TechAngel85 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Discussion thread: Pure Waters - Waterfalls by Laast I don't post mods very often, but when I do I think they're either really worth adding or really worth keeping an eye on. This one falls into the latter category. I haven't tested out in-game, but from what I'm seeing this is the most realistic and natural looking waterfall mod as of yet. It changes the meshes mainly and they fit far better into the flows of the rivers. I've always thought the waterfalls look as if they were pumping out far too much water for the flow that you see below them. Basically the vanilla-type waterfalls look as though they're flowing flood waters while the rivers below them look normal and the flow of them aren't that great compared to the volume of the waterfalls which feed them. Pure Waters - Waterfalls seems to have agreed with this view and reduced them to be more natural. One thing to note, this is only the first release so only two waterfalls are covered and this is not currently compatible with STEP due to SkyFall & SkyMills. Laast said he will try to look into compatibility patches but I wouldn't expect them until more of the waterfalls are covered by the mod. So for now, this mod is just definitely one to keep an eye on. I've already tracked it on Nexus for myself. Video Overview by Hodilton:
Aiyen Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Always interesting when someone wants to go through the hassle of creating animated meshes for skyrim. The visual change is sort of nice I agree... would have to see it ingame to really get a good enough feel for it though. And like you said then it is still early in the development... a few critical changes will have to be made before I will make a full transition... them flowing LOD waterfalls are just too sexy!
alt3rn1ty Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I love Laasts Pure weather and Pure water, this is even more nice work to compliment the latter I feel. With Laasts Pure Water he corrects the flow and roughness of the water a little more than Realistic Water Two or W.A.T.E.R does, its a bit calmer looking in may places. So I think his mod needed this change even more than vanilla waters do. I am a recent convert to Pure Waters, since I found out his Pure Weather also addresses the grey water edge during fog and rain weather .. His Pure Water has been tailored to suit those weathers too. Thank you for spotting it TA, I would have missed this beauty, bookmarked for developments.
aaltair Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) I just found this mod yesterday and became an instant fan. The author of SkyFalls just posted a few days ago that he is working on a patch but that it may not be completely necessary if using Dyndolod. Honestly I would use this mod even if it meant my LOD waterfalls would be ice bricks forever, I love it that much. I live in a land of waterfalls and see them just about every day, and what TechAngel said about the amount of water coming over the falls not matching the flow at the bottom is spot-on and has always really bugged me, along with the falls at the topline which are way too smooth- even with a water mod they look more like ski slopes than waterfalls to me. This mod fixes that. Here's a couple quick comparison shots I took: No waterfall mod: (Using RW2): With Waterfall mod (using Pure Waters, but it's also compatible with RW2) Links to full sizes: waterfalls no waterfalls Edited May 1, 2015 by aaltair
