Is there a mod that... (Mod Detectives)
Shadriss replied to rootsrat's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
My turn! It's always seemed odd to me that the ONLY way to learn any given enchantment was by destroying some other piece of enchanted gear. I mean... if that's the only way to learn how to do it, how did the first pieces of enchanting gear even come into existence? So, I'm looking for something that allows the learning of enchantments by some other methods... like, say, a skill book or something. Any ideas out there on this one? No luck on my searching so far... -
It's not the CBBE mod... I run that as well and don't see this issue. I'd check more into the way the custom race files conflict (or don't) with Natural Eyes.
-
Actually, I ran into this same issue (repeatedly) a few times in recent weeks. A bit of research, and I found the culprit in my particular case. I'm not a betting man, but I will guess that you have Immersive Armors in your lineup, the 1.7 version to be specific. As it turns out, because it supports a few of the physics models available through the UNP body, there are some odd physics settings associated with this mod. The collisions get all messed up, so HAVOK goes completely berserk, hence your wild cart ride as the game tries to resolve all the things hitting each other... specifically you, Ulfric, Lokir, and Ralof in the cart. Now, you may not have that specific mod, but this is the kind of thing you need to look for - any mod that alters the physics of the actors. I've seen references that Realistic Ragdolls SHOULD fix this, but it did not in my case, and I ended up removing Immersive Armors and haven't had a problem since. It may not be your specific problem, but it's a place to start looking.

Bubi... the point is that you don't NEED it activated. As Smile pointed out, it's been made a part of the bashed patch, and so replaces it in your load order. No need to have it turned on at all.
-
Long shot, but perhaps a google search for a generic skin texture at a large resolution might be an idea. Get one big enough, cut out the pieces you need from it (so to speak), blend the edges so that they will mesh at the seams, and there you go. Far simpler said than done of course... I tried my hand at skinning a long time ago, and it never made any sense to me. Ask me to build a Quake3-Engine game level though, and I could help... :(

Appriciate the values. OOC - aside from Apachiihair (which is all I have in atm...), any recommendations for other mods for use with this? -
Should I trust WB's choice of mods to merge leveled lists from?
Shadriss replied to Clouddistrictcitizen's question in Wrye Bash Support
For OBIS - I've had this installed for a few weeks and, like you, had it included automatically in my Bashed Patch. I've seen no issues that would seem to be related to it so far. Hardly a definitive answer, I know, but the only one I know to give. For Immersive Patrols - I wasn't aware of any merchants being added by this mod. As for the Naked NPCs, this may be being caused be a different mod completely. If you have the aMidianBorn Content Add-on in your STEP Lineup (like all the cool kids do...), then it likely does not have the correct bash tags attached. There is a whole topic devoted to that particular issue, and I would direct you there for all the particulars and the solution as well. I'd link you to it, but A) I would hate for your Search Skills to atrophy, and B) I suck at posting links. :) If you DON'T have that installed, then you may have a whole new version of that problem, in which case may Bethesda Have Mercy On Your Soul. TLDR: With the exception of the Content Add-on from aMidianBorn, WB hasn't steered me wrong so far. -
Your work on this front is much appriciated... don't let us nitpicking get ya down. We only do it because, like you, we want the best possible results. :) Having done a lot of modding (in a completely different game engine a long time ago in forums far, far away...), I know how much work even the simplest of things can be. I'm seeing good work here, and hope to see outstanding work.

Hey Red - can you either A) Point me at the 'cannon' height values for the races or B) Provide a list of what you are using? I'm sure the defaults are all well and good, but... -
Looking very nice, Tech. Looking forward to seeing this finished. I do wonder though... and I understand you are treading water in the realm of new skills here... if you can lighten up the lower shadow on the upper set of her 'six-pack'? It's quite deeper than the others, and because the shadow between those two muscles is so light, it gives that area the look of a plate almost. I think I mentioned this before earlier in the discussion, but since we (you) are working on a comprehensive fix anyway... If not, no biggie. Not like I have the women run around in their underwear anyhow.

