There are a couple of mods on the nexus that simulate the results of ugrids 9 without the instability by making certain features always visible, I haven't tested them yet myself. Ddsopt creates all of the proper mipmaps so that they don't have to be created on the fly so it would definitely help for any graphics that are not properly mipmapped. Setting your ugrids to 7 (or at most 9) will cause a significant strain on your system that the extra ram and an ssd might help to relieve somewhat. You can be the guinea pig :D

This is just an update to an already existing mod in step. Make sure you are installing the right version, there are several versions that require other mods to be loaded as well.

So in the case of poor internet service it can be added as an alternate to the procedure in the troubleshooting guide. -

Its totally redundant if people are following SIG as they have already made a full backup of the vanilla skyrim directory, if you haven't made a vanilla backup just delete all files and directories under skyrim except data and in there delete all but the large bsa files and then run steam validate. Then delete your skyrim directory under mygames and finally make a zip backup as you should have done in the first place :D. That procedure is already laid out in the troubleshooting guide. I'm also about to explain what each default skyrim file does for those who really want to nerd out. -
lol, yeah its similar to a weekend in vegas without the credit card bills :D

My xml is almost done, I just need to alpha test it myself before I release it on the boards for a wider beta or possibly the nexus if it lines up with elbe's next release :D

For texture files hardcore version you want to use the unpacked hrdlc first than overwrite in order with USKP, dlc fix, dlc tweaks, and finally the optimized dlc if you are using that or run it through ddsopt if not.

Where did you find those instructions (or did you make them )!? Â I'd very much like to post those on our wiki, and of course I like to give credit where it's due.We have simpler instructions already included in SIG and Bash guides. -
For turn based RTS I have to give the crown to Galactic Civilization II with both expansions, nevertheless Civ IV and expansions is the gold standard.

Hmm need to do more testing there is definitely some weird behavior going on when using 256 active mods, internally 00 and 01 and FF are still being used for the default files, so although loaded the extra 3 mods are not correctly referenced by the games system, I have no idea how they are working at all. I'll need to design some mods for specific testing. Another fun fact if there are already 256 or more esp/esm in the data directory Skyrim Workshop will not download or update any mods, doesn't matter if they are active or not.

Discussion thread: Nitpick by shadeMe Wiki Link Enhances the ini loading ability of skyrim past 256 character limit and more importantly eliminates directory thrashing by the engine and related ctd's and performance issues.

Morrowind Armor for Skyrim (non-replacer)Â First Steam only mod that I can honestly recommend.

fixed your wall of text with a spoiler tag. The mod does not need to be merged, leveled lists is exactly where it should be and yes you still need the mod itself active, bash will automatically deactivate mods appropriately (it pops up a messagebox asking for permission) when building a patch.

SKYRIMLE Economics of Skyrim by Thomas Kaira

Yep, this was just rebuilt from the ground up, I'll definitely be checking this one out. -
Every single file under your skyrim folder is scanned repeatedly and often by the engine, there is a hard limit to the number of game files you can have before the engine chokes even if none of them are active, iirc its 448. As far as the 256 esp/esm limit, after much testing with files at begining and end of load order with dummies in the middle it appears that all 256 files were loaded and working correctly.

Open Cities Skyrim New version out updated for 1.6 with all the navmeshes fixed. This mod does a lot of world editing and the previous version I tested 4 months ago dropped my fps from 30 to 15. Listed for its general awesomeness and the need for lots of testing to see if the conflicts and fps problems are all gone, I don't doubt the author's testing or abilities one bit and he will fix any actual problem we find so I see this going in a pack at some point. Edited

Sounds of Nature Redux - Water and Fire The all in one version of the existing mods already in STEP. The previous mods have been removed from Nexus.

Sigh, just tested that and the behavior is a little disappointing but not unexpected. CTD before the main screen loads with 257 mods marked active, 256 works just fine. It could be that you are right and they are just overwriting slots 00, 01, and FF with no error. I'll see if I can get a log of loaded mods. That could also mean they have again changed how skyrim, update, and savegame are loaded as they aren't using the same hardcoded hex to load them they used to. I would guess they wrote a special function to load those three resources instead of just treating them as mods. Â That might increase stability a bit so it would be nice.

Skyrim Unplugged (by stoppingby4now)
frihyland replied to stoppingby4now's question in Other Utilities Support
Yeah its probably a stealth drm service that's doing it, it would be nice to track it down but not easy.
