z929669 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Okay' date=' so I put in the the enbhost.exe and I'm still not getting the confirmation that this is being used. I've read the OP and it's just not working for me, can anyone give me ideas on why it's not?[/quote']OK, I am not aware of any log for enbhost process, but I imagine that there could be an option to print to one in the INI (could someone that knows more about ENB features assist?)/snip Also' date=' my fullscreen or windowed skyrim is not crashing when alt-tabbing.[/quote']This is the one maddening thing that I would like to resolve. I use Alt+Tab to bring up VMMap or Process Hacker (skyrim is running and I hear the audio still) and then attempt to Alt+Tab back into Skyrim. First try gives me black windowed mode (still hear Skyrim audio up to this point). The secont Alt+Tab results in TESV process crash. I seem to recall a 'fix' that helps sith Alt+Tabbing (I thought we had it in STEP?!?). Am I nuts? Anybody have any tips? EDIT: found it ... Double Cursor fix. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it though./snip EDIT:This troubleshooting and minidump request should be added to the OP. I agree. Anyone on staff feel free to compile all useful info into the OP and edit what is currently there as you see fit. I hastily posted a few things, but it could probably be improved upon and scope increased.
TechAngel85 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I never had any issues Alt+tabbing with Skyrim either unless I did it a lot in a short amount of time ( 5+ times within a few minutes ) then and only then would Skyrim sometimes CTD when doing so. Sent from my Moto X using Tapatalk.
egocarib Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 hellianos, how's it going for you, and what are you all using? I have the same rig as you, "1GB vram and 6gb of triple channel ram." Are you benefiting from this? I've read this entire thread (okay, I skimmed a few pages  ) and it's still unclear to me whether ENBoost is required or not. According to ENBoost install instructions I don't have enough VRAM to run ENBoost (I also tried it a few months back and it didnt seem to do anything for me). However, I get frequent ILS and some CTDs using a pared down STEP install, with only a few custom picked mods thrown in, so I'm hoping this (or something) might help.. eager to start a new playthrough but I need a bit more stability first.
egocarib Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Heh, well.. pretty definitive test here. My game won't even load normally from the first default autosave at the Helgen scene. I install this, and it loads every time. Reproduced this every time - ILS without, loads in about 30 seconds with it. So I guess that means it works without ENBoost. :) Will report back later if things continue going well.
phazer11 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I'm rather sick atm and can't be asked to go through all the posts. The mould did a number on me threw up a few times but if I was only able to make one post today it had to be this: What's the skinny? 29 pages is a rather lot to troll through with a migraine and since I've been out of my house staying with friends until my house isn't trying to kill me I haven't been able to research this or anythig else for STEP and Skyrim for a couple weeks. Anyone able to give a TLDR version would be a godsend atm.
blitzen Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 My testing, may be it will be useful. I installed this memory patch and ran over Skyrim with speedmult 300 - no crashes. Then i increased uGridsToLoad to 7 - no crashes (i even tried 9, but it is less stable and somewhere FPS drops significantly). Then i installed Expanded Towns and Cities - no crashes (before i can't use ETaC at all because of instant crashes). Then i installed Footprints, Enhanced Blood Textures, Skyrim Immersive Creatures, Immersive Patrols, Organized Bandits in Skyrim, Inconsequential NPC and had several crashes after watching of big battles (Immersive Patrols). I noticed that the longer i watch the battle - the more FPS drop down. I think that because of EBT. Then i noticed that i forgot about EBT patch for SIC, installed it and also replace EBT blood textures with 512. Now it seems more stable, i experienced only one crash (unusual crash with C++ error message). Total play time with new memory patch is about 8 hours, 3-4 crashes. Before that patch i experienced crashes every about 20-30 min, with default uGridsToLoad, and much less mods (especially "heavy" mods). Curiously now i mostly limited by the power of videocard (GTX780 with 3 Gb VRAM). With uGridsToLoad=7 and ETaC in new Folkreath FPS sometimes drop down to 15-20. Another similar heavy place - area around Whiterun with Whiterun Outskirts Market mod. Sorry for my English. EDIT: forgot to add memory patch settings: default 512/256.Are you using ENBoost? If not, you might want to try it and see if you have different results. If you already use ENBoost, can you try it again using 768/512 for memory block sizes? That seems to eliminate crashing for some people that still crashed at 512/256.

phazer11 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Yes. I gathered as much but I was wondering about the how it does so and what kind of returns it gives.
Solongchu Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 For me this is working great I got rid of Hialgo and went from 160 mods to 200 today with 0 ctd or freezes.I even put in Hall of Dovahdor which I could never even get past the front door with out ctd.I have run the game for over 8 hours going to all the places I could never go to with out fast traveling to get through the bad spots and even left my game running while I ran some errands for an hour which is something I never could do before without coming back to see that my game ctded so this is definitely working for me. Also a friend of mine has been running it without enb since it came out and he has had 0 crashes or freezes since it came out and is actually using mods he could never use before on his rig.

