IDzeroNo Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54970/? I use these blank Skyrim - Textures.bsa 0 bytes , To save me load time , because , I have ALL the textures replaced.
DanielCoffey Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 But won't you have to re-download the main texture files from Steam if you ever have to reinstall? If you archive the files, you don't save the space.
Livnthedream Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Also, don't those not load if you have loose files?
DoubleYou Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I very much doubt that you have replaced all of those textures.
Aiyen Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Okay this looks rather suspicious... sorry to say. It just does not make sense.. if you replace every texture from the bsa. with loose alternatives... you would still need to load the alternatives and hence not gain anything. Also the lack of info and very limited description page etc. just makes me think that this is either a prank mod or something sinister!
Octopuss Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 No need for conspiration theories, it's just useless nonsense mod. The archive contains empty textures.bsa. That's all.Just another case of waste of Nexus server storage.
IDzeroNo Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Some people like it but alas. No, you don't have to re download you just move your orginial skyrim - textures out of the data folder. No need for conspiration theories, it's just useless nonsense mod. The archive contains empty textures.bsa. That's all.Just another case of waste of Nexus server storage. It's not a waste if people have downloaded and endorsed it :). Edited June 17, 2014 by IDzeroNo
Octopuss Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) People often download and endorse the weirdest stuff... :PYou can achieve the same thing by editing skyrim.ini, btw. Edited June 17, 2014 by Octopuss 1

Aiyen Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 If you did not know you could do that then all is fine! Sorry for suspecting it of being ... sinister stuff! Just with the recent influx of stuff like that on nexus then one have to be keep an eye out!
Octopuss Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Did Bethesda ever release any meaningful documentation for the inis? I guess not. Would be pretty helpful. 1
IDzeroNo Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Here is the best way to explain. "I originally believed that I had replaced all the textures and when I played with this mod installed I saw a few "purple" objects indicating that some had never been replaced. So I simply used BSA unpacker to unpack the original "vanilla" bsa, and copied and pasted it over my installed game textures folder. When it asked to replace textures, I just asked it to "skip" all textures that might be overwritten (by vanilla) and was thus able to obtain the missing (unreplaced) textures even though I wasn't quite sure which ones they were. I would suggest that anyone using this tactic do so very carefully and only after making a backup because you could easily lose all your texture replacements. However, this procedure worked pretty well for me so I thought I would post it in case you are not sure whether you have by now replaced all the original Bethesda textures or not. Worked like a charm!" - Restutitor Orbis

IDzeroNo Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Which would be entirely unnecessary if they had never installed this mod!So does Skyrim still load the the .bsa even tho it's redundant? (I'm not talking about my mod.)
