TechAngel85 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I like this and if, in fact, they are suppose to be transparent, then it's an obvious improvement. The only thing I don't like is that you lose some of the "rainbow" coloring from vanilla. Lore seems to support the transparency, Referring to it as an "ice" like ore.
EssArrBee Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Here are the shots for these mods. I see only one issue and that is the mesh on the Stalhrim next to the crypts. There is some stretching, but maybe it can be addressed by the author or maybe Brumbek. Vanilla->Opaque->Semitrans->TransCryptStalhrim around cryptStalhrim on ground and crypts I like the semitrans or opaque. I guess cloudy ice is about right depending where it forms and how exposed to water it is.
DoubleYou Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 As it stands, I do not like it. The stretching is a problem for me.
TechAngel85 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I have to agree with DY on this one. Until that horrible UV mapping (or whatever) is fixed, this is a no go. The bad thing is, the textures are good. The author just needs to fix those meshes. It's not apparent on vanilla because the vanilla texture is as equally as bad as the mesh is (or maybe it's not seeing the recent fix on the cave meshes made the vanilla texture 10x better).
Guest Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Caution: Barf inducing scaled vanilla texture present. Why oh why? Edit: Sorry if the author reads this, but I'm tired so being blunt will have to do. No offense. Edited May 31, 2014 by Guest
DoubleYou Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Caution: Barf inducing scaled vanilla texture present. Why oh why?Where? All I get is a skse plugin.
Guest Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Where? All I get is a skse plugin.Confuzzled. Anyway, I have some textures lying around I could merge and do some trickery with for this. Could I link them here to see what you guys think? If it's any good I will probably take it further, do some UV editing and maybe something may come of it. It's late afternoon here and I need something to eat first, but yeah?
Guest Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Sorry if the image is big, but here is the progress. Yeah it's 4k, but I'm sure you lot can 1k or 2k it. Thoughts? Normal map will have to be a quick stint, but it's up to you to look in-game and give me some thoughts. The right image is this mod if anyone doesn't know. As I said before... Why scale? Look at it. I tried to keep with vanilla colours. Edit: dlc2stahtextures.7z 4k diffuse saved in DXT5, Kaiser filter mipmaps. 1k Normal, uncompressed, Kaiser mipmaps, no alpha like original (it's ice!). If that means anything to anyone. Probably not important. Edited May 31, 2014 by Guest
EssArrBee Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 You could always open a thread in the Mod Author Sub Forum. It is semi private, so people can't see what you're doing if it is awful.
DoubleYou Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 Sorry, I had my brain screwed on another thread. Thanks for that texture. Will look at it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Although I have admitted the normal map was quick, but I suppose people could use the default one if that is not good enough. Bethesda 3D "baked" theirs and I ain't got no time for that! Also I am just UV'in the meshes so it will look better. Will hopefully have those up before I go out tonight. Working for STEP now. Edit: Did I do good? Forgot to label it, but I am sure you can guess. CK by the way. Edited May 31, 2014 by Guest
Guest Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Looking good to me!Thanks, good to hear. I was surprised with the mesh difference. Looks like Bethesda got the interns to make that! Also I left the edges of the mesh hard (Beth's are soft) so it looks more like ice. Will carry on and finish it then pass the meshes onto you guys too. Then if you want me to upload it, or someone here uploads it when we are happy - job done.
EssArrBee Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Have you looked at dlc02/clutter/dlc2stalhrimpile.nif and dlc2stalhrimpile02.nif? THose had awful stretching in them.
