  1. Just found a very odd setup with these mods. Apart from the name change on the Nexus site for Sounds of the Wasteland, it appears to be full of duplicated audio files. In Sounds of the Wasteland this is what is in the Sound\fx\amb\rivetcitycreak\b\ A similar thing is in Ambient Wasteland. In the folder sound\fx\amb\~regions\insects\wasteland\rustle and again in the folder sound\fx\amb\~regions\insects\wasteland\cricket I'm sure none of these need to be there unless I've completely missed something. Time for a purge of crud I think. EDIT:Unbelievably it appears this is supposed to be like that. I've learn't learnt something. Not how to spell apparently!
  2. The console gives me no more than I already have posted. I'll figure it out. Just a point though, it might be worth adding links to the Compatability Patches section from each mod's description. I have forgotten to install those Blackened patches but when I went to get them it makes it clear that they only work with the Hi-res versions. I had already installed the Standard version. If that was made clear at the time of installation I would've chosen the Hi-res just to ensure I could have that patch. I tend to install a section and then load the game to ensure nothings amiss. Being reminded to install the patches instead of the mod's plugins would be good. Not wanting to add to your work load, I can add them if you like.
  3. Got a problem with this mod being active at the moment. In the car park outside the RobCo factory there's a dead slave with a large RED exclamation block on top of him. So far I am still part way through the install, just finished the armour/clothing and body-type section. I did notice that there was a note with this mod about MMM and the possible need to use a Blackened plugin. I also see that MMM is listed as optional, thought that might be it, so I installed MMM and enabled the MMM specific Fallout 3 Redesigned plugin, still no resolution. As far as I can tell it isn't actually anything missing on the dead slave, you can still see his partially covered legs underneath. I'm assuming there is something on top of him, dead animal or an object of some kind. The only other information I can give you is the Dead slave has a code of: 000ae68f and I believe this from Fallout.esm. I see nothing in xEdit to indicate any issue with this area when Fallout 3 Redesigned is active. When it isn't active the slave is still there correctly dressed and there isn't anything on or near him. PS. I've made a couple of edits to the guide as I go. I was going to do so with MMM, regarding the first option: ingame menu or plugins to configure, but I've never used this before.
  4. Good, that's what I was thinking. I'm hoping to be able to have some definitive information one way or the other as to how/why MO won't work for some mods so workarounds can be as few as possible. I've already seen MO handle a few BAIN mods fairly well, so maybe it has matured?
  5. Not exactly what I was asking. I know the issues with MO, that's on my head. What I want to know is, is the list of MODS going to stay much the same?
  6. What would be the best way to enjoy this setup: Playout the alternate start as one of the preset types or continue on with the initial scenes and grow up in Vault 101? If the alternate start has some benefits, which preset would play the best in this environment?
  7. As sson as I finish Kelmych's C&PD install, I'm going to go for this and see where MO can and can't be used. Are there any major changes you plan on making to the mods you've suggested or can I assume this list will be pretty much it for a while?
  8. Didn't know about the ENB subpage suggestions, must have been before my time. Sure I'll help, though when it comes to ENBs I am as raw as they come. Keep in mind I was involved with the CivV scene for years and only came over to Skyrim and STEP a few months ago, didn't even know ENBs existed.
  9. Well the Bug Genie had two other closed issues #526 & #737. All I can advise now is for you to add your problem to the Bug Genie and Tannin will be able to provide you with more technical resolution. Did the rest of the error message say there was a dump file generated? If so I advise you to zip it up and attach it with your report.
  10. By this comment are you saying you have changed the skse.ini to have a setting like: [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=512 ScrapHeapSizeMB=256 but the memory block log only shows it something less? My skse.ini settings are similar and my logs never get anywhere near that figure either but my machine is as stable as it can get. I don't believe I have ever had a CTD or any other issues like ILS or the like. Are you chasing a figure or trying to get a stable system?
  11. Thanks Nozzer66. Strangely the first time I installed this one, your recommendation, I couldn't toggle it on/off. It looked like it wasn't on so I exited and stripped it out and tried the first one again. This time the black skies were fixed but there is an enormous FPS hit on my machine, from 60 down to 11 or 12 outside. Not good, and it had a soft focus look to it that I didn't see in the images on the site, so back to your suggestion. Now it is working fine. Still a hit to my FPS but nothing like the 75% reduction from the other. Also I can toggle it to check so something screwy was going on. I think I will go with this for a while unless something phenomenal comes along. Still, on my original post, there is a lack of good non-Skyrim ENB suggestions and guides around.
  12. As I have mentioned a few times around the traps, I'm currently installing the Clear & Present Danger guide in Fallout 3, excellent as it is, thanks Kelmych. Today I went looking for a suitable ENB to go with Realistic Interiors. I ended up with Brave New Wasteland and I am now trying to finetune it to work. I unfortunately have an issue where the blues in the sky are now black, sort of like that David Bowie video, Ashes to Ashes. So I came over here to scour the guides to see what it might be and it dawned on me, 99% of the instructions and posts are for Skyrim, practically nothing for Fallout3/NV or Oblivion. Does no-one that plays those games have an ENB, or at least issues with them? Couldn't there be some more, less specific, instruction about setting up these tools? (to be fair the guides are extremely good, it is easy to see the same ini setting being applied to all the ENBs regardless of the game.) When it comes to changing the launcher settings though you have to assume the same issues apply to the different engines. Any thoughts? Recommendations to fix the issue or choose another preset?