Tried to use this earlier today, but it never showed up in SUM... am I missing something really simple to make it show up? AV and DSR are showing up without anything special, so I thought this would too... but... EDIT: SO yeah... fixed. Man, that whole JAVA 8 thing threw me for a loop. Why on earth would you tell Java to update, and it gives you a new version of 7 instead of even telling you that 8 exists? Oracle, you have failed me. TLDR; it's fixed, and I'm evaluating this now. -
MO can't handle a couple of STEP mods.
Shadriss replied to Halde's question in Mod Organizer Support
Not a problem with MO, per se. I get this every so often as well... the problem is actually the downloaded file. Just redownload and try it again - it usually works the second time around. Given that I've installed (and reinstalled... and reinstalled... and reinstalled...) STEP, I can tell you for certain that the mods you mention install through MO perfectly fine. -
Stunning Statues of Skyrim (by AnTiWoMaAgNoT)
Shadriss replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Well, after my comments on the Skyforge, I guess it's time to put up or shut up - d/l'ing as I type to take a look. :) -
OK, but don't you have to keep a bag of peas on your mod load order or something for like a week afterwards? Seriously though... life w/o CoT is that much better? I know Supreme Storms has a non-CoT... I'll have to look at ESS and one or two others. As long as I can keep most of my current weathers, I'll prob do this myself.
-
Don't misunderstand me, Neo... I'm not saying they aren't decent. I just find it odd that, of all things, it's been statues that have been dominating the hot files recently. When the all in one comes out, I'll take a closer look, but on a single mod level, I personally can't see looking at statues just yet.
-
Been a lot of cloud retexes coming out lately... and I don't seem to recall there being one specifically called out for STEP itself. Any way we could possibly get these all into a single thread for comparison purposes? I await the inevitable "Well, why don't YOU do that?" post...
-
I have to admit my first reaction when I saw this topic was...Really? As mentioned, this author has been hitting one statue after another. I'm not going to say that there isn't room for improvement on the vanilla versions. What I AM going to say is that, in the realm of things that need improving, this is WAY down at the bottom of my list, as I honestly don't really look that close at them. Many of them appear only once in the entire game, and I quite simply don't care enough about them to eat up (potentially) more memory on them when there are other items that are broader in scope and have a BIT more of an impact. Granted, the same can be said of some of the other things STEP has hit... but I just can't see doing friggin' statues.
-
Plan on testing when I move to my next playthrough - I'm currently trying to get everything I have playing nice at some level, and there's still a few holdouts.
-
That would explain the why... Was curious why an ENB install would cause this. That said, all I should do is put it just before RS than? My only question is what fixes, exactly, I'm missing by putting it up there. Since I honestly don't know what it's patching, I'm not sure what's changing, I guess you could say. Maybe if I just put those two in last, just before the Bashed/FNIS/Dual Sheath section...
-
...AAAAAAAAnd solved. Guy on the Nexus figured out this problem. It's so out there, I would never have considered this one. Turns out that Vividian ENB does some stuffs with the nifs for children, which were overwriting the RS Children changes. I moved the ENB files WAY up in the load order (as in, before Distant Decal Fix) and had an instant fix. Consider this an FYI, and a full restoral of my endorsement for Step Extended for this mod. :)
-
I'm considering doing the same thing, Red, but at this point, what would I really replace it with? I can't imagine any other weather mod doesn't have similar problems with compatibility, and at least COT HAS patches... I've yet to see any for any other weather mod. I guess that COULD mean that they don't need it, but hey... So far, the Clouds have matched my weather patterns, though Nearox could be right in that the style difference is too subtle for me to notice. I can tell you I much prefer the look on the clear days for certain though.

SKYRIMLE Sometimes Pick Up Books // RTR - Real Time Reading
Shadriss replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Been using Sometimes for several weeks now, myself, and I think I prefer it's simplicity to the supposed added immersion of the other... these books are not exactly Barnes and Nobles bestsellers here, and a couple of hours to read through a dozen or so pages is way to excessive. Without some kind of way to configure that, it's a no-fly on my end. I do like the idea of having at least SOMETHING like this in STEP... as mentioned, the notion that, in the middle of a dungeon filled with draugr/vampires/bandits/evil nasty wildlife, I would stop, kick back and read a book just didn't fly with me... Plus, it just plain takes so LONG to pick up a bunch of them when you have to wait for the book open/close animations for each. And. Every. One. Of. Them. -
So the theory goes - but I threw out all my ELFX patches with it. :) I'll see what the jury thinks, then maybe go back for the next playthrough.
-
Only because it was a possible suspect in the Naked NPC issue... which has since been proven otherwise. In a completely unrelated neuron firing, I should probably get a real avatar, and not that shadowy male outline... it's actually creeping me out a little...
-
This would get updated just days after I switched over to Relighting Skyrim because of compatibility issues....
