  1. A new version (2.78) of the batch files for the DDSopt guide was added. "2_Pre-optimization_2.78.bat" contains a small change that eliminates including the "facegendata" folder from the DLC BSAs in the optimized data. The textures in this folder aren't optimized so they don't need to be in the optimized texture folder for the 3 DLCs.
  2. I'll add the install order recommendations shortly.
  3. I have Fallout NV and Skyrim on an alternate drive (an SSD) and the rest of the Steam games on an HDD. I haven't had any problems with this. I haven't tried putting Fallout 3 on an alternate drive; the SSD I use for the other two games doesn't have enough room for FO3. When I can I'll try seeing whether I have problems when FO3 is on an alternate drive. Steam didn't really finish the alternate drive implementation. For example, tools like Creation Kit can only be installed on the main drive that Steam uses; you then have to copy it to the alternate drive.
  4. No. I use LOOT for the load order, although I do make a few changes to the metadata (the ones I'll provide soon for the guide). There are several small mods that I want to load before "FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp", and I want UUF3P - FWE to load after FWE and the Blackened patch for FWE, MMM, Project Beauty (and EVE if used) to load after that. I do use a bashed patch with all of this, using the bash tags that by now have propagated to the LOOT masterlist.
  5. Looking at your description of the problem it sounds like Fallout 3 registry keys still pointed to the original HDD location. I'm assuming when you put it on an SSD you added the additional directory with Steam and when you moved the files to the SSD you had Steam verify the files, right? If you previously installed the game on the HDD you need to make sure that it is recognized properly when moved to the SSD. If you can start the game from the Fallout Launcher in the Fallout 3 GOTY folder on the SSD it should work OK. As you explore this, let me know if the fixes in the Troubleshooting section ended up including the solution.
  6. Perhaps it isn't sufficiently clear in the guide;I changed it in guide. The Pre-installation section mentions that the fallout launcher needs to run first, and it needs to be started from the Fallout 3 GOTY folder (NOT from MO).
  7. Looks like I forgot to include the FWE patch for Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision in the guide. I'll add it. IMCN description says it is compatible with FWE and MMM (optional mod in guide) when using the additional plugins including the updated optional versions for FWE and MMM. The readme.txt for IMCN describes how to manually add the HUD readout to menusmainhud_main_menu.xml; this isn't quite right for the setup in the guide. Two choices: ("best", but not recommended because it might lead to having to reinstall all the UI mods) Install IMCN before (lower MO priority) Adjustable HUD (which is itself just before Immersive HUD) and then redo the installation of Immersive HUD and Unified HUD. (my preference would be this) Install IMCN before Adjustable HUD (which is itself just before Immersive HUD). Then add the line: <include src="IMCNimp.xml" />to the bottom of the file "includes_HUDMainMenu.xml" in the "Unified HUD" mod. This file is in the menusprefabs folder of the installed version of Unified HUD. You will see other similar entries in this file.
  8. This information is in the file tree screenshot "Working Folder Directory Tree after Vanilla Texture Optimization" on the right side of the page below the optimization instructions.
  9. All plugins must be cleaned individually. Start FO3Edit and open a plugin in FO3Edit, clean it and close FO3Edit saving the plugin if it needed cleaning. Repeat until all the plugins are complete. Running LOOT before cleaning will tell you which plugins need cleaning. I didn't include the names of each dirty plugin since I provided that information to LOOT and they incorporated it into their masterlist.
  10. Do you have a separate folder for the bashed patch for each profile? It helps to do this so when you switch profiles you don't need to immediately rebuild the bashed patch. The only way I know how to check how the armor is distributed is to use TES5Edit. Look at the Leveled Item object in the Amidianborn content plugin and see what the bashed patch did with each item.
  11. Thanks. I posted the log on the Nexus forum for NVAC.
  12. I've been using the standalone executable version of Wrye Flash, so I used the same version of Wrye Bash. The problem happens when Relations are imported, or there is a problem when some mods are included in import cells (the updated unofficial fallout 3 patch).
  13. I installed Wrye Bash and when I run it with my Fallout 3 plugin load I get an error near the end of the patch creation. I tried disabling a few mods but I still got the error.
  14. I don't see a separate Fallout version of Wrye Bash, does it use the same one as Skyrim?
  15. I'm also interested in getting reports from users with graphic cards that don't have as much VRAM and/or compute capability. I have a 4GB card, so it's hard for me to determine a set of Fallout 3 mods adequate for less capable systems. With cards like yours it's useful to get reports since they help verify that the overall guide suggestions seem reasonable.
  16. There is an annotated list of some of the Skyrim magic mods in the Magic Pack ideas page in my signature. I continue to gather information on these, and what users want the magic mods to provide, until I startup a Magic Pack for STEP.
  17. Thanks again. I added the removal of Worldspace to the guide.
  18. That sounds great. I've had very few CTDs. My only recurring problem is having the game not load a new area or a new save. What kind of graphic card do you use?
  19. Thanks for the update. I haven't been using EVE in my testing so I don't catch all of these issues. The guide has been updated with instructions on removing this container.
  20. I was wondering how fast this would happen. I'm fixing the guide to be compatible with this newer plugin. Unfortunately the new patch with EVE still needs to be cleaned. I'm also adding some instructions for the RH_Ironsights EVE patch since it has a problem.
  21. I'll create the instructions for the plugin you are using.
  22. Which blackened plugin are you using? I tested the one for FWE, Project Beauty, and MMM.
  23. The expanded instructions for Blackened explain how to change Blackened to use the new MMM merged plugin. It requires FO3Edit. Alternatively you can continue using the existing MMM without changing Blackened (but get the most recent version of whichever Blackened plugin you use).
  24. Thanks for fixing the links. I saw in the history page that you had entered fixes in the guide; it's always good to have help.
  25. Thanks for the feedback. The guide has been corrected.
