Question

Greetings everyone,

I returned to modding my Skyrim SE again after a long while. This time I had started modding using Vortex instead of Mod manager. I would also like to mention beforehand that I am no modding expert, I am just a casual modder, I'm aware of all the modding basics and such but that's about it. I'm also very familiar with DynDOLOD and have used it in the past with no problems. Although, the DynDOLOD process did not go too smoothly for me this time around. After installing all my mods, I did the Dyndolod procedure in order starting by installing Dyndolod and Dyndolod Resources SE and than I got PapyrusUti SE and all the needed Lod Resources. Everything was in order and I began the Texgen process which went smooth but the dyndolod process itself did not. I did several retries and reinstall of mods etc. When the Dyndolod process ends it mentions about errors and such. I would very much appreciate any help I can get for fixing this issue as I am very lost and don't quite understand how to proceed. I also hope I provided all the necessary info regarding this problem.

Sheson has a dedicated DynDoLod support subforum on here I suggest you post this in there instead where he can see it or possibly ask a moderator to move it.

The attached LODGen log shows these errors

meshes\lod\rocks\rockl02_lod_0.nif can not read file
meshes\lod\rocks\reach\rockpilem01reach_lod_0.nif can not read file
meshes\lod\tundra\yellow\rocktundraland02yellow_lod_0.nif can not read file
Error processing meshes\lod\tundra\tundrarocks\rocktundraland01tundrarocks_lod_1.nif Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

Those files typically loose in the data folder (or whatever the data folder means depending on the used mod manager) installed from DynDOLOD Resources.

It might be possible they are corrupt from bad download or bad unpacking.
It is also possible there are access problems because of UAC or antivirus.

Do not install DynDOLOD into any game folders. See the manual for installation instructions.

Hmm... I see. I switched back to nexus mod manager before I read your post and reinstalled every single mod on there instead of vortex. I'll be having a go for a second time but on nexus mod manager this time and see how dyndolod works as I have also redownloaded its "Resources SE" again. Also i'd like to mention that I had put the dyndolod folder in the game directory because I had followed "Gamerpoets" installation guide on skyrim Dyndolod where he shows putting the dyndolod folder inside his skyrim game folder. I also have no antivirus installed on my pc. Can you also please tell me if the dyndolod errors might have been caused due to vortex by any chance? It was my first time using it and i'm not sure if that mod manager is all safe and good. I do not recall having problems with dyndolod while using nexus mod manager in the past. So is there a possibility it could have been vortex? And thank you for your response ! : )

I have no idea what the exact reason for the file errors could be. However, NMM is outdated and nobody should use Vortex to mod any game that is supported by proper mod managers like MO.

It has failed again and given me the usual errors... it can not read several ".nif files" resulting in incomplete static lod etc. I dont have an anti virus, I did not install it inside the game folder or anywhere where UAC would be in the way and I also did not see any problem downloading and unpacking the archive. Everything seems good and in order and so I really just don't understand whats going wrong this time and why. I had a nice dyndolod install in the past with no issues and I love this mod so I would not want to play without it. I'm just very stuck now and can't think of any solution. Also, I have tried the solutions that you had provided in the forum, I ran the lodgen with just tamriel again and still no hope. Very frustrating. : (

The error message shows you the names of files that seem to have a problem.

So check that these files are actually accessible, readable and not corrupted.

They should exist as loose files in the data folder (or whatever the data folder means in the used mod manager)

Check if the files open in NifSkope.

Start xEdit, start its Asset Browser with CTRL+F3, enter the filename into the filter field, doubleclick the file in the list to open it with the default program (e.g. NifSkope)

I installed nifSkope and opened the files mentioned in the log with it and it seems like it works I can see all the polygon models and it all looks fine to me. Now what else should I do?

Zip the 4 files mentioned and upload them to a file service, so I can test them with LODGen.exe here and check want might be wrong.

The problem is I have noticed they are not always the same files. Each time I repeated the dyndolod process it gives me different files that have this error in the log and the number of files also changes each time sometimes its only 2 or 4 or several. Along with the "can not read file" I also get other different errors as you can check below.
