  1. It will most likely be too saturated hence look off for realvision. You should use the other less saturated version vurt has up, or use the 2.0 version since those will look nice with a much wider range of ENB´s. The incompatibility is mainly just related to the foilage looking a bit too colorful in most cases. Especially with high contrast ones like realvision. You might like it, you might not. The main reason vurt has put up the warning is because people have a tendency to ask him to make textures that look good if you use enb preset X which is just silly. If you go to my ENB page... skylight.. then I have made a less saturated version of the basic v.187 textures you can just use with realvision if you find the default ones too colorful. Hope that helps.
  2. Well it is not really a flaw as such.. just a design decision :P Game was never meant for dark and spooky caves, but super bright ambient lit caves that would allow people playing on TV´s with horrible gamma settings to also see something. One could go crazy and make an interior mod ala ELE to assign proper a proper template for only mines and caves, and one for houses. The tools are there.. but they are just really not easy to use hence why it would take forever to get done. There is a reason why ELFX and ELE have been 2 years or more in development. It is tedious and boring and frustrating work since there are so many issues with the tools. But oh well! I digress!
  3. I think he refers to the mesh transition on the top of the image... not the ice. This is texture seams, not mesh seams. You got two textures where they do not blend nicely with each other and stand out way too much. Like snow and rocks etc.
  4. Well you are right tech..... if only skyrim was based on cry engine, or unreal engine or anything but something that was woefully outdated for when it was released then the game would already be in full next gen glory now instead of us all having to wait for the next game. The only real consolation is the new wolfenstein game which shows what Bethesda is hopefully going to go with in the future... and it does look rather nice. Easily on par with most of the other engines. But again off topic >_> My main point earlier was that I remember TB being in the control panel for much longer then AO settings.... hence I guess it has been around for a while longer. But yeah TB is nice to use when you also use Vsync for the reasons listed. I forgot if there was a built in TB feature in skyrim... I believe we had some tech savy guy explain it all in full detail at some point a year or so ago. :S
  5. Well next up you can try to disable SDO which will also add quite a bit of stress on the system.
  6. ENBoost and TB do not touch the same things. TB is in relation to Vsync and how many frames are stored for a more smooth image transition. ENBoost deals with memory. As for the differences between AMD and Nvidia, and OpenGL and D3D... no idea hehe. But TB is just TB... as I understand it anyways, rather generic hardware function that have been around forever.
  7. Still on 331.65 and no issues with that one on my end. Like you I have not read any compelling reason to update.
  8. That is something better asked over at the enbdev forums... but I guess one can anticipate boris´s answer... "Do not use crappy 3rd party software with my stuff"... or something down those lines! :) However as I recall you can just force triple buffering via the driver control panel... no need for additional .dll stuff to do that.
  9. CoT has its own clouds for just about everything, there are a few where vanilla are still used and those would be overwritten. But unless you really know which you look for you might not see them. So this is not really a mod for CoT users. As for the whole CoT vs anything else debate...CoT only have "big" issues with sound mods..and all the major ones have patches. Same with Falskaar. Every other patch you would need is only if you want MORE weathers then the 500+ CoT already offer. In short the more diversity the more .esp slots you need. However it is really simple to use the merge plugin to create just one CoT weather patch to rule them all. So the choice of weather should never come down to .esp issues, but rather if you like the mood, textures etc. As to the "copy over the textures to CoT"... the main point is that it would be a MASSIVE and very tedious undertaking... we are talking about thousands of edits in tes5edit... that cannot just be scripted since various weathers have different clouds in different locations, and the script would have no way of knowing which. Another is that... if you do that then there is really not much left of CoT at all. Most use the weather patch which alter most of the colors, and if the clouds are gone as well then you have an effectively new weather mod. Hope that little rant clarify a few things hehe! :)
  10. I am going to assume that you use the highest quality of SMIM, SFO, and every other mesh improvement mod out there. Try to make an install with lower quality of SFO first (Less grass and perhaps try out the basic version instead of the full one.), then SMIM. As the amount of stuff the game needs to load goes down then the loading issues will go away.
  11. You most likely have TAA enabled in the ENB preset you are using... what you see is most likely ghosting which is a side effect of using that particular form of AA. You can verify by disabling it in enblocal.ini. If it is not because of that then.... hmmmm
  12. In most case you will see the benefit in FPS instantly. However some like the SSAO values need a reapply before they take effect, so in general it is best to always just reapply. A few of them have almost no performance impact... like the bloom value so that you can leave on highest settings. In general you can always safely adjust the quality parameters until you have the performance you require... a fact that many people seem to forget thinking that performance heavy presets are like that and cant be changed. It is not different from opening options and adjusting the video details quality settings. Before the days of the GUI it was more of a pain to adjust since you had to go out of the game and adjust ini files manually. That said then there are a few performance related values you cannot alter ingame since they are set at runtime! Under SSAO and Reflection find these variables SizeScaleSourceTexturesScale And set them to 0.65 (size) and 0.5 (source) respectively. This will give you the best quality/performance ratio. The values determine the size of the texture used to apply the reflections and SSAO, the higher the value is the heavier the cost, but also the more detailed and smooth the effects become.Edit: For reflection you can just put in 0.5 in both without much visual loss.. you could perhaps even go lower if you wanted. But diminishing returns and all that.
