well as and providing provides a memory manager known as ENBoost. The This following guide will help newcomers become familiar with the basics of installing and using ENB and will also answer many questions for every user, from novice to expert. The STEP Forums now have dedicated ENB subforums: for ENB preset recommendations of ENB presets, go to the Post Processor Suggestions (ENB) subforum4, and for support, go to our ENB Support Forum4. 1. Would it be more beneficial perhaps to link to https://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.html, as the top level page does not have user-friendly navigation? 2. I feel as though this is unnecessary, but I leave it up to you of course. 3. I would usually suggest spelling out acronyms first then putting said acronyms in subsequent parentheses, but if we can use the "hover text" just like the forums, that would be an option too... 4. The wording is inconsistent. Is the first one listed a subforum, but not the second? I did not look at the actual forums yet, so I don't know if there is an appreciable difference.
  13. I always disable SSAO, so that's already figured into the numbers I gave. Like phazer I also sort-of-mostly followed the SRLE/REGS for medium systems, I do use SMIM as well of course but I don't have issues with it otherwise. Which REGS mods add new things to Whiterun? I only use about 10 things from REGS tbh, and I don't believe any of them add items to the city interiors...
  14. Well I use SRLE so...yes?... I've optimized quite a lot, and halfsized the normals for several mods as well. If I turn ENB off I get pretty rock solid 60 fps.
  15. Well, there's the usual culprits, like looking/going down from Dragonsreach etc. For me though, the biggest issue was the "main drag" i.e. from the gate to the Bannered Mare. Running along that path was rough going, the children running about sort of looked like glitches. Using the blacksmith forge I dropped down to a very choppy 15-20 fps - I know it's just the crafting menu, but it did bug me because I've never seen that happen. The other parts of Whiterun were not as bad, but I still had a fairly sizeable fps drop - I have a GTX 780 and I've tried to performance-ize my ENB as much as possible, so I'm normally at 50-60 fps. With 1.0, I might hit 38 fps max, and drop to 14-18 minimum. I reverted back to 0.3 and now stay at ~30-40 consistently. My .inis are only lightly tweaked (mostly just from SRLE), so I'll see if there's anything further I can do to squeeze more performance out of 'em. I don't miss anything from 1.0 though so for now I'm good.
  16. Just click on the Profile button up top (ID card icon), select your SRLE profile and hit Copy.
  17. A new version of Better City Entrances was uploaded this weekend without Whiterun, to be compatible with JK's outskirts, if that's a combo anyone wants to use. As a sidenote, I didn't notice any drop in FPS with JK's until 1.0, now there's several spots where it looks like stop-motion animation (~18 fps)... but, it's so pretty
  18. Just a small thing noticed during some late night patching... 070271DF DLC2DRRRumorsBranchTopic > 0702BAC2Conflict Resolution: Use record from TheChoiceIsYours_Dragonborn.esp then move the NAM1 - Response Text from Unofficial Skyrim Dragonborn Patch.esp.Problem Resolved: Response fix from unofficial patches were not properly forwarded.
  19. Working in tech support is hazardous to one's health. A nice but not-tech-savvy woman once said to me, "You're so patient. You're very good at this. You must really like your job." Most recently, the desktop support group sent me a ticket because someone couldn't get their new MFP to convert faxes to PDF then email out - the vendor told them it was a problem with authentication or a firewall on the phone line (a working analog phone line that was able to send and receive faxes).
  20. I hate to necro even a little, but is this happening again for anyone else? Does search just not function on the 22nd of the month? :O_o:
  21. Just one thing I noticed on https://wiki.step-project.com/Pack:Proposal - I tried to fix it myself but I don't have the permissions - the link below towards the bottom: is pointing to the exact URL it's showing (i.e. collapsed, with the ...) instead of https://wiki.step-project.com/Category:Packs
  22. The last CPU-related setting (fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS) will not affect your framerate, but will affect your load times. Unlike the other settings, Papyrus will use the entire time even if it has nothing to do. Increasing this will only help make sure cells and such are set up if there is a load screen. For example, the civil war can stress this because it has to set up a ton of things in the cities for the war when you enter through their load doors. https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1487930-getting-a-lot-of-script-lag-going-over-10000-ms-sometimes/?p=23340131
  23. Did you sort your plugins with BOSS or LOOT yet?
  24. If it changed after updating the OS, it's almost certainly not due to ENB or Skyrim-specific settings or files. I would check your display driver, your display settings and even your power settings perhaps. Confirm that Windows is still using your dedicated GPU rather than the Intel HD GPU. You could also try upgrading/re-installing your GPU drivers.
  25. The RelightingSkyrim-Full.esp doesn't have a rule already in BOSS/BUM, so you have to make it. It's a custom .esp. Your rules will reference .esps you don't have on occasion. Download as the link commands :)
