Discussion topic:
Vanilla Script (micro)Optimizations by Subhuman0100
Wiki Link

"It is aimed at increasing the overall efficiency of vanilla scripts: faster execution and reduced memory usage.  The hope is that by decreasing the amount of resources Papyrus has to devote to vanilla scripts, a person can use more mods before running into performance issues."

There have been a few bug reports.  This might not be a preferred mod to install and use on an existing save.

I've used this mod since it was released and still do use it, but I don't recommend it for STEP at this time:

  • 1 script is out of date with USSEP 4.2.8+ and breaks the transit of Khajiit caravans.
  • 1 plugin change apparently breaks the kid adoption quest.

Until an official or 3rd-party easy-to-install fix or update is available, it can't be used (without manually fiddling with it to work around the issues).

Looks like it is now compatible with USSEP.

Yes. Both issues I noted in my previous post have been fixed in the recent 1.1.7 update.

Not to resurrect 2023 posts like Szass Tam or Vecna could easily do but this mod is still mentioned even today although it has been bumped by Ultimate Optimized Scripts Compilation.

Ultimate Optimized Scripts Compilation at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com)

But author say Vanilla Script (micro) optimizations can load after it. I know a few lists that run this mod, and I am honestly not sure if it's within the STEP mandate or not. If it could be then I can create a mod post for it.

I don't think this script AIO should be used versus the other option above or at all. These are loose files and will overwrite CACO, Odin, Vokrii, Improved Traps, TIE, etc, that is a big no no. If someone wants to review them through Champollion or similar app but I doubt anyone here wants to do that. And, unless the guide states, we are going to be hiding all conflicting scripts outside of USSEP. Thoughts?

  • This mod is not an AIO. It's an original single mod. It is included in AIOs such as Ultimate Optimized Scripts Compilation, so it becomes redundant if used with such AIO.
  • This mod's scripts are packaged in a BSA, not as loose files. Its plugin is meant to be loaded very high (e.g. just below USSEP) so that the scripts in its BSA can be overwritten by other mods.

I don't really understand your points, as none of them apply to this mod (VSmO - the mod being discussed in this topic). If you were actually talking about the Ultimate Optimized Scripts Compilation mod itself, then I'd agree partially, but it's not clear which mod(s) you're referring to by 'this script AIO' and 'the other option above'.

You are right they are not loose files; I must have been thinking of UOSC which comes in loose format. However, Satyre has provided a version with the .bsa in the comments. What I meant by these script mods being a 'all in one' is that they tend to cover many scripts throughout the game and not just a specific focus. If I was going to use one of these script bundles, I would use UOSC and follow its instructions on what is included/compatible, etc.

What is the context of 'AIO' in this discussion? It's ambiguous.

Our acronym expansion provides "AI Overhaul" as the hover text.

People that have never installed this mod (e.g., me) likely have no idea what "script AIO" and "the other option" refer to.

As Greg hinted at above, it stands for 'All In One'. That is: several individual components in a series, assembled into a single downloadable and installable package. Typically: a compilation of related components from the same mod (e.g. main mod + all optional downloads), or a compilation of related mods from the same MA (e.g. all retexture mods from MA lambda). By 'All', it's understood that the collection is complete.

So AIO is actually not an appropriate designation for either mod discussed here.

Hope this clarifies.

Yes. I'm familiar with the all-in-one concept, but I failed to connect the dots. Thanks for clarifying :)
