STEP SE Notes:
Test Files: Depends on what is currently winning for STEP SE. The 2K version is likely the right candidate, however, if the current textures are 4K, then test against both 4K and 2K.

I think i prefer the Better Dirtcliffs Mod.

The thing is that in the first picture it looks like old dead roots and therfore less dirt, in Better Dirt Mod it looks more like living roots and therefore more dirt.

But i really think it is best down by the water under the overhang, looks natural  and realistic to have some dirt there so close to  the water.

But it is really up to taste. (How long would roots look healthy in the air llike in the Better Dirtcliffs Mod before turning into dry and grey roots? :)

I like where this mod is going and in many cases seems like an improvement ... but I think the dirt is too dark in some cases and contrasts too much with the bedrock. The third compare set really shows this. Looks like there was an oil spill. I would love it if the author lightened the dirt up just a bit. LOD would look really stark.

Vanilla doesn't look good either, but blends better, especially in the distance.

I have to agree with Z. I look far better but fails with the dirt texture for our Guide. It's just far too dark and is made to blend with a specific dirt texture from a specific mod...which is obvious in our case. It's a good mod, just not made for our mod list. I'm tracking it in hopes that an option for lighter dirt textures will be made available in the future.

I thought I had already commented on this one, but I agree that the dark surface dirt seems out of place to me.

I followed the STEP guide for SSE to the letter and booted up the game prior to the Mod Configuration Menu Settings settings near the end of the guide.
The game loads, but pressing Esc or Tab crashes it immediately.
I installed SkyUI (which I figured was the problem), sorted with LOOT, and now I have no issues.

Just a heads-up, the SSE 1.0.0 guide does not list SkyUI as a mod to download.  It contains patches related to SkyUI, but not the mod itself.
Great guide, guys!  It was easy to follow and I have zero complaints so far!

      Hello,
Not too long ago I modded my game after following the current STEP guide for SSE. After that, over time I added a few more mods not included in the guide and one of the ENB presets suggested in the guide for Cathedral Weathers, namely A Cathedralist's ENB. I downloaded and installed the high-quality main file from here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/25296?tab=files . I have been playing the game during weeks without game-breaking issues and the ENB has been working fine.
Very recently, however, I have noticed that the brightness output level in-game has suddenly shrunk. I have started to see things darker while I am playing. I play in exclusive fullscreen mode. However, any changes in the in-game brightness slider do nothing while I am playing. But if I quit to the main menu, there the previously adjusted brightness level is apparent. In other words, any changes made to the in-game brightness only reflect themselves while in the main menu, not while I am playing. Is that normal? Does it happen because I have installed ENB 0.462 and the aforementioned preset? Of course, I can always adjust the brightness levels in the in-game ENB menus. But it puzzles me that any changes made to the vanilla brightness slider only are apparent once I quit to the main menu of the game.
      Thank you for reading me.

      Hello,
I'm following the STEP guide for SSE.  I've gotten to the H segment of the Models & Textures section.  A couple of these have not had an ESP file.
Do I need to have it ticked in the left window of MO2?  I'm up to 85 mods enabled now, just following the guide, and I'm concerned that I'll reach the 255 limit before I'm done.
I've used the search function in the forums, but there are hundreds of results for "no esp".
      Thanks in advance.
