GUIDE W3R: The Wild Hunt Revisited (Witcher 3)
Daagar replied to Neovalen's topic in Unsupported Game Guides
Thanks for this guide (as with any Neovalen-created guide)! I was a little apprehensive about it because of the inclusion of Ghost Mode (I'm a sap that isn't out to play on hardest difficulties), but it is such a well made mod that it can be customized to any difficulty you want. While it is sure to appease the hard-core crowd, more casual players shouldn't be scared of this guide - all the major gameplay mods (Ghost Mode, Friendly Meditation, Preparations) can have any setting tweaked or completely disabled in-game, so this guide can be used as-is even if you don't want some of the changes. Glorious. Obviously, kudos to Wasteland Ghost for such awesome mods too. -
SRLE Extended: Legacy of The Dragonborn
Daagar replied to Darth_mathias's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
An amazing newbie question: If I'm reading the CR subguide correctly, I can "customize" which mods are installed and easily remove created CR patches by following one of the two sections (either having the esp, or not having the esp)? For example, if I'm a big baby and want to remove 'You Hunger' I can simply install it per the guide, then disable it and remove it from the CR patch with the "you have the esp downloaded" instructions? Yes, I realize this is exactly what the guide says so I guess I'm just asking for confirmation that it is just this easy... -
Pretty positive I ran into this same issue in Win10.

SKYRIMLE Guide to run SRLE + REGS + ENB on Medium Systems
Daagar replied to Nearox's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
A bit early to be asking this I realize, but will this guide eventually be updated to incorporate your newer SRLE Explorer's Edition guide (assuming changes are necessary)? I suspect you might be off on a newer video card at this point, but for those of us still plugging away at 2GB VRAM, this guide is invaluable! -

Ah, but see, this is what makes Legacy so cool. It _is_ a museum! I can certainly see why it would be a taste thing. I get a kick out of the whole relic-hunter alternate start. Very Indiana Jones/Librarian/Warehouse 13-ish. In fact, when I first installed it to play around I'm pretty positive I named my guy Pete "Indiana" Flynn or somesuch. -
You are correct, -lodgen is the correct flag to use rather than -edit to avoid having to rename the executable - however, still very crashy.
-
For the moment, or at least without some additional tweaking that I'm unaware of, the suggestion of using TES5EDIT as 'FO3LODGen' doesn't work - lots of stack traces when attempting this (it was also necessary to rename TES5EDIT.exe as FO3LODGen.exe per the docs, instead of calling it with -fo3 -edit via MO). I did not do anything to attempt debugging this so the solution might be blindingly obvious, I simply grabbed the standalone FO3LODGen and carried on.
-
Ah - mostly difficulty (which for me translates directly to how long it takes to play - I can skip adding various quest mods if I want to stick with the main quest storyline). I don't want to turn it into a visual novel, but neither do I want to spend limited playtime re-attempting areas infinitely because I've installed something that sets what used to be a single moderate difficultly spawn into a hive of overpowered boss creatures that only Dark Souls players can survive :) EDIT - Reading through the guide again, it sounds like if I merely avoid A World of Pain and MMM (both optional anyway), I'm well on my way to keeping it "vanilla" as far as difficulty goes.
-
I realize part of the goal of heavily modding FO3 is for increased challenge/spawns/hardcore awesomeness. However, I'm also interested in actually making it through the game in my lifetime so I can move on to NV and presumably FO4. Does anyone have suggestions on how to tweak the config of C&PD to keep things at a sane level, without tipping over completely to baby's first RPG? I realize I could skip over things like MMM and FWE completely, but they seem to add things beyond just difficultly that makes them worthwhile to have - even if I ultimately end up disabling a huge chunk.

I agree with this - I've held off on doing anything with Skyrim waiting on this final update of Legacy, because it was the 'centerpiece' mod. Very nice to hear that it is behaving well with REGS (I tried with earlier versions and had no apparent issues then either, but I didn't go very far as I wanted this 'safe to update' version...) -
D'oh, sorry about that. Lots of threads around and I didn't see that before asking. Much thanks for the detailed reply!

Adonis - I know your wiki clearly states WIP, but just how far is it from working? I was hoping to step (hah) through it and start cobbling something together, but was curious what the highly fragile parts are at this time. I'm personally going for more of the texture/character/ui stuff (you have nice screenshots!), and less concerned about perk/gameplay/mechanic overhauls.

