How is STEP made easy for anyone?
torminater replied to DatsiK96's question in General Skyrim LE Support
SMCO and Optimizer textures are simple one-click tools, which neither offer the amount of customization nor the good end-result of compression vs. quality loss ergo optimization that DDSopt offers. With our custom created bat files the optimization of the vanilla textures isn't more complicated than using OT or SMCO anymore, so there's no reason to not use DDSopt on those ones. As for textures from mod ressources we have certain recommendations for DDSopting them, but we don't provide any info for OT or SMCO, since what they're actually doing when running the optimization isn't really documented anywhere. However SMCO has the option to optimize meshes, which comes at a risk of corrupting meshes with the issues that arise from that. -
I have never heard of those tweaks for Skyrim. If they make any difference on various settings for your game, please report back, but I would doubt it has any effect.

SKYRIMLE Civil War Overhaul (by Apollodown)
torminater replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Probably the quest would've involved at least a dozen painted cows ;-) -
I don't think anybody out there could do the math for that one. Just turn off bobbing or throttle it down, that's all the image stabilization you could achieve with all the math geeks together out there.

CTDs, Freezing, randomly, and anywhere.
torminater replied to DatsiK96's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I believe Neo had issues keeping SR and SRLE stable anyways, so yeah CTDs are sth you have to cope with. -
Freezes might as well be due to VRAM overflow. Reduce other texture pack sizes as well to get around that issue.

What about a torch bug lantern?
-
Yup, statmonster is right, although this mod will allow a remake of cloverfield in skyrim ;-)
-
Yup, that's pretty much the same thing...
-
As soon as STEP Extended would include a lighting mod configuration, then it'll be applicable to accept this mod into Extended.

Well awesome for roleplaying then... "Hey, I'm mister Superhero saving the poor and helpless, well screw you stupid merchant, just die a horrible and terrible death... hmm. reloading takes for ever! ... oh hello Mr. Merchant, I'ld like to trade with you, wow, you are my best friend, since I married your daughter, did you forget?"
-
Awesome!!!

@ Aiyen: Is there a walkthrough through the different values already or can you write sth like that into our ENB guide?
-
Awesome link SRB!Dunno how I could've missed that one ;-D

Even if you merge many of those esp files, it'll surely be a mess. Skyrim seems to have problems as you go over a certain amount of active esps (130ish I think). If you actually want to play Skyrim rather than only troubleshoot, cut down on your load order as much as possible, use only one mod for each game aspect you want to be altered. -> Combat & enemies -> Needs -> Survival -> Lighting -> Post-processing -> Stability -> Followers -> Mounts etc. If you then consider your load order as final for that profile/playthrough. You may start merging. Do it in small increments - you don't want to trash everything at that point and start all over.

Whiterun shimmering road/dirt texture.
torminater replied to SirBaz's question in General Skyrim LE Support
uGridsToLoad=3 is absolutely wrong. Revert to 5 asap if you want your save to last you longer than a couple of hours. The Cellbuffer tweak is wrong as well plus it is not of any use anymore since 1.9 patch. Delete this line or set it to 36 in your ini. Multi-Core tweaks have not proven to have any positive impact on the game's performance. Delete/Revert if you want to stay on the safe side. Your LOD tweaks won't help making the game look better. They won't help a lot with performance either. Try to stick to vanilla values. In general, if you want good performance with your rig, stick to 1024 .dds and 512 _n.dds texture sizes, see our DDSopt guide on the wiki for further information. I don't have that texture clipping issue. For the sake of testing. Backup your inis, delete them and let the Skyrim Launcher create new ones, then reload and see whether that fixes it. I cannot vouch at all for SMCO, and nobody here on STEP can. If reverting your inis doesn't help, you might need to reinstall Skyrim through Steam or use the unaltered bsa files from your Skyrim Vanilla backup. SMCO claims to optimize meshes, so maybe your flickering road textures stem from that utility changing the meshes improperly. ENB's Anti-freeze-patch is so long outdated you shouldn't use it at this time anymore. Skyrim Stutter fix and Skyrim Booster are not known to me, but you should try playing without them first and check for sure if they help with your setup. ENBoost, HiAlgoBoost and StableUGrids are the 3 stability/performance utilities that are popular around here. For your load order configuration, delete esps you don't want or need in your mod folder category, so they don't even show up in your load order. Skyrim seems to have a certain limit of the number of esps included in a load order. If you say dummy esps you mean esps that only extract the corresponding bsa archive, then yes, you may delete them, if you have told MO to unpack all bsa archives on mod installation. -
Rubber-banding on some doors
torminater replied to bridgeburner's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Weird pathing problems. I have no idea what's wrong with your skyrim. Have you checked in TESVEdit for mods that change sth in Saarthal like pathfinding? -
So are you currently happy with your performance?

Ulfric and Tullius have no bodies just heads
torminater replied to Quahogs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
There are mods changing the appearance of certain characters. Look for armor mods or NPC mods. Maybe even Civil War Overhaul or Requiem. -
Try Requiem. It makes the early game a lot more exhilarating and you feel like you're one poor guy thrown into the world with little to nothing to face the dangers awaiting him there :D I've not used Requiem with Skyrim Revisited (LE is not complete enough to bother for me right now). I did use it with STEP Core and Extended though. If you are trying out Requiem, get all the respective patches from azirok!

Can't Purchase House Decorations - Honeyside Enchant Lab
torminater replied to onem4nb4nd's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Have you looked with tesvedit at your mods? Maybe a Patch/Port went wrong. -
Scripts usually only trigger under certain circumstances. Some mods call regularily on Scripts (frostfall, wetncold). In General the Game gets LEss stable the more Scripts are called in at the Same Time ( Combat).
-
Sounds like a Sky ui or levelled List issue to me.

How to use Boss Userlist Manager
torminater replied to bridgeburner's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Use BUM as executable thorough mo. You Need it to create custom rules for mods NOT yet in the boss List.
