How much? Do you have any idea? All this new stuff actually made me want to donate a little bit something I can afford to a few selected authors, but if PayPal eats large part of it, I don't know what's worse.
-
I just threw up in my mouth a little. That can't be true.

I have only played with the mod a short while so I can't really answer that. I have also not actively played Skyrim for a long time so my memory of CH is somewhat blurred, too. It, very subjectively, feels more lightweight than CH, the configuration feels better, and the horse management looks awesome. I guess you'll have to try it yourself :P There are some interesting new features, and it's supposedly much less script intensive.

This mod is only getting better and better.

ACCEPTED Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM (by Brumbek)
Octopuss replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Holy crap, Brumbek is back after 8 months! -
You wouldn't happen to be related to missjennabe in any way? :P
-
I think that's wrong way to look at it. A modder creates something all by himself (well, mostly) and is not part of any company, there are no other people and no other costs besides his own expenses in life.
-
I am puzzled by this as well. Were some of the most known authors approached by Steam, saying "hey we're testing this paid mods invention, wanna hang around?"
-
Oh, speakin of cats! About two months ago I had to have my old (and first) grumpy cat of almost 13 years euthanized. Suddenly the flat was really empty with just one permanent cat remaining (the other comes and goes during the day), so my wife and I went ahead and got something we've wanted the whole time we've been together: an abyssinian cat! So what we bought a cat for over €350, he's awesome (and all of our other cats were/are adopted or found, so we had the right to do this). Meet Ernesto, an abyssinian cat :) Rest of the photos are on my DeviantArt. You can find some more in other galleries if you're into cats.

That's true. Steam users are not even worth commenting, but the **** people one Nexus are capable of is just horryfyingly disgusting. Basically, all they do (and all the know) is whine, complain and insult. Entitled demanding ******s. No I am not happy about the whole thing either. But I am not a retarded idiot.
-
I guess if Nexus wasn't so extreme about money, authors wouldn't feel the need to do this now? I mean, they aren't even allowed to encourage people for a little donation.
-
Heh, those 25% will be very hard earned. So much crap for so little. I actually feel sorry for the authors in a way.
-
Damnit, it's getting late and my already limited english fails. How do you mean Kelmych? :)
-
I know! I meant those mods that are exclusively (or at least for a time) on Steam. I'd rather send the money directly to Chesko or Nikkita. I can do that anytime I like, but I'd still have to wait 3 months until I could download the mod from Nexus :P P.S. How on Earth do I make Steam mods work with MO, when they are automatically downloaded and installed+updated?
-
25%????? What the actual F*CK? How can anyone agree to that? Like Dark0ne said, 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing, but seriously, how can anyone support this sort of ripoff? Plus it's funny how Bethesda is "done" with Skyrim and won't bother fixing at least the few most annoying bugs, but gladly spends time inventing this. That's a stupid observation obviously, it's money, but it pisses me off.
-
Actually now that I think about it, if Bethesda (or even Bethesda AND Steam) is getting a cut (maybe even significant) - I don't believe for a second they would allow people to sell mods just like that, because they deserve something for their work - I don't think I'd buy anything from Steam. I'd much rather send the full amount directly to an author. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem like an option. Sure we're still talking less than five lousy euros here, but out of general principle, you know...
-
What pisses me off the most is probably the fact isoku didn't announce anything like this happening, not even suggesting. He's been talking specifics about next versions of his mod, and suddenly (without any hint of them being actually finished) they appear on Steam. That's pretty bad move from him. edit: actually it seems several authors has done exactly the same thing. After weeks or even months of waiting (and discussing it with author himself) for a release, suddenly it's Steam only without a single word. Well I call that betrayal. I still don't, technically speaking, have a problem with paying a few bucks for a good mod, but it's the matter in which things are apparently being done that make me want to yell in their faces "why you little piece of s....?!!!" and which I strongly dislike. Like I've been waiting for Arissa v2 for a year, closely following the development, and week after Chesko hyped everyone about it being just around the corner, it suddenly appears on Steam with absolutely no explanation or anything on Nexus. Well... That's not smart move.
-
The comments on Nexus are funny though. I'm not saying I am happy about paid mods, but to be honest, there's nothing wrong with it. After all, the whole Nexus site is one huge paid mod, and it's pretty stupid how authors are strictly forbidden to make any money off their work while Nexus is regular paying job for the people running it. However, if someone's (say isoku) mods will become strictly paid, I'd be pissed. ...also, I can't imagine myself paying like €20 if I wanted a few of someone's mods. That would be the price of a full game and I would feel retarded if I did that.

I think someone should suggest an addition to LOOT's masterlist for DynDoLOD.esp. -
ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
Octopuss replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Keith, can you possibly share anything about the next update? From the fragments of posts I caught it seems like it's just you working on the mod now? -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Octopuss replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
I already did. Have you seen the report about a bug in the hook I submitted about a week ago? https://issue.tannin.eu/tbg/modorganizer/issues/1118 -
LOL!!!

It's just rugs, and they fit in well. I don't see any problem. Not unless Gamwich put My Little Pony on them.
-
Anyone tried this yet? How much more different is it than Arthmoor's mod?

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64830/? RUGNAROK is my attempt to do for rugs what my PELTAPALOOZA mod did for pelts. Rugs aren't merely clutter items in Skyrim, despite their classification. They also serve as artwork in the game, and in some locations such as Dragonsreach, they have a very large visual presence. The vanilla rug textures are not only low-res, but they are poorly designed. The fringed rugs actually use a separate set of rug textures just for the fringe. This is not only a waste of VRAM, but a poor solution, since the fringe only occupies a small part of the original textures. Fortunately, raiserfx already addressed this issue with his excellent and immensely popular Detailed Rugs mod. He replaced the secondary rug textures with a new and more detailed fringe texture, as well as revising the meshes to use the new fringes. It's a much better solution than what Bethesda came up with. It seemed obvious that any new overhaul should incorporate raiserfx's quality fixes. I'm was pleased that he graciously granted me permission to use his fringes and mesh edits for this mod. With RUGNAROK, I wanted to go beyond the default rug textures. While some of the Bethesda rug designs were OK to begin with, there was no point in duplicating what raiserfx did with Detailed Rugs. He created a truly hi-res lore-friendly retexture of the vanilla rug designs. I wanted to go further with a redesign of the rugs. Many of the vanilla rugs never appealed to me from a design standpoint. Not only were many of the designs uninteresting, but there was no overall design esthetic that I could discern. While I could well imagine that a number of the rugs might be imported, and not of Nord design, I still thought that most of them would be. And if they were of Nord design, they should have some shared motifs. That's what I endeavored to do.
