General Support Thread
phazer11 replied to Solist's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
If it was anything like my issue it was caused by the consistency files (which are located there). Leviathan posted a section on his user manual to solve it when I asked him about the problem. -

I was using DDSOpt completely successfully until today. Now I can't use the program because it seems to be in an infinite startup loop checking the output. what I mean is the program opens but says skimming output xxxx Any ideas? At first it was when I told it to run as admin. Now I have to keep deleting the folder. I'm in Windows 8 64-Bit any ideas.
-
OK I'm just dying to know! Neo exactly what settings did you use in DDSOpt to get everything running and not hit your RAM limit with 2k textures and 1k normals? I'm following the DDSOpt guide and even with the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized (maybe I don't have it installed in ModOrganizer properly) I'm still hitting the RAM limit without AV or DSR installed and I still have about 1GB of VRAM free out of 3GB.
-
Yeah I know right >v< I'm quite pissed to be completely honest I have plenty of VRAM free (about a GB) I'm going to OC the video card again and see if that allows me to go to 1600x900. I currently have it set as Neo specified via Nvidia Inspector and Skyrim Configurator and anisotropic filtering is set to 4x through Skyrim Configurator.
-
Alright I have it working it appears but the RAM usage is still high compared to VRAM. VRAM is at about 2.1GB (I forgot to optimize the normals to 1k on some packs before) but RAM is ~2.9-3GB. I'm getting between 50 and 60 FPS with the occasional stutter @ 1366x768 resolution with the following .ini settings. Here's a screenshot of Performance Monitor and my BOSS log as well. Had to put the ini's and log in a 7z archive Any ideas on increasing performance? I'm think I'm going to make Skyrim HD and Serious HD 1k. I also have the Bethesda HD Texture Pack Optimized in there with Hybrid and Vanilla Normals and wasn't sure if I loaded it correctly. INI tweaks would be welcomed and I'll Overclock it a bit as well it's only going about half as fast as it can go. My test area was from Riverwood Sleeping Giant Inn alternate start location through the woods past the standing stones, to the bandit camp, into and around the big lake and the ship inside it around the mountains to the road to sleeping tree camp, into Whiterun, bought and crafted stuff in Whiterun slept in Whiterun ate, drank filled bottles up and boiled in Whiterun (did not go in Dragonsreach). Set up the tent a few times between Whiterun and Riverwood, caught some Salmon, chopped some firewood did a few side quests (like Alvor's crafting thing) and slept a few times. settings.7z

I've gotten VRAM usage down to around 1900MB and it peaks at 2500MB. I guess I should maybe get the 1k version of Skyrim HD and use it? I'm getting CTD some times even if RAM is below/around 2.4GB. Anyone able to make a list of which mods I should install first then test then the next set etc? I'd like to start with all the textures and custom body stuff. Then move on to things like frostfall.I also want Automatic vaiants.
-
I didn't realize it posted earlier >v< That's the RAM usage without HighRes Texture pack, and everything else optimized to 2048x2048 or less with 1k normals. I don't get any CTD's with textures (including the armor ones) during my tests (the RAM is pushing it with the VRAM staying steady around ~2400MB with the Optimized HD DLC)

1. Textures and Normals Optimized: Check 2. Tried Disabling AV: Check no help 3. High RAM usage regardless of texture packs: check 4. Texture mods only: check 5. Body mods, Animations and Textures check: still high RAM usage 6. ... Need I go on? I've tried many combo but it's the finished product that seems to have an issue
-
Alright this is just plain annoying now. I disabled the HighRes Texture packs in Mod Organizer (and of course VRAM usage is way down) so now I'm pulling around 1.6GB VRAM (Skyrim HD and Serious HD Full versions with 1k normal maps and optimized 2k textures) plus the Skyrim Revisited mods and I STILL CTD or most usually freeze near the wolf ambush around Riverwood (and likely elsewhere) Also the RAM usage is ridiculous all things considered (look at this screenshot and the ones I posted earlier in the thread)

