No, that "sort" button is a built-in LOOT function, and is not recommended to be used because it's entirely possible to be outdated as opposed to downloading and installing the latest LOOT yourself. The built-in LOOT would only get updated whenever MO is updated and the two programs updates do not coincide.

Edit: do not know why I seem to not be able to edit my first post, but anywho, I realized I made an error in that MO2 does not do the potential mod order problem, yet, due to the fact that it currently does not support the MO1 ability for mod conflict to my knowledge anyway. But I can for some reason edit this post, lol. w/e

What "sort" button are you referring to? The only left pane mod "sort" function in MO (1 and 2) that I know of is a Potential "fix" for what MO concedes as mod conflicts. The user would be made aware of this instance by means of a red triangle that looks like a traffic yield sign. If you click on this triangle it will state "Potential mod order problem" and a fix button next to it. Is this what you are referring to?

MO 2 and profile save games
CovertSlinky replied to CovertSlinky's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Thanks for the response GSDFan. And, yeah I knew it was an old post, and that MO 2 has made a lot of strides since then, which is also why I finally am moving to it for not just for SSE or FO4, but also oldrim. Anywho, so I am guessing from your edit, that you are in the same boat as me, and that local saves are still an issue? Can anyone else please confirm? -
As opposed to necro'ing an old thread, I link it for it's relevance to my question. Question being, does MO 2 still have an issue with storing profile specific save games? GSDFan stated in post #4 of that linked thread about how MO 2 has an issue with it and only uses saves from the "my games" folder even if use local save games option is checked. I just recently decided to make the switch to MO 2 after using wrye bash for SSE and the awful nmm for FO4. I am having this issue, so just wondering if it is still a MO 2 bug or if I have something screwed up somewhere?

So far this morning, I am good to go. But what fixed it, is something you said mentioning permissions. So, I have copied my Mod Organizer folder and the entire contents of my Skyrim folder, over from a few different OS installation/re-installations, I thought maybe my permissions have gotten screwed up at some point in between. Sure enough I had several unknown permissions, plus it wasn't giving my current account ownership of most of the files and folders within. It had an unknown account listed as ownership. Any who, I corrected this for not just the Mod Organizer folder, but the entire Skyrim folder as well. I just made sure, where applicable, I had ownership, and then removed all old account permissions. If any file or folder had TrustedInstaller or another important windows account listed as owner, i left it alone. So, I think I can turn the page on this one, thanks.

Bashed Patch Deactivates ALL M.O. mods
CovertSlinky replied to GamerPoets's question in Wrye Bash Support
No problem, glad I could help. No, this wasn't his issue. What Microsoft is saying is that, there was a bug not allowing Mod Organizer to load any activated plugins into Skyrim. So basically, you were being forced to play vanilla Skyrim. GamerPoets was describing a problem that can occur at times where after rebuilding the Bashed Patch, all plugins you had activated, are then deactivated. Which is annoying, because you have to reactivate them, which is simple enough. But then you have to figure out which plugins got merged into the bashed patch and leave them unchecked. -
Thanks for the input. I will play around with your ideas and post back the result.
-
Ok, not really an issue as more of an annoyance. I tried searching for a solution to this several times, but come up with results that do not apply, mostly due to unsure how to word it right for a search. So, when ever I turn on my PC from a shutdown or if it is restarted, I then open up Mod Organizer. If I look at the Archives tab on the right hand side. Depending on which profile I have open, there is always a few bsas no longer checked, so I have to re-enable them. Never fails, constantly having to make sure all bsas are activated. Always the same ones. On one profile it affects, The STEP Vanilla and DLC optimized textures standard.bsa and also the modern brawl bugs fix.bsa. The on another profile it affects the Unofficial High Resolution Patch bsa and the Better Weapon Swings bsa. I am using Mod Organizer 1.3.11.

