The way I see it, this new Nexus'sfeature only makes it worse. In my opinion, vast majority of people click on things without reading, either because they are partially stupid (older people like my parents, who, when prompted to install something, keep clicking next next next until their computers are full of ****), OR because they want to get rid of whatever is being forced on them asap. And that's exactly where the new wave of endorsements comes from: (again, IMO) from people who want the damn new window disappear so they can go back to browsing. These endorsements are as unreal as can be. Authors are happy about them, but it's completely false idea of increased popularity, I'm afraid.

I'm not quite sure what all the angst about being "forced to endorse" is all about.

Me neither. Did someone use the word "forced" in another thread? I can't find it anywhere on this one.

I'll admit to feeling pestered on occasion, and I could do without the extra noise and distraction in the popup. On the whole though, I like to think of that less as "angst" and more as "expressing a preference".

I both like and dislike the reminder.  When I start Nexus Mod Manager (which I used to use and where I usually endorsed mods), I get asked to login, which is normal.  What's not normal is that every time this happens lately, in bright red, it says "Cannot reach the Nexus login server."  So, I do everything offline, and that means I can't endorse any mods from within NMM.  I just recently decided to start a new game of Skyrim using STEP, so I have Mod Organizer now, but I haven't used it.  The online reminder would be really nice:  there are a LOT of mods I want to endorse that I haven't been able to endorse through NMM and until this thread, I didn't even know about the download history on Nexus itself.  The problem is that it keeps picking mods I haven't even TRIED yet:  so I don't want to say that I don't want to endorse them, but I don't want to endorse them . . . YET.  I can see how it would be seen as nagging, but I find it mostly a good idea with poor execution.  I don't feel like it's trying to get me to endorse EVERYTHING I've downloaded, although the fact that it keeps picking mods I've downloaded but haven't tried is irritating.  Maybe there are some people who just click everything, but I think most people do read before doing things.  And of course I can't really blame the Nexus site:  how would it know which mods I've tried?  I guess I just wish it either 1) had a longer list, or 2) didn't continuously display the same unendorsed/unignored mods.

Vorona - you will want to make sure you are using the latest version of NMM. Some older versions are barred from logging into the Nexus servers. NMM is their own tool and should work well with the new endorsement reminders. If you are on the newest version then check your NMM login details.

I've found that the pop-up to endorse isn't necessarily up to date with my actual endorsement history, in other words it may be asking me to endorse a mod that I have already endorsed. This is a problem because the endorsement button is a toggle and endorsing a secong time actually "unendorses" as I discovered to my chagrin. If I have a mod in my lineup (STEP, or a personal favorite) I feel it should be endorsed. I'm not saying I think a mod is perfect or finished by endorsing, just complimenting the author on their effort and recommending it to others by way of the endorse function.