Now i would play more with current settings to collect more statistics about (possible) crashes. I experienced several crashes with Enhanced Blood Textures and big battles from Immersive Patrols, but i'm not sure if culprit is EBT. Need more testing. EDIT: another example - Mzadahrk player home (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48988/?). Before game often crashes when entering to house/exiting to Skyrim or moving between workshop and main hall. Now no single crash, even with all mannequins dressed and all weapon racks, plaques and showcase used.

I think it happens with Immersive Creatures and may be in conjunction with another mod. The only ones form your list I also have are inconsequential NPC and footprints. ENB only puts out log.log but nothing about ENBoost as far as I knowYou can use task manager and look for enbhost.exe, sort by memory easy to spot while it grows together with texv.exeIf memory servers me right it needs ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true and ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true and also EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=true is loading the texture away from tesv.exe right into the graphics card without using enbhost.exe. This will make alt-tabbing non functional and only work with windowed.
Crimson13 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 @sheson I alt+tabbed after starting up Skyrim and enbhost.exe didn't show up in the Task Manager. I started Skyrim like usual, through MO using SKSE. Is doing it that way not working or ?

Crimson13 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I'm pretty sure, but knowing me I screwed something up. I downloaded StableuGridsToLoad, got the enblocal.ini that fit my videocard VRAM and put it in the skyrim folder along with enbhost.exe, and the d3d9.dll file was already there (I think from RCRN, but it's date is from 12/3/11 which is odd.). I modified the SKSE.ini with [Memory] Enable=1 MemBlock1=512 MemBlock2=256 and replaced the skse_steam_loader with the one from the OP. Did I do everything correctly?
Noobsayer Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Using Neo's version, I am not getting the notification that it's working. Here's what I did:I overwrote the skse_steam_loader.dll in my main skyrim folder with his file.I went into my SKSE.ini and added this:[Memory]Enable=1MemBlock1=512MemBlock2=256I looked in Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SKSE/ and opened the skse_steam_loader log file. This is all it says? skse loader 01060100 (steam) 01CF1A5F42ABD892 6.1 (7601)base addr = 73D30000GetSystemTimeAsFileTime IAT = 0106B1D8original GetSystemTimeAsFileTime = 752A34A9patched GetSystemTimeAsFileTime = 73D317F0GetStartupInfoA IAT = 0106B1D0original GetStartupInfoA = 752A0E00patched GetStartupInfoA = 73D31810InstallHook: thread = 2884 retaddr = 00F69112 hookSrc = 0appPath = C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\TESV.exedwSignature = FEEF04BDdwStrucVersion = 00010000dwFileVersionMS = 00010009dwFileVersionLS = 00200000dwProductVersionMS = 00010009dwProductVersionLS = 00200000dwFileFlagsMask = 00000017dwFileFlags = 00000000dwFileOS = 00000004dwFileType = 00000001dwFileSubtype = 00000000dwFileDateMS = 00000000dwFileDateLS = 00000000version = 0001000900200000steam exedll = C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\skse_1_9_32.dllold winmain = 0069D1D0runtime root = C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\config path = C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\SKSE\skse.iniOnHook: thread = 2884calling winmainSo nothing about Sheson's memory patch. I thought I followed the instructions carefully but is there something I'm missing? Gonna redownload and replace again but that's really all I can think of to do now. EDIT: Nope, no go. I use an ENB so I already have d3d9.dll, enbhost/local. I'm also crashing after I run around for a minute or two (I removed Safety Load). New card, GTX 780. Bottlenecked a bit by my CPU/motherboard currently but I have high framerate with minor hitching that I'm trying to sort out. My memory settings in enblocal match my actual VRAM. EDIT EDIT: I also do have stableUgridstoload but left it at the default ugrids.
