SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn

Recommended Posts

So I just got to the point of installing the optimized vanilla textures and I have 3 questions.

- In the prerequisites guide it says to enable BSA extractor (plugins sections) in MO (which I did) when I install the vanilla optimized textures should I have unpacked the .bsa or not? (the notification appears)

- If i do not unpack the .bsa from optimized vanilla textures, do i need to add those archive names into the skyrim.ini under sResourceArchiveList?

- lastly what should the load order be at this point?

 I have (left side MO window):

Unmanaged Dawnguard

Unmanaged Hearthfire

Unmanaged Dragonborn

Optimized Vanilla Textures - HD

Cleaned Vanilla ESMs

Optimized Dawnguard Textures - HD

Optimized Hearthfire Textures - HD

Optimized Dragonborn Textures - HD

Skyrim Script Extender

Thank you

yes extract the BSA (unless you need the hard drive space)

the order is thus:

  • Optimized Vanilla Textures - HD
  • Unmanaged: Dawnguard
  • Optimized Dawnguard Textures - HD
  • Unmanaged: HearthFires
  • Optimized HearthFires Textures - HD
  • Unmanaged: Dragonborn
  • Optimized Dragonborn Textures - HD

Sort em as follows:

Optimized Vanilla Textures - HD

Unmanaged Dawnguard

Optimized Dawnguard Textures - HD

Unmanaged Hearthfire

Optimized Hearthfire Textures - HD

Unmanaged Dragonborn

Optimized Dragonborn Textures - HD

Cleaned Vanilla ESMs

Skyrim Script Extender

Might drop something to this effect into the guide, actually.

Up to you if you extract the BSA's for these. I usually don't worry about these and only start extracting from Fixes onward. But I have a lot of space on my srive. If you are struggling for space, extract em.

And I've never bothered adding anything to the Skyrim.ini, never had an issue.

You should NOT extract them if struggling for space as they take up more space extracted.  Having said that there's really no reason whatsoever to extract the optimized texture packs.  The base textures (Optimized + BPT) should always be overwritten by everything above and everything below it (vanilla textures) are packed in BSA.  This means leaving those packed saves hard drive space and lowers load time while having no downsides.

If using Mod Organizer there's no need to update ini files as MO handles everything appropriately as configured in the guide.

that is a very good point JD. Nozzer can you add a note to not start extracting BSA's until the "Other fixes" Section

Question about the prerequisite guide - Cleaning the vanilla ESMs

Dawnguard.esm must also be cleaned twice to remove all duplicate records. When you clean Dawnguard.esm the first time, do not check "Backup Plugins" only check it the second time.

Shouldn't it be the other way round?

Making a backup during the first cleaning (so we have a backup of the vanilla esm)  but not at the second time (because who needs a backup of a once cleaned but still dirty esm?)

Agreed.

Written too fast I guess.

No need to backup after having removing files manually from the esm as well imo.

Maybe don't assume who's writing things too fast. If you prefer to do it the other way that's perfectly fine, too.

My bad. Still need to improve my english.

Not sure to undesrtand your point neither this time though. It doesn't matter much anyway.

DisableDriverMemoryManager=false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=128
