GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Right clicking the top bar under the .ini tab gives a couple options but I don't really see much. But just curious do you keep your .ini on read only always or do you uncheck read only as well whenever you use WB? Have you ever gotten the error in my last post?- 459 replies

Yes, sadly STEP is not the user friendly guide I desperately wish it was. Due to the lack of step-by-step instructions, it is only for those with an advanced knowledge of modding. This is likely the guide you are looking for. But while it does have step-by-step instructions, a moderate to advanced knowledge of modding and the programs is still required. As for time, it probably takes a minimum of 30 hours or so for a full installation if you somewhat know what you're doing. If you are simply just wanting to mod Skyrim without investing lots of time and learning everything you need to know, just watch these videos. You'll have a much easier time.

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Preparing to mod after playing the game: -Go to Oblivion.ini and uncheck 'read only', as WB gives me the error below when I click on installers with 'read only' checked and doesn't let me access installers -Start WB and do modding Preparing to start game after modding:-Close WB-Delete the .ini that WB has changed-Replace with an .ini that WB hasn't touched that retains the original formatting and that has 'read only' checked-Play game But interestingly I do always have MSI Afterburner running on my pc to manage my GPU fan speeds. Why do you ask?- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I have done nothing to the INI with WB. Simply starting WB somehow changes the INI or INI formatting. If the line breaks do not matter then WB is changing the INI in some other way as well. The game will never start after using WB with read only unchecked on the INI, but deleting the INI after WB has "changed" it or replacing it with one that I used before starting WB causes the game to not CTD any longer. It is a strange situation, but from what happens I can only assume that WB is damaging the INI, and the INI is what causes the game to crash.- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Well idk about the iPreloadSizeLimit stuff, I know Oblivion Reloaded gives a recommend setting for it though, but I am just using your # right now. I couldn't find any .ini settings in WB but WB is most definitely causing the problem and messing with the INI. When I turn off read only on the .ini and start WB it formats like in the second pic and always causes a instant CTD when launching the game. Then when I replace it with the .ini that doesn't have the formatting messed up and has read only checked the game always works, but WB gives an error about not being able to read the INI. But well I finished the guide and the game looks beautiful and amazing....but there's definitely a lot of issues like you said like missing meshes/textures, most people's eyes bulge from their head or glow like lights, roads floating in the sky, 1st person camera is kinda messed up, camera switches to 3rd person whenever I talk to someone, low fps in some areas, etc. I'm pretty sure this is because lots of the mods have had updates and some big updates like Oblivion Reloaded and a few others. Sadly I'm not really experienced enough to trouble shoot these problems and find a fix for these, so I'll be waiting for updates on the guide. Hopefully you will update it soon, won't you? :P- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Cool beans! :D Still been going through the guide and came across some stuff that hopefully you have the answers to, which I'll list below, but other than that everything seems fine so far. I also found out my issue that I was having earlier causing the CTD. Apparently this guy was having my exact problem, and he was using your guide funnily enough. But basically Wrye Bash refuses to work when I have the .ini file set to read only, but when I uncheck read only and start Wrye Bash it corrupts the .ini by taking out any line breaks and turns the .ini into basically one connected 'sentence' basically. So I have just been replacing the .ini with a backup version after every time I run Wrye Bash. You know of a fix for this? It is manageable just annoy to replace all the time. :P So just one question since I forgot the other things I was gonna ask about: In the memory .ini section you list iPreloadSizeLimit=104857600 first, then say you use 183500800. What is the first number? The 'recommend setting' or the default?- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Hey, so I really wanna play this game, so I've decided to just restart the guide and see what's causing me the problem, and I figured I'd just fix the stuff I saw along the way instead of just telling you everything. Fix #1: Fixed header at start. Fix #2: Improved the install instructions to be more clear, mention things like AA has to be off for HDR etc, moved the part about backing up files below to the correct section, and changed it to say to set to Fullscreen mode, as before it said to set to Windowed mode. (I'm pretty sure this was just a mistake, unless there is some reason it needs to be set to Windowed mode?) Fix #3: Improved the backup section (only 2 lines before) and added instructions for archiving the data folder. Fix #4: Took out 2 parts where Streamline was mentioned since that doesn't seem to be in the guide anymore. Added where to find .ini in .ini section, moved part about changing .ini to read only to end of .ini section where it is relevant. Fix #5: Fixed typos and syntax errors. Ex. Wyre / Wrye There is still more I've seen that needs to be changed but this is what I've done so far. I'll try to fix it up as I go along with the guide. Hope you're okay with me fixing it up and stuff. :P Sorry if you think I'm defiling your guide or something and I'll stop if you want me to.- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Hmm...maybe it is because of Windows 10 but I'm skeptical of that being the cause. (1 2) But if you don't have anymore suggestions I guess I'm just stuck. :P Although I did see this, but idk. And well if you're going to update it there was few things I saw that could be fixed or changed if you need some help.- 459 replies