Bashed Patch Deactivates ALL M.O. mods
CovertSlinky replied to GamerPoets's question in Wrye Bash Support
I have experienced this myself in the past, and reinstalling (or well re-extracting really, cause we mostly use the standalone) had magically fixed it for me. I have a link to a post where DoubleYou gives an answer saying the same thing, but adds that bad plugins can be cause. Also says reverting to default settings can be a solution as well. Hope this helps you, and look forward to viewing your new vids once completed! -
Yes, you should be activating every mod after you install it. It will be the only way any plugins or any bsa's show up in their respective tabs on the right-hand pane of MO.

bug STEP v2.10.0 Official Bug Reports
CovertSlinky replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
Yeah, it is not present for me with my current setup. I use an HDMI to DisplayPort up-converter. I have the 3DClub CAC-1070. Because I use an R9-290 which only supports HDMI 1.4 and which can not support 4k@60Hz. But it supports DisplayPort 1.2 which can utilize 4k@60Hz. I also do not use a normal monitor for gaming, I play via my living room 55 inch flat screen, which does not have an input for DisplayPort. So, either, Pixel Format doesn't appear for DisplayPort input. Or, because I have to have a custom resolution created in order to get 4k@60Hz in 8-bit Color Depth, which is the max supported for this HDMI-DisplayPort hook up, It's a limitation with converter itself. So, if now you are wondering how I know Pixel Format still exists. All I have to do is disconnect my converter and then plug in the HDMI cable only, HDMI-HDMI. Pixel Format reappears. -

bug STEP v2.10.0 Official Bug Reports
CovertSlinky replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Guide
Yeah the solutions are sound, but the means to the solution in that article is outdated for AMD anyway. But, although you pointed out the lack of options because of radeon settings removal. The options have thus been moved to the Display tab of the driver software. As seen in the attached pictures, currently have 17.8.2 version. Also the AMD color options that used to be found in the old Catalyst software, is now back, just select the "Color" option is the upper right hand of the display tab, but not "Desktop Color" as that will open windows color calibration crap. Or ok, somehow I have no way to attach anything. I have done it a long time ago. But whatever, pretty sure I described it enough. -
Skyrim Creation Club Beta, Survival Mode
CovertSlinky replied to CovertSlinky's topic in Step Banter Inn
I appreciate your efforts to enlighten me. But I still see no proof of this being a paid for mod. And two different prices are being thrown around. Is $8 or $15? I logged back into the Creation Club to see if I missed a detail. I did not. However, it states "100% OFF", so this could lead others to believe it has a price tag waiting to be revealed. That is plausible, but still holds no proof of what that price could/would be. I guess we will have to wait and see. But if it can get confirmed that Chesko is in someway (I would prefer he be lead man on it) behind this, which I do hold my doubts, I might find myself paying for it. But regardless of how I feel about Chesko as a modder, in this circumstance he would not be a modder of this product, but a developer. And as with any product I buy, I would evaluate in my own opinion if it is worth the price tag, whatever that may or may not be. Edit: After further reading, I do see where the two different prices come from. It is believed it will be a 800 credit price at some point. So with the current credit price this figures into $8. However, you can not just buy 800 credits, the minimum is 750, so you would need to atleast spend $15 to have enough credits to cover the cost. How very microtransaction-ey that would be of them is this holds true. Can not say that I would be or am surprised. -
Skyrim Creation Club Beta, Survival Mode
CovertSlinky replied to CovertSlinky's topic in Step Banter Inn
Well, after giving it a quick look over. Precisely the idea, but they are WAY off from being anything more than maybe proof of concept imo. I mean the basic functionality of the idea is in place, and crudely implemented imo. It needs more detail to be brought into it. So yeah, the available mods you can currently use to achieve this idea and more, puts this out of it's misery. This was precisely my thinking while I played it. So, hopefully if nothing else (probably nothing else, lol), it could serve useful to the modding community. That person pretty much sums up what I saw. However, the mode is free, you have to log into the creation club ingame and then "buy" it. But it holds a 0 credit tag on it. So not sure where the $8 comes from. Yeah me too. If I said it slows the game pace down, it would be an understatement. The idea is very immersive, which I am all about. But it gets a lil too serious for me, and becomes more of a chore imo. I live that already, lol. I do not need chores when I am trying to decompress from my work. LOL, I guess to be fair, modding skyrim is exactly that a alot of times too.... but, to not mod skyrim!?... no, just no. -
Just noticed this bit of news in my Steam activity page. I am about to try this out. Bored at the minute, this is free, so what the hey! Anyone else notice this? Anyone try it out? Thoughts? Edit: Thought a link with further info might be useful, since I am reading it myself.

