In my opinion this is better for a vanilla replacement than the one that STEP currently uses.

A lot of the Ren's Shirines are a bit cartoon in their looks. I was surprised how well the vanilla shrines holds up.

 

For Akatosh I would go with either STEP or Remiro's depending on if you think it should be more rusted or not.

For Arkay, Dibella, Julianos  I would go with Remiro's

For Kyne either Vanilla or Remiro

For Mara and Stendarr I actually prefer vanilla. Not by much.

For Talos and Zenithar Remiro

 

So yeah, my vote would go for Remiro's replacing STEP. I like that they are closer to vanilla while still being a nice improvement.

Ramiro is more true to the original vanilla shrines in most cases. I'd go with Ramiro's if it's higher res than vanilla. Otherwise, I'd go with vanilla. Let's hear from others though.

Don't forget, we can mix and match. STEP is Ren's HD Shines, for reference.

• Akatosh: STEP : Both are complete changes. I prefer STEP. Remiros turns it into a gemstone-like texture.
• Arkay: STEP : STEP's is gilded, which I kinda like. Remiros is closer to vanilla in the fact that it doesn't add gold, but it is also a complete color change. So take your pick. I like STEP.
• Dibella: STEP : Both, again, are changes. STEP's is another gilded-style. Remiros is closer to vanilla-style, but is still a change...it's almost muted vs vanilla. I prefer STEP again.
• Julianos: Remiros : Remiros looks best here. No doubts.
• Kynareth: undecided : Honestly, I can't decide. None? Is there a none option? STEP's fits better with the surrounding textures, but Remiros is, again a change, but still closer to vanilla. However, Remiros also pays to emphases to the stone and almost mutes it again.
• Mara: STEP : This is the wrong option for STEP. It should be the Gilded Saint....if it is, it's too dark to tell. I much prefer STEP's. Not only does the gilding add to an otherwise uninteresting stone statue compared to the others, but STEP's also has a far better face.
• Stendarr: undecided : Both are changes, again. Take your pick. I have no strong preference here.
• Zenithar: Remiros : Remiros is clearly better here too.
• Talos: Remiros : Remiros is the best of the bunch here, as well.

After the screenshots i still prefer Remiro's, for me Ren's (current STEP) is too muh fantasy but i wouldnt mind mix and matching.

I'm mostly agreeing with @TechAngel for most of these:

 

Akatosh: STEP

Arkay: STEP

Dibella: STEP

Julianos: Remiros' Shrines HD

Kynareth: I do not like any of these, but I think it's primarily because the vanilla design is so bad. It look as is someone removed an air pump from a forge and put a clown face on it.

Mara: STEP

Stendarr: I could go with either, but I have a very slight leaning toward Remiros' Shrines HD

Zenithar: Remiros' Shrines HD

Talos: Remiros' Shrines HD

Yeah... sorry for the darker lighting. It was easier to go to the Temple of the Divines besides my current character being in Whiterun already. I might have chosen wrong for Ren's Mara. After reinstalling, here it is again in Riften.

 

Vanilla>STEP>Remiros' (Remiro's was picking up a lot of candle shadow though.)

 

Looking through them again and considering mixing I would go with:

 

Akatosh: STEP
Arkay: Remiros'
Dibella: STEP
Julianos: Remiros'
Kynareth: Vanilla I guess
Mara: STEP
Stendarr: Remiros'
Zenithar: Remiros'
Talos: Remiros'

I would go with whatever is most like vanilla (material/color) but improved (more detail/higher def) with compromise if the improvement is a deviation from vanilla but clearly more aesthetically pleasing.

 

Here's what I DON'T prefer (I don't favor any one in particular except STEP's Akatosh):

 

Julianos: not STEP
Kynareth: not STEP
Stendarr: not STEP
Zenithar: not STEP
Talos: not STEP
