I'd love a mod like this. A tiny bit of extra realism (bandits and other similarly regular enemies should only use regular, maybe a tiny better stuff, but not the best) and a bit of less stuff served in silver platter (I totally agree with the idea that best kinds of armour should not just be available easily).

DROPPED Unofficial Skyrim Patch (by Unofficial Patch Project Team)
Octopuss replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Probably from Bethesda forum because it's still beta. -
Yes I know about that. But that doesn't change the fact it seems like a bit too many :D Besides, I'd never memorize stuff like that anyway :D
-
Am I the only one who is getting lost in all the coloured names? Isn't there a bit too many groups?... It's a bit confusing (but not "gamebreaking" at the same time, of course).

Windows 7 vs Windows 8 for Gaming
Octopuss replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Game Discussion
Well it does give problems if you run out of VRAM or if you start some incompatible program, but other than that it works just fine. -
Those CPU saving states were here ages ago already :) It's great feature. And the best part is it works when overclocking, if done properly. My CPU runs at 4.4GHz, but downlocks to like 1400 or something. I agree with 4.4. It's reasonable maximum speed past which it's pointless effort and you only increase the heat without any reasonable performance gains at all.

What's this obsession with classic desktop style? I LOVE Aero. It's awesome! :D -
Windows 7 vs Windows 8 for Gaming
Octopuss replied to TechAngel85's topic in General Game Discussion
Windows 8 is probably better from technical point of view, being more optimized and whatnot, and from what I read in past has superior memory management. However, it's not just about that. First, it's not mature enough. And second... I made a post summing up my attempt to give this system a shot. TL;DR version: I am sticking with Windows 7. -
Can't install Interesting NPC's 3.0.4 with MO
Octopuss replied to wolverine2710's question in Mod Organizer Support
File size limitation is not related to 32/64bit architecture at all. That's file system limitation, and I believe it's 4GB for FAT32, and "unlimited" with NTFS (which you are using for sure). Maybe the author packed it with newer version of 7-Zip, which is incompatible with the one used in MO (9.20, almost four years old). edit: I happen to have the mod downloaded. I got MO 1.1.1 and didn't mess with plugins configuration at all because I don't understand the settings. Installed the mod just fine. Just clicked ok and it processed without problems. edit2: Looking at your other post, I think you have some general problem that's not related to individual mods at all. -
Looking at his posts I just get the big red spammer warning. Not in the typical meaning, though. He posts absolute rubbish that doesn't make any sense at all and even with a lot of imagination (and language barrier possibility in mind) has nothing to do with the threads. edit: Also, he necro's various threads. Ignoring posting dates has nothing to do with possible language barrier (and honestly in this case of possible borderline zero knowledge of english I don't understand why he even registered). This is a spammer trend I noticed several times in past on forums where you had to have certain amount of posts before you could post links.

Noone banned this spammer yet?!

SB overclocked so well mostly because the IHS is soldered to the die. No stupid empty gap between them, resulting in superb thermal conductivity. And it's overclockable higher in general (apparently because of some other architectural difference). Delidding IB is sort of required if you want to hit any reasonable frequenty, and your CPU isn't a vcore prodigy. I was pretty lucky, because mine overclocks to 4.4GHz with just a tiny bump, but other people were not, and have to use absurd amounts of voltage. I could have gotten it higher, maybe 4.6, but my approach is not every bit of performance at any cost. Pro tip: delid, apply Collboratory Liquid Ultra on the die (being a liquid metal it doesn't ever dry out), get IHS back on, and use some decent classic paste under the heatsink (I switched to Noctua NT-H1).

Ahh more screenshots, yay! Ren, what was your motivation to make Akatosh green? I think the original redish colour is pretty original and nice.
-
It can, but it costs an extra 3-4 FPS in my testing. Same exact effect with a slight FPS cost (on my system though) ... it would be good to have confirmation of this cost on other systems. Why not use the ingame setting?
-
I don't think this would cause you any problems whatsoever until you get into such overclocking state where one bump in timings or 10MHz difference messes everything up, so in a way, you are probably right. On the other hand, kits usually don't cost much more than two separate modules, so... :D Delidding is awesome. It dropped my temperatures by 20°C. And you know what? The temperature drop alone finally brought me stability on the same overclock! I am clumsy as hell, and I had the basic process done in 3 minutes :) Well worth it! Now I don't have first hand experience with Haswell, but I read from different sources it runs hotter than IB, which is the reason why overclocking is a bit more difficult. There are also some really serious architectural differences though, I think something with different transistors or something?, which adds to it. But I really don't understand these things one bit, I am borderline user/enthusiast :P
-
Ah ok, I see you're decided already :) If the price difference is that low, I guess it's good enough reason alone. I would probably choose Haswell-based board myself because FINALLY there is no goddamn useless PCI slot, allowing for some more freedom with cards placement. I do have some experience with IB overclocking though (I even delidded my CPU), and you really did not have to disable anything. I spent weeks tweaking it, and my brain was melting, but in the end it worked pretty well. But that's entirely different discussion :D The thing with memory is that when you buy dual channel kit, you have a guarantee they were tested in the factory to be absolutely 101% compatible. It's the same deal as with CPUs: the same stepping, maybe even same batch, and yet two pieces overclock with night and day difference. Fortunately, it's nowhere near as important with memory. Personally, I would not do it, but if it's working out for you, why not!

I would recommend not getting Haswell stuff. For one, it's the current generation hi-end, and thus a bit more expensive. Second, it has different socket than Ivy Bridge, and previous CPUs are not compatible with it, which leads me to: third, Haswell overclocks worse than Ivy Bridge. It's just hotter. If you plan to overclock, I would rather get cheaper and well tested (by time thus far) Z77 board with nice i7 3770K CPU for much more reasonable price. I would probably stick with Asus board, because Gigabyte has been having this disgusting habit of barely supporting boards six months past their introduction (I've been waiting for non-beta BIOS for my board since october 2012). Very important warning regarding memory: DO NOT BUY INDIVIDUAL MODULES! Always but dual channel package, only then it's guaranteed to work without any problems. If you intend to overclock, going the route you chose would only bring you headaches with just a homeopatic amount of bad luck. Seriously, don't even think about it. Just choose good 2x4GB kit and be done with it. You can overclock 1600MHz to 1866 easily, and that's all you need. Going higher doesn't bring much if any additional performance at all. Also, be warned that the more modules you have the more difficult it is to keep system stable when overclocked.

But if I don't expect to reach 60 FPS 99% of the time, disabling vsync is actually a good idea for the sake of less input lag, yes?
-
That's an interesting mod. Tough choices eh? RLO is still under development though, maybe just catching a breath a little...
-
Yeah, it's all static pages with exactly the same numbers on them, no matter what you click on. Ridiculous :D
-
What calculator?
-
The guide says "Change parameters according to your video card.", and the link points to some iparadigm.org website which I have no idea about, and there I get to click through some nonsense generic looking static pages which ultimately lead to incomplete and absolutely identical enblocal.ini settings. I have no idea what's the deal here, but I highly recommend getting rid of this.

Shouldn't this be marked as dropped, since it's obsolete and hidden by author?

Is there a mod that... (Mod Detectives)

I found this thread on ENB forums. It says Doesn't this do more or less the same thing as this mod?
