Mousetick Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 I tried the updated textures and I couldn't see any difference on Frodnar or Dorthe's faces. If you look at the textures in MO2 and compare update vs. original, the faces are identical and the main differences are on the hands and bodies. I can't tell the difference on Frodnar's hands in-game: Also the mod's author had this comment on the update: Quote The file is bigger, because the previous version used the same body texture between the dirty and clean versions, but the skin update has separate textures for each version now. Since there is a full set of each option now, the file is slightly larger. -- There is a patch for the missing USSEP reference in FaceGenForKids.esp, to avoid diving into SSEdit to clean it up: Simple Children - USSEP Aventus Aretino Patch (Nexus). It simply forwards the original USSEP record. However LOOT is not aware of this fix and still complains about the bug in FaceGenForKids.esp.
Arel Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 So do we get the "Simple Children - Updated Textures" file as well or not?

If you do install it, merge it with the main file. I didn't quite get what it does exactly. Does the game uses two stages for child skin? Clean and dirty? I mean does it change while we are playing and does the child get dirty or something? I thought it was only a choice when installing

I thought it was only a choice when installing No it doesn't change. It's either clean or dirty all the time. In order to remain consistent with the guide's aesthetic choice (vanilla-like) you should select the 'Clean Face and Body Textures' option in the FOMOD installer. But you can select the dirty option of course if you prefer. 1
ozoak Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 I reached this mod in the guide, and have proceeded to xEdit after installing and merging the update, the xEdit instruction may now be redundant? I can't see it referenced in the USSEP changelog (though that thing is a beast and in my experience over the years not everything gets recorded), but it looks like USSEP is no longer causing the issue in facegenforkids.esp? I'll defer to experts here as this goes beyond the edits I normally do. (And crossing my fingers I'm not embarassing myself by overlooking something else - I promise I deleted and redownloaded, reinstalled [twice] and re-read instructions half a dozen times to try and rule that out.)

Looking at this in xEdit, I'm wondering if you have made previous edits to the Package subrecords. This is what I show in xEdit for latest USSEP (what you should see) and FacegenForKids before edit (FacegenForKids2.esp ... what you should see) and after edit (FacegenForKids.esp).
hellxkitten Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Hello all, I am on the Character Appearance portion of the Step Guide and I have run into an issue. For the Simple Children mod the instructions read: Quote Run xEdit using MO, and click [OK] when the Module Selection window appears. All plugins should be selected by default. Click [OK] again without selecting any ModGroups. Type or paste 00014132 into the FormID filter. Scroll down to Packages(aligned). In the FacegenForKids column, right-click on [REFR:XX000808] and click Remove in the context menu. 'XX' will vary, depending on the Load Order (LO) of the USSEP plugin. Close xEdit, saving the edited plugin when prompted. However, after scrolling to Packaged(aligned) I notices that there is no column named "FacegenForKids" nor is there anything saying [REFR:XX000808]. So I am unsure how to proceed from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The image shows you the context. The first two characters denote the load order sequence, so 'xx' is just a placeholder. The FacegenForKids.esp will be shown at the top. You need to have sorted your LO with LOOT.

Apologies, I am new to these forums and I did try to search for relevant info. The problem here is that I don't even have the FacegenForKids column at all. It cannot be compared to the reference screenshot for help because that column does not exist in my download. I followed the steps exactly up until that point. I even tried to JUST look for facegenforkids.esp when first opening xEdit and it does not show up. Are you saying that the column not showing up at all has to do with my LO in LOOT?

Are you saying that the column not showing up at all has to do with my LO in LOOT? First, your plugins aren't sorted properly, so run LOOT to sort before opening up the LO in xEdit. Second, if you don't have FacegenForKids.esp and SimpleChildren.esp, then you either didn't install and enable Simple Children, or something went wrong with the archive you downloaded. First, check the MO left pane to see if you have Simple Children installed and enabled (start typing 'simple' at the bottom of the left pane in the filter next to the broom). If you do, then double click on it, and go to the Files tab to see if the plugins are there. If the mod is enabled and the plugins are not installed, delete the archive, Simple Children Main - FOMOD (Main, v1.1), from Downloads in the MO right pane. Then re-download that mod and reinstall it according to the instructions. Also make certain the Simple Children mod is enabled in the left pane and that all plugins are enabled in the right pane of MO.

Whitestar127 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I have come to step 8 now in the https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/SkyrimSE:2.3 guide. Just wanted to do a sanity check. After running LOOT in step 7 I get this warning: Can it be ignored, or do I need to go back and redo something?

Whitestar127 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 But ummm...wouldn't that mean that TK loses some file conflicts that it's supposed to be winning? I assume the guide places it there for a reason?
