AMidianBorn Content Addon Assistance
CovertSlinky replied to i_push_buttons's question in General Skyrim LE Support
That brings me to a question for ya. Did you go to the MO nexus page and download the fomod hotfix for the latest update, after you said you don't have an esp after installing a mod is what the hotfix is supposed to fix, so I am curious if you got that hotfix and are still having fomod problems. -
Possible to delete mod in one profile, but keep it in another?
CovertSlinky replied to Aldiesel18's question in Mod Organizer Support
No you cannot, deactivating it is the only way to not use it in another profile. But you could always go over to the MO bug tracker site, and make a feature request for it. EDIT: grammar corrections. -
OOooooOOOOoo, ahhhhhh, nice, <drool>. Now that is awesome, and no I can't verify it's legitimacy. BUT, looking at the picture, that mini-map idea, even if it is fake, looks possible. All they did was use the local map for it (the secondary map to the world map), now the question is whether it would update on screen in real time, as you move ya know. But I think it's plausible. Have you tried searching nexus for it?
-
Yeah, it prolly would of :). So now you know, got a problem, then come in here and share, someone will atleast try and help, and have an answer (most of the time anyway). Welcome to STEP and happy modding.

There is a hotfix at the MO nexus page for the fomod problem, that will take care of the problem.
-
^ precisely my thoughts.

Well, want to point out, even though it might only apply to me I suppose, that even after the bugfix, I still found a couple of mods that wouldn't download through MO while a few others did just fine. I had like 5 mods that needed an update yesterday, an two of them wouldn't download, they would queue up but hang at zero percent. I haven't tried to download since then though, so maybe it's irrelevant, idk. Yeah I can't even dowload SMIM, I tried to, but it said "failed to request file info: nexus empty response". I tried to download 1.74 main file. I am gonna try some of the other files from SMIM, and atleast see if I can get a file to download from somewhere. SMIM update to 1.74 from 1.72 downloaded just fine. That would have to mean a Nexus issue and not a MO issue, right?

I repaired electronics in the Army, and OH BOY, lemme tell ya about having to acquire a knack for explaining sh*t barney style, and even then that was not enough. The one thing I remember having the hardest and most commonly ridiculous complaints, was night vision goggles, and stupid joe's not pulling out there batteries when storing them, always had to repair battery compartments cause of battery corrosion and even at times batteries the caused major damage from exploding (after the Army itself caught on to this and got sick of having to replace whole housing's and made the battery compartment modular from the rest of the housing, lol, sorta helped.). And even having class time with -10 manual was pointless, and would show them that the manual puts in a note box about 30 times in relation to batteries, replacing them, not mixing different types, and taking them out after use (that was pointed out the most). LOL (end rant), so yeah I can relate to being exhausted from dealing with pure laziness and complacency, RTFM!

SKYRIMLE Optimized Vanilla Textures (by tony971)
CovertSlinky replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Interesting, I did my own BSA's, from the bit of information pointed out in the STEP guide, which then pointed to the link by arthmoor's guide on archive.exe. However, I did find that I had to do something that no one else mentioned. I first opened the originals in archive.exe and payed attention to what settings were in-place for them, they all had options that were different from what arthmoor pointed out. Now I never made a point to state it, cause quite honestly I wouldn't be surprised if what options I chose didn't matter, first time I made BSA's for the 7 vanilla BSA's I had all sorts of errors, mostly texture related, so after doing it the other way, they worked however there is a considerable gap in length of time that I did those different methods, so like I said could mean nothing. But, I was surprised that STEP didn't offer it's own guide for it, I don't see the harm in offering it, hell I'd even be more comfortable getting the answers here than somewhere else. Just my .02 cents. -
ILS when fast travelling to Whiterun
CovertSlinky replied to Paes's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Have you considered UAC as causing a problem? If you re-installed Skyrim when you began using STEP, there were instructions to install Skyrim outside of the "program files(x86)" folder so you can circumvent UAC, so I am curious if you did this? If not then you might need to run programs as an administrative level to prevent UAC from causing an issue with launching modded Skyrim, UAC can block those .dll plugins from hooking into the game. But, the problem with running as admin, is MO would have to be as well, but if you do that, and your browser is not set as admin level which is normal, MO will pop errors, cause that cannot be allowed, so your browser would then as well have to be set as admin, which I would not recommend. On the contrary, if the above isn't necessarily the case for you, are you running any of the programs with a mixed security level? I.e, you have TESV.exe setup to run as admin, but you don't have skse_loader.exe as admin, or vice-versa. Thought I'd throw my two cents in. Something to think about, maybe it'll help. -
If you are using CWO, like me, you either A, do what he says to do, so your save doesn't self destruct, lol. Or, B, you can use AS-LAL, again, like me. But the bottom line is, CWO requires a new save, as there is important stuff to the civil war that need to be attached to the save at the very beginning, no exceptions. As for Helgen Reborn, it's all good to install it and have the plugin activated but.....DO NOT read the Helgen Reborn book to initiate the quest until after you leave the cave with Ralof or Hadvar, after that, do not follow up on the quest (next step would be to go and see Patsy) until roughly 4 in-game days have passed, but more accurately when the bandits take over Helgen and the spikes with heads are at the front gates as you approach. Hope that helps and happy modding! :) EDIT: LOL, I bombed that question, Just disregard all of my instructions as I officially place a hat on my head with the word dunce :/

Naked again, few and random
CovertSlinky replied to MaximilianPs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Oh my HILARIOUS! I read Shadriss' post and got a chuckle, then Neovalen posts that mod and....wow, seriously, asking why is just not even worth it, lol. Who knew!? -