Troubleshooting Modlist - Plugins showing errors in xEdit
CovertSlinky replied to baronaatista's question in xEdit Support
Sorry to hear about your plight. I will give my two cents. I had came into a similar issue, not long after I first started STEP. I had completed a solid and stable 2.8 setup, and felt ready to start tackling adding my own preferred mods to my setup. It took me a pretty long while at first, to get the mods I wanted to all work together with the STEP mods. But after finally getting to what I thought was safe and stable, it being not safe and unstable showed. I can't fully remember anymore, but I know it was around 32 hours of game time, don't recall ever paying attention to my character level. But like you said game would just endlessly crash, any save I had available, the auto saves and like 3 saves I created, one of them was the prisoner save. So of course I could load that and play fine. After digging for answers, I was being told about save game bloat and unsafe saving habitats like the ones you pointed out and more. And yea, whether that was my issue or not I couldn't say because, I was ignorantly doing all the unsafe procedures for saves. I was also told about xedit and error checking. I wound up checking into this and found a ton of errors to mods I chose. Some where so bad, the only option was to pull it out. I remember having to pull out ETAC and and CoT and a couple more. Of course that meant breaking my save game. So I knew I was going to have to pull those out and go back to the drawing board. I did however, get somewhere with my save file, by using the save game script scalpel. After using the cleaning functions, I was able to continue playing that save for a while longer. To be honest I have no idea how much longer cause like I said, I knew what I was ultimately going to be doing, so at some point I just stopped playing that and went on to redoing my mod list. I didn't play for much longer either, I remember I was able to use that save to get back to where I initially couldn't progress, and than played for maybe another 5 or 6 hours, not all at once tho. But even the script scalpel showed me scripting problems I was having. So anyway, that's my long story. I just know now that using console commands in general is viewed as being unsafe, however did using advskill contribute to your problem, maybe, maybe not. You never really can be to sure when it comes to console commands. But to your question, I can't say for sure, whether they can be ignored safely in relation to the mods you have added yourself and whether they conflict with each other. But I do know that, xedit errors, you should not be taken lightly. My rule is to always avoid mods with errors when all possible. However, certain errors are more critical than others, having a hard time remembering off top my head, but DoubleYou, here on the forums was one of the people to initially give me advice concerning tesedit and mod errors and conflicts. Well, that's all I can say at this point, hope it helps or you find something that does. -
Lots of Lag - High specs at 4K
CovertSlinky replied to diznanl's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
According to information regarding this option, Boris states that this option is for and related to bad drivers, and if this option winds helping you, you first try to reinstall your gpu driver, as this would be the likely culprit. Furthermore this option was introduced as a means for troubleshooting, and should not be enabled for normal play. A 1070 struggles this much? I have no experience with a 1070, but I have played around with a 1080 my buddy bought that I helped setup for him. If you look at my specs I am running a somewhat weaker spec than you, but I can achieve a solid 60fps at 2k, which I run, but I can achieve an average of 49fps at 4k, for modded Skyrim anyway. This is without ANY personal overclocking of either the gpu, cpu or ram. If a 1070 struggles for 4k like you claim, I have to believe something is not right with the system it is installed on. If you are basing your information off of any review(s) posted on the internet about any gpu performance, this is terribly misleading. Take my card for example, PowerColor PCS+ R9 290. The reviews you read would never suggest that I could achieve anything close to what I can at 2k and 4k. Shoot, 4k isn't even a tested option for this card. -
I hope you meant to say the enblocal.ini and not your skyrim ini's. Cause if you removed enb, and things worked correctly, like I stated, the culprit would be incorrect enb settings. So, you should definitely be going back over the enb setup again. But I am glad to hear you are getting somewhere with your issue.
-
Steps you can take in troubleshooting this will be tedious. No one ever wants to hear that, but still no less true. But first, you should post your system specs. You could try running without ENB, see if that helps. If it does the obvious culprit would be wrong enblocal settings. Remove a mod at a time and run the game after each mod removed. This would identify a problematic mod. Other things to look for would be, double checking your ini settings. You could also verify integrity of game cache.

