SKYRIMLE True Elk Of Skyrim (by Impulseman45)
Shadriss replied to kryptopyr's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Perhaps not, Oq - but in that case, perhaps they shouldn't CALL them Elk if that's not what they are supposed to be. Even the mod author acknowledged that, likely, Beth was trying for a distant ancestor of the Elk (can't remember what it was) to kind of go with the mammoth, as you mentioned. If it's a mammoth, you don't call it an elephant. If it's a [insert name here], you don't call it an elk. From that standpoint, I more with the previous posters atm, and am liking the screens anyhow. It's in my mod order, and I'm waiting to run across them before passing final judgement, however. -
Started running this, and as mentioned, no real issues. Includes it's own EtaC patch, and so long as you don't have anything that changes the inn interiors, I haven't seen anything that's an issue so far.

CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Shadriss replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Just found that. Even then, the new formula still leaves me with a seemingly high value - Per my nVidia Settings, I have 12006MB Total availiable Graphics Memory. Minus the 170 for a WIN7 install still leaves 11836MB... which still seems a bit high. More realistic than the previous, no doubt, but still high. Not even sure if this is what is causing my problems at the moment, honestly... I'm getting random CTDs on my new build with no major variations from my previous build. I did track down the memory block size problem, and that's solved. Based on the Memory Log, I'm not getting anywhere near the 51@MB on Block1, so I'm kinda poking around the ENBLocal settings to see if something there is hinky. I've changed the reserved setting from 512 down to 128... combined with this setting jumping from 4096 up to whatever this new value will be, hoping it corrects the issue.Ed Edit Part the Second: Checking via Windows only reports 7910. Apparently, WIN and nVidia can't reach the same conclusions. I'm gonna err on the conservative side and use the WIN setting for now, unless I hear otherwise from you wonderful expert-like peeps. SHould make the value 7740? -

So, just to beat this horse completely and thourally into the ground - w/ GTX980 4GB card and 16GB System RAM, I get: [VRAM] + {SRAM] - 2048 = videoMemorySizeMB 4096 + 16384 - 2048 = VideoMemorySizeMB 18432 = VideoMemorySizeMB Does that not seem a tad bit... high? Is there any realistic cap to this equation? Just imagine someone with 4-sticks of 8GB RAM for those numbers... Gonna try it anyhow and see, but... yeah. -
MO Failing to Download through Nexus
Shadriss replied to Shadriss's question in Mod Organizer Support
This did it. Which is odd, since it was already pointed at that file. *shrug* Regardless of why pointing a reference to what it was already referencing makes it suddenly work, it does, and all is well in the universe... at least until my mod load is up again, and then there's this place called Skyrim that may have a few issues... My thanks, Grant. -
MO Failing to Download through Nexus
Shadriss replied to Shadriss's question in Mod Organizer Support
All previously attempted with no changes. Appriciate the answer, even if no result thus far. -
Quick Version - I got a new SSD recently and am moving my Skyrim installation to it. This included a complete reinstall of all tools, including MO. I am using the most recent non-beta version. After installation of MO, I am unable to download any mods via the Nexus "Download with Manager" links - the all go to an error page as such: "Firefox can't find the file at nxm://Skyrim/mods/31982/files/1000013473." Wasn't doing this last night prior to my reinstallation. Verified that MO is installed IAW the guide instructions, and have changed the NMM version number in the workarounds tab to match the current version. File associations in FF checked and verified. Honestly, not sure this is MO given the error, but as nobody has reported similar issues today (either here on on Nexus forums), I can only assume the problem must be something blindingly obvious, and I'm somehow missing it. Note that manual downloads still work. I was able to get the uGrids to Load via this method for initial setup, but am VERY against the idea of doing the entire install this way. Ideas?

SKYRIMLE Real Shelter - Full Release (by Robinsage)
Shadriss replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
According to the main description page, it should be fine with ETAC 13. I was looking for that as well, and the way his compatibility section reads, all it should need is the ETAC patch, as before. The worst that happens right now is that some of the new IM Set merged items may not be covered yet, but I'm sure that's just a matter of time. -
SKYRIMLE Animallica - Skyrim Wildlife Overhaul (by sliceandkill)
Shadriss replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Only if they don't pass out first. Some phobias can cause that, and I've heard plenty of arachnophobes have that reaction. Pixels or not, the image is more than they can deal with. But to the actual point - is this something to really give a good look at? I'm pretty good with just AV, as someone else mentioned earlier, so I'm not sure this would really add anything for me, unless there's some hook to it somewhere I've missed. -
I think MOST of Isoku's work is in STEP somewhere... and if it isn't, we usually put them in our personal lists anyhow. I mean... it's ISOKU! He does for immersion what CaBaL does for Armor Textures.

