WilliamImm Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24740 This really simple mod fixes an issue when using both Dawnguard and the official High-Resolution Texture Pack together. When they are used together, Castle Volkihar looks quite ugly from a distance, due to the High-Res DLC using a version of the needed LOD without the normal maps for the castle. This mod fixes that by adding a higher resolution version of the Volkihar normal map to the needed LOD file. I would say this is a good candidate for STEP, probally belonging in the Fixes section. This mod only has one file (textures/terrian/tamriel/objects/tamriel.objects_n.dds), so it will conflict with anything that overwrites that file (other than Dawnguard and the high-res DLC)
Kelmych Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 The new HRDLC made some improvements to the Dawnguard Terrain normal map, but the discussion in the Bethesda Skyrim forum thread about the new HRDLC suggests this version in Dawnguard Terrain Object Normal Map Hi-Res Fixed and Improved is still a much better quality fix.
WilliamImm Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Kelmych, you should probably search the forums before you post a suggestion thread: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1370 I've already make a suggestion for this mod a while ago, after discovering it. (before the release of the new HRDLC)
Kelmych Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Merged the threads.Thanks. I apparently missed the previous post when I searched. Sorry.
Kelmych Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The new Unofficial High Resolution patch released today includes this texture. From one of the Bethesda forum discussions on the new High Res DLC, it looks like they included the version from this mod since it was much better than the updated one that Bethesda included in the updated High Res DLC.