Can anyone make a modding guide?
SynthetikHD replied to SynthetikHD's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Wow! Thanks man, I think you're the first to give me feedback on the guide haha. And by all means, spread the guide around. I was thinking about linking it on /r/witcher but I'm too lazy to do that. But yeah I haven't gotten TW3 and don't plan to until the Goty edition comes out so I can experience everything at once I suppose haha. -
GUIDE General Oblivion Support
SynthetikHD replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Still no luck with changing fonts. I've tried launching it from Steam and the .exe (which gives me that app load error at the bottom of the last pic). Launching from Steam loads a black screen for a few seconds then just crashes. Launching from .exe instantly gives app load error. And what have you been thinking about doing with the guide? Updating it again or just abandoning it? ._.- 459 replies

GUIDE The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition Modding Guide
SynthetikHD replied to SynthetikHD's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
I guess people usually make updates in their forums when they update their guide. So, the guide is finished after not working on it for a month :P Final Version Includes: Lots of fixes in syntax, spelling, directions, etc.Added an Optional Mods section to the guide that includes among other mods:My own mod for always winning dice and arm wrestling, for those who want it (compatible with the FCR2 mod)Reasonable nudity modA very nice custom story quest mod My guide has gotten over 500 views, which is really cool. I guess there are at least some people out there that have seen it or maybe even used it. Enjoy! -
Excalibr Not Detecting .esm from FWE (CTD)
SynthetikHD posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I think my topic title is the problem but I am not too sure. I've done well following the guide so far and have had no problems up until I installed the weapon mods. During my last successful play test, I had installed every mod up until the weapons mods, and after installing all the weapon mods I get a CTD. https://imgur.com/a/mKdKl The guide says, "Double click (eXcalibr) in the left pane of MO and move CALIBR.esm to Optional ESPs; FWE provides this plugin." (pic 1) However the .esm in 'eXcalibr' is actually called 'xCALIBR', not sure if that is important. Looking in 'FWE', the .esm seems to be called 'CALIBR'. (pic 2) Hovering over the plugin, it says (see pic 3) Clicking on problems also says (see pic 4) Seems like the simple fix would be to move the 'xCALIBR' .esm from optional plugins in the 'eXcalibr' mod, (haven't tried), but have I done something wrong since the guide says FWE already has the .esm but it seems to be a different name? -
I believe that it merged with DarnUI or FWE....possibly. But the UI and everything appears to be fine in-game, so maybe it is alright? I don't really understand the rest of what you said, being the newb that I am, sorry. All I know is that I followed the guide exactly, so I did all the extra steps with 'aHUD' and whatnot. I made the INI's in my MO profiles read only Installed 'DarnUI Support for FWE' right before 'aHUD' and I possibly merged the 'DarnUI Support for FWE' with either DarnUI or FWE (if i recall correctly) Started game and UI messed up Unchecked the read only setting for the INIs in all my MO profiles UI and HUD worked fine
-
Ahh, thank you, I am a bit of a newb so I'm sure that is something experienced people would have figured out right away. Maybe include the directions in the guide so people like me aren't thrown off? :: Yea sorry I seem to have done your directions to the "<data>" folder, not the "Data" folder. However, the numbers in the "menus\main\map_menu.xml" are still set to 724, so the fomod script didn't detect the correct Pipboy replacer plugin? I found the forum post mentioned in the guide, and it said "People getting 724 are likely using the internal fomod, not the external. I had to make MO use the external fomod in order to make it detect correctly. The instructions do actually say to use the external though." Kelmych you seem to have said, "I'll add a note for this mod about using the internal fomod processor." But no note seems to be added. Someone want to explain this one to me now?

