Well I think that would be great. It would be more or less the same ends, achieved by different STEPs. Yea ok, mine was bad.
-
I don't mean maintaining it. Only when a new STEP is released(this new 2.2.9 for instance), write in the changelog the mods that has been updated as well. It would not be fair to expect you to constantly update the condition of the mods. I only meant when you release a new version of STEP. I assume you check all the mods inbetween releases anyway, because if a major change has happend(take again Weapon and Armor Fixes, now with a Fomod not previously available), you would need to know. So when people who already have STEP setted up, when a new guide is released, they could just go to the changelog and everything will be up-to-date without having the do a complete reinstall of STEP and without having to check every single of the 200 mods. Again, this would be neat, though certainly not something that should be prioritized over the more important aspects of STEP, but I can't imagine that it would take a lot of time.

Take for instance "Birds and Flocks". Mod Organizer list my installed version as "2014-06-03"(install date) and newest version as "2.4". But there hasen't been release of "Birds and Flocks" since December 2012. Actually I wanted to not do the "Check for update" function, because this happend last time as well. Now all mods are flagged, with about 80% of them being flagged just like "Birds and Flocks" is flagged. And while it is practically meaningless, I dislike that my left pane of Mod Organizer now appear so ironically disorganized.
-
Yes, but I have noticed that this "Check for update" function is rarely actually correct. Whether this is an oversight in Mod Organizer or Nexus I don't know. Mod Organizer is flagging a lot of my mods for not being up-to-date, when they in fact are up-to-date.
-
Hi all! I'm not actually sure this is the right place to put this but if it is, please move it the correct section. I wanted to ask if perhaps in the changelog of STEP, it can be added if a mod from the previous STEP guide has been updated(Weapon and Armor Fixes for instance). Because if you have 2.2.8 installed, it is fairly easy to up it to 2.2.9, due to Mod Organizers VFS. But since you can't know if an update of the mod has been uploaded, you kinda needs to check all the mods, unless you just happen to know that support for a mod is no longer maintained. Of cause, if this would cause much trouble for the developers of STEP, it is not a must, but it would help immensly upgrading the guides, since a completely new install, takes quite a while. ~Sincerely Halde.

General Questions Thread

Remember to delete your current Batched Patch and rebuild it each time you change your plugin order(add or remove mods with an .esp). Same goes for Dual Sheath Redux Patch. -
I am a bit confused about the new Mod Organizer.
Halde replied to Halde's question in Mod Organizer Support
Well this has only been an issue with one of the newer versions of Mod Organizer. When they implemented the whole non-MO mods. In 1.2.1 at least, this didn't happen. -

Another problem seems to have arisen. Mod Organizer messes up my left pane list everytime I shut it down. It's like it won't accept that I changed the installation order. When I open the program, DDSopt Dragonborn and Dawnguard is at the top of the priority again, unticked. I figured this out as well. Apparently, you should no longer name the DDSopt optimized textures the name of the DLC(as I believe the DDSopt guide suggest, and at least what I did), because then Mod Organizer will untick it, and make it top priority(which I suppose doesn't matter when it's unticked). So DDSopt optimized textures should NOT be named accordingly to their DLC. I renamed mine to "Dragonborn DDSopt" and "Dawnguard DDSopt". -

Halde replied to Halde's question in Mod Organizer Support
So basically, I need to manually place the DLC's at the bottom priority, and never ever again use Mod Organizer's new "Fix" feature in the "Potential Mod order problem" under "Problems"? EDIT: I figured out what the heck the "Dawnguard" and "Dragonborn" tickables was. It was my DDSopt textures that Mod Organizer for some reason had moved to the very top of the priority. -
Hi all! So I've just updated my Mod Organizer from 1.2.1 to 1.2.9. A couple of new features, that I have no idea what does, has been implemented. I can now see my DLC's in the left mod pane. But I don't understand the order. For some reason, each time I open Mod Organizer, the mod list in the left pane change, so that each time, I can use another new feature where it auto sorts the order of the list. Furthermore, two new mods "Dawnguard" and "Dragonborn" has become available. I can tick these boxes(they are in the very end of the installation order) but they as well gets unticked whenever I shut down Mod Organizer. I don't even know if I should tick them, because the actual DLC is listed not too long away, about 20 priorities higher up. What does this thing do? When I open it in explorer, it seems to be the normal Dawnguard and Dragonborn folders. It has all the textures and such. This leads me to another question. If these tick-able DLC mods, and the actual non-tick-able DLC is listed so far down the list, won't they overwrite my optimized textures, which STEP says should be listed at the very beginning of the installation order? And won't they also overwrite any other texture mod that is listed in higher up on the list? I'm so confused...

What appears to be FPS drop(lag) without FPS drop.