  13. No problem. Happy to help out! Another quick way to alter performance is to change anything that says "quality" in enbseries.ini. It is normally a value between -1 and 4 all depending, with higher numbers meaning less quality. Most effects look quite good using just medium settings, and only a few really need high. You can tweak those further. When you are done you just press the save bottom in the gui and then hit reapply and it will refresh the shaders with the new settings.
  14. I am at 1440p which provides enough pixels to not really have much aliasing. But SMAA is the most used method I would say. It also come with somewhat adjustable quality/performance. The other alternative is FXAA. They both work the same way by adding the name of the AA technique .dll to the enblocal proxy entries and then use it. The little bit of AA I require I get via the edge AA from ENB. Some do not like the blurring it does.. but I kinda do since it helps make trees look more full.
  15. Yeah 4k for shadow is just a bad idea... However the quality of the shadows still make the shadows nicer even with ENB on. I play with 1024 since well... I think the shadows look good enough for playing the game and I would rather want the extra performance. But glad to hear that you have a good playing experience now!
  16. First start with the grass density and draw distance. It is the most intensive parameter after shadows. iMinGrassSize in skyrim.ini and the fadedistance in skyrimprefs.ini all under Grass. In skyrimprefs.ini then try to set anything that have shadowmapresolution in the name to 1024 and then work from there. If that still produce stuttering then I will need the enbseries.ini file you are using and then I can come with a few suggestions based on that.
  17. Under miscellaneous of my preset (Skylight ENB) I provide two guides. Take the installation guide and then chapter two will help you set everything up properly for any ENB preset out there. Will also save me the trouble of asking for ini files and telling you how they should be setup! There are more indepth guides out there on how to do stuff, but I try to keep it at a "play the game" level of detail. If you want full technical details there are threads here on the forums that will provide all of that "fun" stuff. If you find anything unclear then just ask and I will try to help out!
  18. This might just be me.. but as I recall from some previous testing then actors once assigned some items will keep those items until they are forced to reload new ones. Which for many actors is like once a month when the cell is refreshed, or some quest says they should wear new gear. At least I have never been able to make an actor that had a set of items change it on a single load. For example I could never make the intro characters in the into wear cloaks if I did not start a new game with them being reloaded with new items. But I admit that this is not the area of skyrim I have spent the most time on troubleshooting, since as I recall I have only ever had naked characters if the meshes for the armor somehow had wrong shaders settings and did not render at all.
  19. Some locations are just beyond repair... no amount of FPS capping or vsync etc is going to help with it. If there are not any visible indication of what eats the performance (such as grass or forests etc.) then it is most likely one of two things. A: Some mesh have some issues with shadows which cause a massive slow down in FPS. B: something is rendered out of sight which cause the slowdown. It can be other things... but unless I was able to reproduce the same situation then it would be hard for me to diagnose. If it is shadow related then you can try to lower your shadow resolution in skyrimprefs.ini and see if you get a massive boost in performance in the same location.
  20. Yeah the inconsistency in FPS is most likely due to bad enblocal settings... you do not have the ability to run with 2k textures etc on a 1Gb card without having some stuttering issues etc. However the Official HDDLC should not be an issue. Try to use this under Memory in enblocal ExpandSystemMemoryX64=trueReduceSystemMemoryUsage=trueDisableDriverMemoryManager=falseDisablePreloadToVRAM=falseEnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=falseReservedMemorySizeMb=512VideoMemorySizeMb=1024EnableCompression=trueAutodetectVideoMemorySize=false If that provides no change then try to increase Videomemorysize to 2048 and try again. With 8Gb of RAM that should still be possible without any real issues. Ofc. all of this assumes you are running on a 64bit install of windows! If you do not then it will start to get really tricky. I forgot what specifically what realvision have enabled and disabled in its performance A option... but due to your description then the overall issue is more getting the memory issues in line rather then mess with rendering of things.
  21. I would suggest you try out a few to see what you like. Then after that you can come back and I will gladly help you tweak the performance of the preset as much as possible. With your system you still would be able to get a decent amount of visuals at 1080p... but it is cutting it close and something might have to be disabled entirely.
  22. Most of it is sound advice... the few in my opinion minor things are more or less just personal preference depending on system anyways. Nice little addition to the list of many many guides on graphics out there.
  23. Finished long ago.. but just have not been in the mood to create all the compare shots and create a nexus page for them yet... I somehow find all of that really really tedious and boring. Which all of my mods really show! :) Guess I will get around to it sometime next week or so... perhaps.
  24. Running those cards then you can get a highly detailed ENB preset running with very decent (40+) FPS at 1080p without much of an issue. Some ENB´s can still easily cripple them though but that can never entirely be avoided. As long as you do not force the cards to run at peak levels then they will mostly run cool and not consume super large amounts of power. But overall the AMD cards eat more power so you pay more for the card during its lifetime compared to more energy efficient models. Ofc. depending on how expensive power is where you live. But overall I would always suggest the get the more energy efficient card when you are up in that price range anyways... unless you do not expect the card to last for a long time.
  25. Ah the "the nvdagdagadsafagfa has stopped responding" or whatever its name is. Had that for ages way back when. Most of it got solved via driver updates as time progressed, but ultimately it was due to some bad VRAM. It is not always due to bad VRAM however and sometimes it is just weird. For example I could run the most graphics intensive game back then for hours with no issues, but running wow for 20 mins could produce it. You can find oh so many posts and blogs and what have ya about the topic, but the bottom line is that it is best to first try to different drivers, and if they all fail entirely then RMA the card just to be sure.