CovertSlinky replied to AdventureGirl's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Phazer listed a good build there for the "from scratch". And his other option is really good choice, plus you get yer new case and a nice I might say. I can attest to that cooler, as you can see I have one too, for the price and being an air cooled option, can't complain one bit, and it's noise level dbA is one of the best you can find for that price. -

CovertSlinky replied to MaximilianPs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ok, yeah you're right, I wasn't thinking about it from that perspective. I was thinking that since he said he installed it and tried it, that my thoughts would still be relevant. But I get it now, thanks for the correction. -
Naked again, few and random
CovertSlinky replied to MaximilianPs's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Wait, it is normal for npc's to be naked after getting ContentAddon functional, if you use an exisiting save. So, that deserves a question, lol, did you use an exisiting save or a new one after installing ContentAddon? If you used an exisiting save, then you have to fix'em with console command, resetinventory as you find'em naked. Did you try that at all throughout any of your fix attempts? -

The computer I have right now, which is listed in my signature, I built myself and paid $819 out the door at MicroCenter earlier this year. That pc has some respectable parts, the gpu for the most part, the cpu is ok, but for what the 8320 costs in comparison to the 8350, i'd just spend the extra $20 and grab the 8350 imo. The only thing that isn't listed (or I could not see) is the motherboard, and to me is the most important part, maybe it ain't listed cause it isn't that good, idk just a thought. But for the money, it's doable, but I still think your current machine with a new gpu is the way to go imo. Cause in all fairness, your 2500k is better than the 8320, the 8350 would be a better comparison though. -

I have a computer that is 8 years old and is still running and being on a daily basis (my wife uses it). It has a stable overclock on it that has been running straight for the past 4 years. So don't let the age concern you unless you got reason to believe it will cause a problem. I totally concur with everyone's recommendation, to put the money in a good gpu. I see nothing in those pictures telling me that a gpu won't fit, they are mostly designed with these things in mind more or less. The only possible conflict that might occur, is if you decided to leave that old gpu card installed after installing a new one, which you don't want to do in the first place, cause for one it isn't bridgable, and two you will want that extra space to give the new gpu room to breathe. So, choice is yours. -

Suggesting could be easily done, however, this would also depend on your budget. So throw a figure at us. Just having a 600W psu means nothing to me, I could go on a rant about what power requirements determine whyat psu you need, wattage alone does not dictate what is necessary....I am starting to already, lol. I don't want to unless you want me to, but anyways, what's your budget. -

CovertSlinky replied to AdventureGirl's question in General Skyrim LE Support
So what exactly is the question? Are you just merely asking if any of those mods are still good to use? Or is there a more elaborate question that totally blew over my head, lol. A few of those mods I am not familiar with, majority of them I am. And for the ones I know, they are fine to use. Regardless, it will all boil down to compatibility between them and anything else you throw in, which brings me to another point, do you plan on installing a STEP Core? The pc looks workable, 1gb of vram is your biggest downer. If you decide to upgrade for the sake of modding skyrim, go with a 4 gb card of some sort. But, anyway, welcome to STEP and happy modding. -
20-30 fps after STEP Guide (Macro stutters)
CovertSlinky replied to Beamer's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You are actually referring to two different people phazer. Guner does run his SLi GTX 480's, but beamer who is the OP, is the one who uses the AMD HD 4870's in CrossFire mode. And if I would have seen him make that statement, lol, there is NO way I would not have asked him the same exact question. That's like laying out two different options before you. On the one hand you have an ice cream cone, On the other hand you have a banana split with hot fudge and cashews and cherries and can't forget the sprinkles.... you get the point, lol. -
Install Order - STEP Core - aMidianBorn
CovertSlinky replied to GunerX's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ok, I understand what you meant by being confused. And I suppose it would make sense to word that better in a more lehman's terms sense (no offense intended), just because it didn't confuse one person doesn't mean it wouldn't confuse others. -
Install Order - STEP Core - aMidianBorn
CovertSlinky replied to GunerX's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have no idea what the problem is, if you followed STEP, it's pretty clear, and should look like this aMidianBorn Book of Silence - ArmorsaMidianBorn Book of Silence - CreaturesaMidianBorn Book of Silence - Dragonborn DLCaMidianBorn Book of Silence - Unique ItemsaMidianBorn Book of Silence - WeaponsaMidianBorn Book of Silence - Bonemold HotfixaMidianBorn Book of Silence - Content Addon Qoute from the guideAlso download and install the Bonemold hotfix. The Skyforge hotfix is included in the Content Addon. Now install the Content Addon using the Improved Closefaced Helmets ESP. Unless I am missing something here. EDIT: If I am not mistaking, ContentAddon is suppossed to overwrite those files, cause it a patch to allow support of texture variations. -
CTD when installing standalone armour pack
CovertSlinky replied to O0mix0O's question in General Skyrim LE Support
LOL, I have had that happen, sounds like it is time to start using tes5edit to merge patches, so you can continue on, or start dropping some. That's funny, it was that simple solution, like you said, right in front of your nose. -
Mod Organizer Spotty Downloading, Won't Log In
CovertSlinky replied to atlasatlarge's question in Mod Organizer Support
Yeah it's totally hit or miss, right now, I can download DSR mesh packs but it won't query the info. I can't download CBBE unless done manually, and AS-LAL just downloaded and queried the info fine. Gotta be a nexus issue with there servers, I tried using different servers for the downloads that wouldn't go through like CBBE, and it didn't make a difference. -
CTD when installing standalone armour pack
CovertSlinky replied to O0mix0O's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Dang, that sucks :/ You know what's gonna happen right... either at some point after giving up, a light bulb is going to turn on and you are going to know what the deal is, or after giving up, then at some point later you sorta forget that there was a problem, and install the armor or weapon pack again, and this time it works, lol. The latter tends to happen to me all the time.