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
phazer11 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I tried it and it still CTD'd, I think this conversation should be moved to the general support thread in anycase. I could use some fresh eyes on my freeze issue I've made posts in the 3.1 crash fix thread and in my own freeze thread here in the Skyrim Revisited forum. -

Nothing to do with DLCs, I have them all and I get CTD's with females on the 1.7 skeletons. Interesting to see Neo isn't getting this himself though, I wonder why that is. I am using some extras on top of baseline SR - several things from Iroha's thread. Maybe the common factor is there? I can't imagine what might interract with the skeleton in such a fashion though. Which thread the one on ASIS? I don't have anything besides SR enabled at the moment because I keep CTDing or freezing in the worldspace mainly areas like the wolf ambush near Riverwood. I have reason to believe it is not RAM related anymore as disabled the HighRes Texture packs and only use 2GB of RAM and ~1.5GB of VRAM. -

Ah I didn't go back far enough I looked two pages back. Still weird though. Ah well back to trying to solve my weird freeze issue. -

I thought I'd post here as it is an issue with the latest update to xp32 and SR I know one other person has had the problem. My thread (in which I'm still experiencing freezing regardless of texture mods) the last few posts describe the issue. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=2497&pid=36667#pid36667 The pre-release thread in which FCqt is also having the issue. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=1392&pid=36689#pid36689 -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
phazer11 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
It is most definitely the latest version of xp32 I reverted back to my 1.6d version and it no longer CTD's with females. Maybe the new one requires the DLCs it doesn't say it does but..? -

Hmm... you know itv may be the same issue I'm having I make a new game and CTD as soon as I interact with the bed for alternate start. You may want to try using a ale character if you're not already. For me it's just the females that CTD at that screen. My thread is here if you want to look at it. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=2497&pid=36667#pid36667 -
I did re-Run FNIS and I thought that the problem might have been caused by that as well but I have re-re-run FNIS and also re-run SUM. It does say there is a warning however it doesn't tell me what it is or where I can find the log. I did do a behavior consistence check and it passed so idk. I'm going to try taking FNIS out of the picture and use my old custom skeletons. No help. It does seem to be an FNIS/xp32 issue as I can go with a male character and no CTD it does freeze in about the same places as it was before the optimizations however, and I can still hear new sounds when it freezes (like birds probably a loop) etc.
-
Ok I optimized everything (per the DDSOpt guide) and now whenever I use the bed for alternate start (which had no problems before) I immediately CTD.

SKYRIMLE Automatic Variants (by Leviathan1753)

That's what I did but it 1. Took about a second 2. No size increase or decrease Edit: Wait a minute I made a spelling error on one of them let me retry it. -
SKYRIMLE Automatic Variants (by Leviathan1753)
phazer11 replied to Anosognos's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hence one of the reasons why I chose to buy two 240GB SSDs instead of the Skyrim DLC'sMost AV packs seem to be 2k but what I'm curious about is optimizing them. I've tried extracting them to folders and navigating to the textures but I don't think DDSOpt likes them being in so many folders or something as it doesn't seem to process them at all. -
The problem is the system RAM yes? My VRAM maxes out at ~2.5GB so I have `450MB just floating. I'm using texture mods with a max resolution of 2048x2048 already. I don't know what resolution the Automatic Variant Textures are or how to optimized them as I can see the textures in the folders but they are greyed out
-
So I should optimize my texture packs via DDSOpt?
-
I've removed FNIS and XPMS from the picture and used vanilla animation through the UNP installer plus custom skeleton 67 from skulltyrant. I am using AV and have no problems in towns it is outside of the towns. I can do anything within Riverwood or Whiterun itself but as soon as I leave Riverwood... I've also tried several areas near places alternate start allows you to start and have issues there as well but disabling AS doesn't help. I will try disabling AV though. I asked and have found a probable solution via the 3GB crash bug and will try to remedy that.
