I don't have time to lurk through every single post here so I'm just going to ask. Does anyone think this might be my problem as well? I notice I approach ~3GB of System RAM. Here is my problem. https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=2497

You can monitor your stats in game via Skyrim Performance Monitor which is compatible with Mod Organizer if you're using that. I'm currently using it now. (It has issues with ENB's though it's patch for the custom .dll's for ENB's is experimental)
-
Hmm... I'll try it out in a bit it if this fails. I'm doing another test at 1920x1080 (running Skyrim Performance Monitor which is set to load ModOrganizer so it can detect everything). Here's what Performance Monitor got before it CTD'ed So from what I can tell for whatever reason the gpu usage is dropping off a cliff before it CTD's Here's what it looks like after I disabled the CoT patch you asked me to try I got to the Standing Stones which is a bit further than the wolf ambush right outside of Riverwood (it ctd'ed when I went to the menu to try and save) Also here is the BOSS log after I removed that file. Just noticed it says UFO has dirty edits fixing and retrying. Edit: Fixed UFO's dirty edits (didn't help any). Removed UFO completely and I was able to load the alternate start campsite without freezing but as soon as I got to the wolves closest to Riverwood I CTD'ed BOSSlog May 16 2013 2.txt

Quite positive: it's all new hardware (not even a month old) I've run stability tests on it it's chewed up and spit out every benchmark and synthetic load test I've run on it and plays every other game fine. I've tested skyrim with and without the OC and it's doing it regardless. I know it's a mod as when I play it vanilla it runs fine. I'll post my current BOSS log in just a moment. Ok here it is. If you're still lost follow this section of the guide. Your end result should look something like...
-
Thanks root. As I stated before I'm still CTD'ing or freezing. (I consider the freezing worse as I have to log out completely or close to it every time it freezes. I've also tried taking the resolution down to 1366x768 and that didn't help. Also if I try to go to the alternate start camp via the statue of Mara I get an infinite load screen which makes me log out as well.

It doesn't matter which direction I go from I am often going from Riverwood. In fact I never go into Helgen at all (usually freezes around the guardian stones and I have to ctrl-alt delete and say sign-out as task manager is covered up by a black skyrim window) I may actually be using optimized vanilla bsa's let me check. You know what I'm going to just open up my archive of my vanilla install and use that. I'll test that idea out. Anyone else have any ideas? @statsmonster I'm using 1024 shadows (tweaked to look better but lower res) I'm also using 2048 textures at the most. I'm monitoring the VRAM usage using MSI Afterburner (it's never gone above 2.5GB) I'm currently playing at 1600x1900 though to be honest I'm not seeing much better performance (in the places it doesn't CTD or freeze that is) over 1920x1080. My System Specs are. ASUS G75VX Intel Core i7 3630QM Nvidia GTX 670MX (which is a little overclocked but completely stable) Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB SSD (OS and Skyrim) HSGT 1TB 5400rpm HDD (storage) Oh I forgot to mention I'm doing a clean (new game) save every time. OK well switching back to vanilla allowed me to get to the Alternate Start camp site (and is it me or does SkyTest always put between 6-10 wolves at that camp?)
-
I don't understand why but I keep CTD'ing between Riverwood and Helgen. I've tried uninstalling Alternate Start and SoS performing a SUM patch at each step and several other things like checking my patches. My BOSS log is attached. I'll also freeze on load screens around these areas some times. I had it working at one point but... *sigh*Â I don't have Dawnguard or Hearthfires or Dragonborn so I did not perform those edits or install those mod that required those DLC's. I've also stuck with the old version of AV as the new one gets an error (I've posted on Levi's page) Also it doesn't make a difference if I have Drinking Fountains of Skyrim and it's RND patch disabled, deleted or uninstalled. Mod Suggestions for SR - Post in STEP Mods Forum
phazer11 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
You know it's funny I was trying to get SoS to work three days ago but realized I'd need to edit the files and yesterday Neo posts the edits lol. Half the mods on Sound Propagation Overhaul's known conflict list include mods from Skyrim Revisited. Which is a pity as it really does make the sounds seem more real to me. Either way I'm here to post a suggestion, it would require a modification (at the least) of Realistic Lighting Overhaul. I like RLO's little touches like the light from windows (From the inside) reflecting off object outside of the building and some of the lantern and most of the exterior stuff from RLO I don't like the interiors as much. I feel that Enhanced Lighting and FX does more justice to the interiors (and judging by the number of endorsements and downloads for each I'd say a fair number of people agree) Also I noticed when I updated one of Arthmoor's mods either Alternate Start or Run for your Lives that he said he was using a newer version of TES5Edit than I could find anywhere (I imagine he's on the team for it) anyways does this mean we'll have to remake our patches when the new one comes out? -
Ok I fixed the main menu I updated my SUM (which seemed to be out of date according to the archive I found in my mods folder) and am now able to get to the character creation menu (from alternate start). Do I need to keep FNIS in my load order anymore? Having those extra spells and all is annoying. Also what is the best alternative to Deadly Dragons (it requires Dawnguard) I seem to recall Mighty Dragons being about the same.
-
I will try that however I did a fresh install of the game before following the guide. Edit: Nope that wasn't the problem the integrity check passed except for the update which I will replace and vanilla loaded just fine through steam launcher.
-
I've never seen it before either and am quite lost as to how to fix it. It did after all take a fairly long time to get everything edited (very carefully) as you no doubt know from all the back in forth... I'm about to submit my BOSS log and a 7zip archive of screenshots. Anyways I went back through the edits two times (line by line with the editor open here and my tablet to read the instructions) before even attempting to start a new game. Here is the archive containing my BOSSlog and screenshots of my ModOrganizer Installation as well as the main menu (as well as me accessing the one available: new game) and the weird empty HUD I see when I start new game. https://www.mediafire.com/?x56b7dc8syfwl5b