So - on a whim I tried out a couple of settings. I enabled "enableCompression" in enblocal.ini, and I set "Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames" to 1, and 'Single Display Performance Mode' in my nVidia control panel. Texture thrashing has abated almost completely. Note that this does nothing for FPS, but I'm fine with a smooth 30fps. I can now walk out of Dragonsreach and look across JK's Whiterun with only a bearable amount of chunking as the textures first load in, and then smooth sailing running around the city after that. -

Whiterun Outskirts are included - there is a post at nexus confirming. I don't mind the FPS drop from JK's stuff so much - I seem to get 27-33fps on my system, which is fine. The big issue I have is waiting for it to load in the textures for the first time, though I think this is a matter of limited vram (2GB) and texture thrashing moreso than JK's mods. Once textures are loaded, it is smooth even if somewhat low fps. And then I turn around... aiiieeee. -

That's awesome, but it makes me cringe a bit at the thought of ever upgrading any of the mods buried within and having to re-do the whole thing. -
How to get LOOT load order for posting in the forums?
Daagar replied to whitewolf87's question in Other Utilities Support
I haven't used it myself, so I can't give any details, but I believe the site https://modwat.ch is the quickest and cleanest way to post a load order. A small helper help will upload all the details to the site for you, and then you merely provide folks a link. Keeps the forums clean, too :) -
New SSD after Skyrim installation
Daagar replied to tschilpi's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It does. I was a bit surprised here as well, as I assumed it would only help load times. But there seems to be enough disk activity while wandering around the cities that there is a marked improvement. -
No Bashed Patch data in MO overwrite folder
Daagar replied to FreeMortal's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Some of the wiki pages are out of date, and still state that you must manually copy any new bashed patch to the created mod - this threw me off too. MO likely added this feature more recently than most of the wiki pages were written :) -
New SSD after Skyrim installation
Daagar replied to tschilpi's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Using Steam Mover (or doing the equivalent from the commandline) works just fine - I just did this myself, moving both Skyrim + the MO 'mods' folder over to an SSD from an original HDD install. This also gives me the benefit of keeping the MO 'downloads' folder on the original HDD, and I can easily move back any unused mods to the HDD to keep space usage on the SSD in check. Running from an SSD was a night and day difference for me - while FPS obviously won't change, the difference in speed when entering new areas or 'turning around' is game changing. -

Nah, just makes it more confusing because there are so many worthwhile options. I like REGS because someone is clearly stating "DO THIS" - I don't have to choose :) Same reason I love STEP and SR:LE - groups of folks have helpfully found magic combos. Great work with the JK stuff though, teabag. Choices are good. I think. -
SKYRIMLE Guide to run SRLE + REGS + ENB on Medium Systems
Daagar replied to Nearox's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
This is a great guide - I did an install of SRLE back in March, and greatly overestimated the power of my system (mostly due to only having a 2GB video card). I ended up with a functional, but mostly unplayable mess. While I'm going with STEPS Extended + REGS for the moment, when I get up the nerve (and free time?) to dive into SRLE again this will be a critical component of doing so. -

Is it really that Dawn is recommended over JK Riften, or the guide was simply completed before JK Riften was stable or able to be merged/fixed/whatever? Not trying to be snarky - I'm just looking to add REGS myself starting now, and the picture is getting a tad murky with the sudden massive changes around JK/Dawn/ETaC activity. However, strongly thinking I'm going with REGS simply as written because A) it'll work and B) all the hard work has been done for me (thanks CJ!). -
A note probably needs to be added to the install guide to download the XPMS 1-93a version, and not the new "Groovtama's XPMS Extended" version.
-
I know you said to use your conflict resolution patch as a double-check, but I cheated and used it right out of the gate. I did a full top-down install of everything per the guide as of March 21st, with no checks in-between, and lo-and-behold, everything works slick as can be (based on really rough testing). With a mere GTX660 2GB card, I seem to be getting a solid 30fps in Solitude with Vividian enabled (minus DoF). That's just stellar, considering all the mods installed. Point being - thank you very much for sharing your .esp. Huge huge huge help.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Daagar replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
So how badly does the new texture DLC wreck all the hand-picked texture packs? :) Not as in 'overwrite', but as in 'ohcrapnowwe'vegottocompareeverytextureagain'