Thank you again for replying to another one of my issues. Looks like I need further explanation. I right clicked and clicked 'Set Data Directory', but nothing happened. Still said no game data on top level and gave the 'likely not to work' message. Still is grayed out and in italics and when I hover over it, it says 'Hi-Res Pip-Boy contains no esm/esp and no asset directory.'
-
Another issue here.. https://imgur.com/a/mHf5c Either the 'Hi-Res Pip-Boy' isn't installing correctly or the 'High Detail Map and Icons' isn't detecting it. Pic #1: Click install 'Hi-Res Pip-Boy', says no game data on top level Pic #2: Click ok, says it likely won't work and says something about correcting the directory. I'm not sure what that means so I click ignore Pic #3: 'Hi-Res Pip-Boy is grayed out and in italics Pic #4: After installing 'High Detail Map and Icons' the lines I'm supposed to change are all set at 724 instead of 660 Tried reinstalling both and no luck.
-
This was indeed the solution. But I am confused, as it says in the INI Tweaks section to set them as read only?
-
I don't believe so. I downloaded the "Darn UI Support for FWE" file when downloading the other FWE files, but then installed it at the point in the guide where it is mentioned right before aHUD. Any recommendations? Thanks for fast feedback btw.

https://imgur.com/a/6cskG I just started the guide yesterday and have finished up the Core UI mods and am at the point where Vault Boy says to boot up the game. I am pretty sure I have done everything right and everything the guide says, but the text is cutoff in the menu and acting a bit weird in-game. It likely is a case of me doing something wrong rather than not doing something, but I am unsure. I did all the DarnUI stuff and DarnUI patches etc. Also, I should always launch FOSE from Mod Organizer if I want to play the game correct?

GUIDE The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition Modding Guide
SynthetikHD replied to SynthetikHD's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
While I guess that the Market Price and Zero Weight mods might not be necessary, i feel that the Market mod makes the game more fair (even though you are super rich most of the time), and the Zero Weight just makes managing the weight less annoying. But I guess I will add the Minigame mod to the wiki now. and understandable. i will keep looking around on forums. -
GUIDE The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition Modding Guide
SynthetikHD replied to SynthetikHD's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
Yes I included the part about deleting those files in the High Resolution Weapons part because I believe it is those textures that add the two. But thank you for reminding me because I forgot to include the part about deleting the bugged dice board. Do you happen to remember the files you have to delete for the bugged Nekker Nest textures? And I was unsure about including the Always Win Dice and Wrestling Mod because I wasn't sure what some people would think about the Market Price and Zero Weight mods as they might think that those are cheap or cheating, but I thought those two were at least necessary. But if you think it needs to be included I probably will put that one in as well. As for the Extreme Flora mod, I think it does work but I haven't done direct comparisons so maybe doesn't? I'm not sure if you have FCR2 installed, but you need the compatibility patch for the Flora mod to work with it. And for FOV, did you have problems with it or just didn't like the default settings? And I spent a long time modding TW1 a month ago, like 2 hours, played the game for an hour and uninstalled everything because I just didn't like the game haha. xD Does your game crash when you Alt+Tab btw? -

SynthetikHD replied to SynthetikHD's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
There is a Trilogy Pack on Steam right now, however I would probably wait until another sale because the Witcher 1 & 2 were under $4 last week during the Steam sale, so they usually go real cheap when there is one.