Alright so I've been in contact with Neovalen and he's been helping me (alot) and is probably quite tired of my questions. I'm playing Skyrim completely vanilla no DLC's (I had to choose between buying three SSDs for a shoot me dead low price and upgrading my laptop (which is what has the most VRAM now sadly) or buying the DLC's. Anyways I've followed the guide except for the dawnguard or Dragonborn TESVEdits. I've finished everything per the guide and made a bashed patch. When I go to the main menu the menu options are there and usable but the skyrim emblem is not there let alone spinning (I"ve tried disabling all f the load screen and main menu mods which didn't help. The navigation through the menu is also messed up. When I go to start a new game I get a black screen with the compass health and stamina bars and nothing else. Elys works I'm able to alt-f4 out. Also I figure the menu navigation is caused by Elys how do I reset the navigation buttons back to default instead of e for enter and w and s for up and down?

When is the best time to install mods?
phazer11 replied to phazer11's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You obviously didn't read my post. For whatever reason Wyre Bash does not properly save my changes when it places the Winter is Coming .esp's into the Skyrim directory eve after checking the tick marks again hitting install or uninstall and using anneal. I mark the main file only so that it both places and lets you craft the items. Then there is the patch which comes with it's own .esp's. BOSS improperly marks the esp's and does not include the main file in it's notification. Either way I'm still working on this, I could make a custom archive but meh. If someone could post a list of the mods that could cause problems during the Helgen intro it would be helpful. Mainly the ones that edit scripts and such I would think such as birds of skyrim etc. -
When is the best time to install mods?
phazer11 replied to phazer11's question in General Skyrim LE Support
UH... RAM usage is ~2.2-2.5GB for System Memory before it CTD's. With my browser open to allow me to view mods tabs in between attempts plus the OS it comes out to a total of ~5.6GB out of 8GB so ~75% of total. -
Hello everybody, as the title suggests I'd like to know the best time to install mods. I know when not to continue with a save that has had mods removed. However, I usually use the default Helgen intro sequence to check any mods I install. This latest playthrough I've been using STEP v2.2.5 and a few extra mods but have been CTD either when Alduin lands on the wall above you (halfway through the sprint to the keep) or a few seconds thereafter. If I do manage to get past that without a CTD it will either CTD the second I touch the door to the keep or right after Alduin passes over the mouth of the cave (as it is marking the helgen quest completed and switching to the new one I believe). I got S.T.E.P installed (around 200 mods core and optional mostly the 2048 textures and a few 1024 where the only other option were 4096 textures like Whiterun Trellis) and I believe everything worked ok. It was the extra immersion mods I added that seemed to be the problem. I have Frostfall, Realistic Needs and Diseases, Winterhold - Expanded Ruins, some body and custom skeleton mods (these aren't the problem) along with Drinking fountains of Skyrim, Immersive Armors, Winter is Coming, Cloaks of Skyrim, Ultimate Follower Overhaul, Move it Dammit (and UFO Patch) and I replaced Female Vampires have fangs with Realistic Teeth by Brumbek. I'm also using Automatic Variants (with Bellyache's and Slof's AV packs) instead of Bellyache's alone. For all of the core S.T.E.P mods (and the new mods) that had compatibility patches for one another I installed those, ordered with BOSS and then I use SUM to make a merged patch for Automatic Variants and Dual Sheath Redux. Finally I check the order with BOSS again and rebuild the Bashed Patch which merges all of the changes to the leveled lists and that seems