Ah. I'll try that, thanks -
What appears to be FPS drop(lag) without FPS drop.
Halde replied to Halde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Should I be able to see a difference when running in Windowed Mode? I ticked the option in the launch menu, but I didn't notice a difference(I mean difference when alt-tabbing for instance, didn't notice anything different from non-Windowed mode)(I launch my modded game through SKSE in Mod Organizer). Also this is now a major problem, as it also affect my gameplay in other indoor locations. Just raided the Silent Moon Camp north-west of Whiterun, with the similar form of lag that I experienced in High Hrothgar, still with high FPS. -
What appears to be FPS drop(lag) without FPS drop.
Halde posted a question in General Skyrim LE Support
Hi all! I am playing with a modded setup, more or less modded according to the 2.2.9 version, which is still under development, plus a few more mod of personal preference. I am running a solid 25-35 outdoor FPS and 55-60 indoor FPS. I just made it to High Hrothgar for the first time on this character, and I noticed a weird lag, that felt a little like FPS drop. My FPS keeps steady though around the 55-60. I first thought it was a problem with the mouse(sometimes it happens, especially when you strafe and turn), but the mouse have nothing to do with it. I really don't know what it could be. It is not a gamebreaking problem though, as I've only noticed it in High Hrothgar(and only inside the actual keep) and not in any other indoor or outdoor spaces, be it dungeon, city or house. But still, if anyone knows what might cause this, it would be greatly appreciated. ~Sincerely Halde I almost forgot! I have the same kind of problem when I'm in the skill tree menu. When I pick or set perks(or you know, just check them) this same kind of lag shows itself. The rest of the menu run seemingly smooth, but the skill tree menu seems to suffer the same problem as indoor High Hrothgar. Also, I should note that I have my FPS capped at 60 in the enblocal.ini(or whatever enb.ini you cap it in) -
Hi all! So in my Skyrim, I just noticed Jarl Balgruf's of Whiterun texture or something was missing. He could talk to me, but he wasen't visible. Also, I couldn't talk to him, instead I could sit on his throne, as if he wasen't there. I have followed STEP 2.2.9, and have a few mods outside of STEP, none of them specific to the Jarls or to Jarl Balgruf. The only mod I have for specifically the Jarls are the "Appropiately Attired Jarls" mod. ~Sincerely Halde

Hi all! So I have a weird thing happening ingame. I don't know what it is, but it feels a bit like a FPS drop(but it isn't I'm constantly monitoring FPS using the ENBoost feature). It feels like something is physically blocking my screen from moving smoothly, mainly when I strafe(or perhaps just visually noticeable when I strafe). I know this is a very vague description, but it's pretty much the most descriptive picture I can make. Hope you can help! ~Sincerely Halde

Thank you!

Hi all! Well I just wanna know in what enbseries ENBoost as introduced? I might try a couple of ENB's but if I don't know if ENBoost is a fundamental part of the ENB, or if it is a newly added feature. Specifcally, the enbseries v121212 is the one I am wondering about. ~Sincerely Halde

General performance with my somewhat decent laptop.
Halde replied to Halde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Wow, thank you very much. I completly understand what you are saying:) I have completed my install now, using Skyrim HD Lite over Skyrim Realistic Overhaul, which I actually like more as well. I have optimized them as well. So I'm running between 25-35 FPS outside and a steady 60 FPS inside, as I previously did. And load times are like ~20 seconds! That's great! Thank you all! -
Well LOOT showed a message about cleaning SDO - The Morthal Swamp and Dawnguard.esm. I had already cleaned Dawnguard once(and as I've said, I did turn of the sync to SteamCloud),and when I cleaned it again, it did have 6 ITM as LOOT reported. The SDO - The Morthal Swamp did also have well above 100 ITM, that LOOT also showed. BOSS didn't even show these ITM when I ran it the first time.
-
I removed the sync option in Steam long ago. Perhaps LOOT discovered some dirty edits that BOSS didn't?
-
LOOT works fine now:) Thanks @fireundubh Another thing, though unrelated to LOOT or this thread. How does dirty edits work? I already cleaned Dawnguard, but for some reason it now needs cleaning again... I kinda didn't wanna start a new thread, I just need to know if this is normal and if I should just keep cleaning them when they appear as warning in LOOT/BOSS
-
When I attempt to launch LOOT I get the a message saying that I am missing the MSVCP120.dll. When I launch it through Mod Organizer however, I don't get this error. But when I launch it through Mod Organizer, either the process is about 1 second in duration, or it is not working correctly. I downloaded the Archive version here: https://github.com/loot/loot/releases ~Sincerely Halde

Low FPS, wailing carts and CTD after installing STEP
Halde replied to Halde's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I will! For the Injector ENB(it's not covered in STEP) do I just need the ENBInjector.exe and the ENBInjector.ini and enblocal.ini? My normal FPS used to be about 28-35 outside and a steady 60 inside. -