  13. Well I'm stumped at the moment. Re-reading your opening post has just removed the next options I was going to suggest. If, as you say, 1.2.15 worked before then perhaps it is time to submit a bug report and let Tannin have a look at it.
  14. Thanks, I completely missed your signature, sorry 'bout that. This is way outta-left-field, does all your other software communicate at top speed between their HDD's and your J: drive? ie. if you perform any file operation with read/write functions, to or from that drive, does it work as expected? It's the only thing that is different and I'm sort of hoping there may be a problem there. At least a problem that can be fixed that is.
  15. Thanks.
  16. Can list for us your system specs and software versions? Any AV packages or other software that might be trying to intercept those calls? Malware protection that sort of thing? Maybe other services that you have such as Game Companion or similar? GeForce Experience or an AMD equivalent? Something is grabbing those calls and stopping MO from continuing and thus throwing up the 'Not responding' message.
  17. This appears to be similar to a few reports that are now closed. The result of those was that the actual error is being generated not from MO, but from Windows, and in this specific case Skyrim (TESV.exe). One user found that the *.bsa that is mentioned in the log was actually misplaced on his system, it was in the Skyrim folder and not the Data folder. Could you verify the status of your Skyrim installation?
  18. Well since you use MO you are in luck, that manager allows us to set up the game a number of different ways and examine them. If you haven't already, create a new profile and install only the vanilla assets, no mods or any other addons. Run them game and compare the performance. If there is a marked improvement then you at least know it is most likely mod related. Make sure you follow the advice about ENBs that has already been mentioned. The thing with these sort of issues is that they are fixable, it just means a bit of detective work and eliminating anything that isn't the culprit.
  19. I may be overly cautious, but I would like to know why you have a Chrome window with 'DummyWindowForActivation' as its title? Nothing I can find makes me think that is benign.
  20. First thing I would do is try to eliminate options. Try using IE as your browser and initiate some downloads for MO to handle. That might tell us if there is something going on with Chromium and MO.
  21. I'm now into cleaning some of the mods in the Quest section and I just need a bit of clarification. LOOT 0.7 has this as a message for the Combat plugin: "It is recommended that you DO NOT load [this mod] in conjunction with FWE, as their alterations will conflict with each other and may cause issues." What's your take on that? I notice you say: The next to last Mantis Lab subquest is frustrating because of some limitations of the Fallout engine as it was designed for creatures with vanilla combat capabilities vs. the modified combat capabilities added by FWE and mods like MMM; it can take many tries before succeeding (alternatively a little creativeness with console commands like tcl can be used to provide some assistance). I'm assuming this is the mod that needs a bit of 'loving'? Just plough on regardless with the knowledge that some creatures may work oddly? Just looking further down the LOOT report, I see this also applies to the Medical, SkillBooks & XP plugins.
  22. The case for wanting to merge a mod or not isn't relevant. There are no restrictions on the number of mods in the left-hand pane and if a mod can be merged it usually is presented as an offer upon installation. As to where this list comes from, that's easy, it is the modlist.txt for the profile used. The way MO formulates it means it is in reverse order but it shows ALL installed mods and whether they are loaded or not and the main files are flagged with an asterix.
  23. As I'm going through the Clear & Present Danger guide I noticed something that I'm sure would've been caught before if it was wide-spread, so I can only conclude it is peculiar to me. I've just cleaned all the esms for Fallout 3 and I was just going to check the process got everything by running LOOT. As you are aware MO has a stripped down version of 0.5 and the latest stable version was 0.6. I also have the beta version, 0.7. I usually just go with 0.6 and have it set on my MO toolbar. So I clicked it, ran it and looked at the report. Imagine my surprise when the DLC were all tagged as dirty and in need of cleaning. Maybe I had them in the wrong place, perhaps for some reason they didn't update the files in the Data folder and were hiding in the 'overwrite' folder? Maybe? On a whim I ran the MO version, 0.5. That report showed all the esms as clean. WTH. Okay lets try 0.7. Same thing, all the DLC files are correctly shown as cleaned and need no attention. To test this further I ran the 0.6 version from outside MO and again it showed them as dirty. I then ran the 0.7 version and it too correctly showed them clean. What's the story here? Has no one ever seen this happen with LOOT v0.6? I'm finding hard to believe this is just me.
  24. No. As I said it was so long ago the last time I used the FWE triage system and this was just after a few minutes of running in the UI section of the guide. I had a sneaking suspicion that was what it was but I couldn't find it conclusively said. Everytime I read about that perk I was imagining that perk only made healing crippled limbs better, not available. Once again, thanks for your assistance. I've set my Skyrim game aside for the time being and am longing to get this set up correctly so I can experience it in all it's glory. So far so good.
  25. I tend to agree with you about the necessity of having a complete modlist for whichever STEP guide you are following. While the plugin load order will always be sorted because of the use of LOOT, or sometimes BOSS, is stipulated, there might still be errors if a mod that contains needed assets is not placed correctly.