to be about it. I've searched for some answers around here and on the Nexus forums and haven't come up with much. The general consensus seems to be don't install mods until after the Helgen sequence as the whole sequence's scripting is buggy as hell (even with USKP). Also Winter is Coming does not seem to work right when installed through Wrye Bash (since it add all five esp's and BOSS doesn't seem to mark them right) so I install through NMM (might be a problem but I was having the same issues when using Wrye Bash) and tell it to add the Cloaks of Skyrim patch. I've uninstalled individual mods and whole sets of them, not much seems to help maybe I'm making the patch wrong probably I'm new to WB) Or I'lll have to part with some immersio mods (which would be dissapointing as I really wanted a more immersive survivialistic explorative experience this time round. Also I'm not using any of Bethesda's DLC's besides the texture pack. I'm about to make yet another attempt at solving this on my own. If you need BOSS logs or what have you I'll post them. System Specs: ASUS G75VX ROG Laptop Intel Core i7 3630QM Nvidia GTX 470MX 3GB VRAM (Of which I'm only using 2.2GB max even when it CTDs) Corsair Neutron GTX 240 GB SSD with Windows 8 Core 64-Bit (Skyrim and mods are installed here) HGST 1TB 5400 RPM HDD 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM

Having WB use MO's mod directory
phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yeah it was just a typo I wrote that last one on my tablet for some reason the auto-correct turned on and thought it was a good idea to make it bashi lol. Both do seem to run normally when run individually... Of course I have problems with WB so it may not be running "perfectly" but MO seems to be. I actually got WB to run but BOSS is a no go an WB isn't making the bashed patch properly I think. -

Still no luck... Should I make a new thread? -
Having WB use MO's mod directory
phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
No luck. Tried that with all three Wrye Bash, BOSS, and Mod Organizer seperately and combined all BOSS and Wrye Bash do is make the 'Mod Organizer is locked while executable is running' dialog come up for about 15-20 seconds in which time a cmd pops up for between 1-2 seconds. I did close out of everything even tried compatibility mode. I may not of mentioned I'm using Windows 7 Professional x86_64 -
Having WB use MO's mod directory
phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yes I am. I've done several things. I've completely uninstalled Skyrim, Steam, Wrye Bash, Mod Organizer, Nexus Mod Manager, BOSS, and removed all registry entries to aforementioned programs. I've posted both my screenshots of my Mod Organizer Settings Tabs and main screen, as well as posted my Wrye Bash bash.ini and said where everything was installed or showed through the screenshots. The posts and links can be found here and here those should contain most of what you need to know everything else is on the last half of the second and the third page of this thread. -

phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Ok Just reinstalled Mod Organizer, BOSS, and Wrye Bash again I installed Bash last and installed both versions which I've only done once before. Here are my Mod Organizer Settings, they are blank so maybe that'll help? https://s451.photobucket.com/albums/qq233/animer/Mod%20Organizer/ -
Having WB use MO's mod directory
phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well not run it in the sense that I got to the main menu but I did get to the launcher and let it recreate the .ini files in My Games under My Documents which allowed Wyre Bash to detect the Skyrim install. -
Having WB use MO's mod directory
phazer11 replied to electricgeneral's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yes, to all three. I even double checked the registry before re-installing. Though Mod Organizer may not have completely been done as there was no uninstaller I did not see anything that looked to belong to it.