Request for suggestions on install order for non-STEP mods
CovertSlinky replied to JimmyBoi's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have a standard I use for myself when installing outside the STEP lineup. For starters I create mod categories that are exactly the same as what STEP has, it makes for an easy way to see mods from STEP are all installed and in order. Also I very much like there mod category labeling. So if you look at the mods they have in each category most speak for themselves, you should be able to understand what they mean, well they do in fact define their categories somewhere in the guide. So taking this knowledge, I then do my best to try and duplicate that for a non STEP mod, and install it where it seems more likely. So if it's a new armor or weapon, it would go into clothing and equipment. I place them in alphabetical order unless install order is important, just like STEP does. And so on and so forth. But keep in mind, as with modding in general, it will be trial by fire, unless of course you adhere to a strict STEP mod lineup, where they have done the trial by fire for all of us. Other things to bear in mind is how one mod might affect the mod's inside STEP, specifically, what options, if any, are chosen during the installation. What do I mean by that, well, I myself use mods, that another mod used in STEP has a a patch for compatibility, but since the mod is not inside STEP, naturally STEP tells you to install what is necessary for a STEP install. So, you will need to remember during installation, if any options are necessary for a mod you are adding outside of STEP. A good example off top my head for a mod like this would be AOS (audio overhaul for skyrim). AOS has MANY compatibility patches for mods, and while STEP only uses a few patches. Also STEP provides compatibility patches when there is not one available by the authors, So, you yourself might bring a mod to the table that may conflict with another, and compatibility will need to be addressed. And that is a very advanced stage of modding. Wow, that wound up being longer than I had originally thought, lol. Anyway, I will stop with that for now, that's plenty food for thought at this point I believe. Good luck and happy modding! -
FOV clipping through meshes at edge of screen
CovertSlinky replied to theblackman's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well, in all my years with Skyrim, this has been normal. I have always been able to clip the camera through walls, even capable when I played on the xbox 360 back in 2011. As for your second question, I think I know what you mean by this. And I actually have never investigated it as an issue, but being as you are curious, I'll take a stab and chalk it up to the fact that the main menu and all loading screens are frame locked at 32, so I am guessing this might maybe cause a slow down on the rendering, and if you pay attention to when this is very briefly occurring. I am almost positive that the frames shoot up to as high as they are allowed, so this fast instant influx of frames perhaps hurries whats left. Perhaps it's a priority issue with the rendering part, or maybe it's just another mistake by Bethesda with no apparent reason, but none the less causes us to asks questions. Like why/how did they screw up there own configs (the inis) and many many more. That's my two cents. EDIT: just had another thought, might make more sense if answer is yes. Are you using an ENB preset (graphically and color correction wise)? Most people these days do, I however do not anymore, I have way in the past. I haven't touched anything ENB related in a long time, so can't say for sure, but maybe the color correction of the ENB only loads in right at the end of the load? Or I am aware of many mods that make changes regarding colors, that work in conjunction with the ENB, and perhaps it is related to those mods being loaded in late. -
Yes hats off to the skse team, this a great milestone on a road with probably MANY milestones.