"...you know what to do." Die slowly, cut into a thousand pieces? Just like all the OTHER bandits dumb enough to fight the Dovahkin? Very much in the flavor of other notes in the game - me likey. -

There's a bug with water and Nvidia cards? Hadn't heard about this... now I have some searching to do. Bah... -
Bashed Patch does more harm than good?
Shadriss replied to beej175560's question in Wrye Bash Support
If I were a Mexican Cliff Diver, quite possibly, yes. But you miss the point. Here, we have a host of people who have, though many hours of testing, trial and error, and a LOT more free time than I'll ever have, put together a guide aimed as much at the newer folks to modding as at those who have been around the block a few times. They have, through their processes, come to the conclusion I previously posted. You have said that this advice (and yes, I acknowledge that's what it is) is unsound, and should not be followed by the majority of modders but have provided no real reason for this statement other than an implicit, "because I said so". Granted, that is almost the same thing that the STEP team has done, but given that their recommendation comes by way of general discussion among multiple people, I'm more inclined to believe them than a lone voice. I asked you to elaborate, not get snarky. If you have reasons, please give them. If you don't, I ask you keep the comment to yourself. -
The small video is impressive, but just reading through the description page, it has one killer - it's not compatible with DSR just yet. When it is, I'll look harder at it. Until then... *shrug*

Bashed Patch does more harm than good?
Shadriss replied to beej175560's question in Wrye Bash Support
I understand where you are coming from Fire, but since the STEP Detailed Instructions specifically say to do that, why would you act surprised when people following the STEP Guide, as the OP is, do so? Your wish to assist is a great thing, but in light of these now conflicting instructions, perhaps a bit more information on why you hold that position is required, since the people who wrote the other set of instructions appear to disagree with you at some level? -
Water not reflecting landscape properly?
Shadriss replied to Clouddistrictcitizen's question in General Skyrim LE Support
The spaces are immaterial. It should work correctly both ways, based on testing I've done at my end, anyhow. As to the actual issue... uhm... Skyrim! Yeah! That should explain everything! EDIT: After thinking about it a little longer, there is no issue with the mountains anyhow. Yes, they're a long way off, but the angles are correct to have them reflecting. That doesn't look out of place at all. The trees on the other hand... I wonder if, because they are heavily LOD dependent, that there is some little flag somewhere that isn't triggering them for proper reflection? Probably way off base, but it's a thought, anyhow. -

Not the only time that happens. The Boethiah Daedric quest location has something similar - it simply isn't there unless the quest is active apart from a very small cave interior area. After the quest is up, it's a bit more extensive. -
Seeing as I just ran into this and solved it, let me offer a few things to look at: 1) Monitor Calibration. If you haven't done it, do it. I use a 60" TV as my monitor, and until recently I was running it under a fairly dark preset, instead of the PC one. In retrospect, this was not bright. :) If you have something like that to work with, use it as a basis, and then calibrate your gamma as needed. This by itself can help a lot. 2) ELFX. I like it... but when you combine it's effects with ENB, you get darkness. Lots and lots of darkness. If you're into extreme realism (and by your post, not so much), this is fine, but otherwise, if you run ELFX, you should most likely drop it. This will lighten up the game spaces quite a bit... especially if you are also running the ELE mod included with Vividian, which ALSO alters the imagespace modifiers. SO yeah, I like ELFX, but it's not a good idea with ANY ENB. 3) Finally, and really this maybe should have been the first thing - turn your "Brightness" setting in the GAME'S Options menu ALL THE WAY UP... or at least, most of the way up, in accordance with Magna's instructions on the mod description page. I honestly missed this myself until a friend pointed it out. Easy miss if you didn't catch it. Should at least improve the situation with those three, if not outright solve it. Best of luck! EDIT: I'd use Nearox's suggestion as a final step, if needed. It DOES brighten it up some, but it wasn't something I needed to do to get the right flavor of image. Personal choice, of course, but again - probably a last item if the other three don't quite get you there.

Good to hear. At least here, there is SOME level of knowledge you can assume. You know... like power is required to post online.

There's actually more to that story, Guner. There was an episode Just-Like-That at AOL about ten years ago... a friend of mine as well, and an almost identical call. The only difference is what happened AFTER your punchline. And yes... he did get fired for this, but he was looking to quit anyhow... Friend - Ma'am, do you still have the boxes your computer came in? Woman - Yes. Friend - Good. Now what I want you to do it put your computer back in the boxes. Then, take them back to the store where you bought it and tell them you are returning the computer because you are too stupid to own one.
-
You can't cure stupidity, Fire. For clarity, let me give you definitions of ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is a simple case of no information. This can be cured. Stupidity is willful ignorance. Chronic Ignorance, if you will. Most of the things you listed are simple cases of one or the other. If they bothered to check their subjects, they'd find out the real answers and stop leaving us and other end users with bad info. That hasn't changed in the last twenty years at least, so yeah - help where their own ignorance will allow it, and ignore those with chronic ignorance.

I'll test that out - I remember the first time I walked into Whiterun after installing this they were everywhere. I run a mod that adds a lot of stuffs to Whiterun, including a large number of trees, and the Godrays were just amazing. Maybe I just lucked out the first day in. EDIT: They're there. Just been real unlucky in weathers and placements, I guess. Now to figure out what happened to the RS Color Patch, though from the look of it ingame, I'm not sure it's really needed anyway... colors look right to me.

So 2 and 3 from your above list were both in SKyrim, hence the two versions you can get hold of normally. Interesting... *sigh* BOOK HUNT! -

Curious, Daniel: With the Volumes 1 through 12, I'm just wondering if the "Real Barenziah" from the base game is a condensed version of that one or not? I mean... same title and everything. Never finished Daggerfall (I was 12 when it came out, and while I loved playing it I had NO IDEA there was even a storyline), so I'm not really sure.
