  1. Thanks for putting in mod suggestions. I play a mage as well (currently high 30s) and my concern with this based on the nexus is that it also alters gameplay in that in provides a mage with heavy armor protection with no downside as the items are not 'armor' therefore the penalties for wearing armor are not triggered. Also does this then stack with armor spells (eg stone/ebony flesh)? such that a mage gets ridiculous defence? Even the author states it is likely overpowered. The heavy armor version is likely ok as then should still have vanilla gameplay and presumably using vanilla daedric stats
  2. Haven't tested yet as have not played skyrom last couple of days, but per author on nexus comments thread: as I have no real idea how the skyrim engine works I cannot offer a view on whether I agree it is risk-free.
  3. ahh that's better! I have GTX 570 1280MB VRAM so using optimized + 2048. Also generally 1024 for all mods. If I'd known the importance of VRAM when I bought the card late last year I would have tried to find one with more VRAM, but I don't recall them being common in my local stores (Australia). EDIT: actually they still aren't!!! at least not Nvidia cards, none except the top end eg GTX 680
  4. Discussion thread: Unique Region Names by Thingy Person Wiki Link Haven't seen this mod mentioned anywhere in STEP and seems to be line with STEP aims of immersion. It is in the hot files on nexus. Mod is called Unique Region Names and per mod description: Per its comments thread apparently no impact on save games when uninstall. Also may be some gaps in hold boundaries etc which author says he will fix. Also some comments pointed out that not using the hold names but instead the capital names. Have not tested as at work but seems worthwhile. Accepted for STEP v2.2.5 --Thanks to Kelmych for creating the mod Page
  5. frihyland posted by accident in another thread and so responding here...
  6. Until today the forums on the main page were showing as having new content when they didnt. This generally corrected itself later, eg say 30 minutes. This was still happening yesterday but works fine today.
  7. re 2 I did see that mentioned on one nexus thread (cannot remember which one). I have also updated/swapped a fair few mods around and changed over from RWT to WATER. So far no issues and no missing textures (touch wood!) so will see how it goes. This also includes using PISE (all options from a version a couple of months ago) and Deadly Dragons and turning them off. I have also tinkered around with Balanced Magic on and off (normally on) and when it was off no obvious issues. as an aside - the traps part of deadly traps and diseases may be bugged as when I trigger say an arrow trap I keep losing health even if I am half a dungeon away and seemingly no way to stop it (although it would help in levelling restoration if it would stop!). So have now removed that mod.
  8. Try not to use the Skyrim Launcher to tweak your settings as it resets them when you press certain buttons (and even when you open it) and so makes testing pretty hard, unless your testing default High v Ultra settings.
  9. Agreed very good info and Immersive Environment looks pretty good (along with RCRN and RLWC). What is missing is a dungeon test, as while sunlight isn't relevant in there, being too dark is a pain!
  10. In regards to repacking archives into BAINs and adding "BAIN" to the end of the file name - this actually results in Wyre not being able to open the mod on any site (ie right click package, Open at... nexus) as it uses the numbers at the end of the file name to work out which webpage to go to. Therefore, I would suggest this is not a good idea. Personally I wont do it as if it is BAIN then it will have subpackages anyway (well if it is complex, if it is simple then doesn't really matter).
  11. But dont we need to install SVN version now so that works with BOSS 2.0. Which then requires deleting oblivion stuff? Should a section be added to the guide for configuring SVN version as I expect SVN may be needed again in future! I have no idea if this is a few lines or much longer :) Perhaps as a seperate wiki page so as not to complicate main page Just installed standalone python and then SVN version last night. Tonight will try to actually use it on some test mods with a view to switching over from MO with new STEP. As an aside that likely belongs in the other topic on the ini file - In terms of bash.ini and changing /oblivion to /skyrim is there only about 2 or 3 of these? The rest seemed to be for paths to oblivion tools that I had not heard of so I left those as \oblivion
  12. oops yes you can (should have checked before posted) but SRO wiki page is not linked from elsewhere on wiki (unless I missed the link)
  13. Can the main wiki page be updated with links to the various pages, eg Wyre guide, Skyrim Overhaul discussion, etc?
  14. yes multi button works and text appears under quick reply box, although it is light blue on a light grey background so cant catually read it unless I highlight it. No checkbox to ignore error message. Guess I'll just sart using firefox at work (have it installed but dont use it as most of our work applications dont work properly in firefox).
  15. Does it work properly with the Unofficial Patch, as I understand that cleaned up various quest text. As this loads after it shoudl override the patch, but just thought I would ask
  16. Reads very well and covers off the main points. Handy having all the links to various utilities etc at the bottom. Well done
  17. still getting same errors, although the debugger is playing up atm
  18. Ok worked out that it is F12 to debug and on Script tab after debugging (may not be complete debug) it found these 2 errors. I tried pasting in all the script code but it crashed IE as over 6000 lines. Couldn't copy text so am pasting in link to images of errors and lines and surrounding lines https://img207.imageshack.us/img207/5561/capturepx.png https://img192.imageshack.us/img192/7296/1822o.png https://img824.imageshack.us/img824/428/5574.png
  19. I had a typo and linked to an older version of jquery which is known to cause such errors in IE8. I fixed the version that is loaded, so let me know if you still experience it. You may need to clear out your cache as well. Still getting it on work pc, deleted temporary files (but not cookies) yesterday and forced refresh of page. Still happening today after a reboot
  20. @whistlerxp: accirding to post in MO nexus thread:
  21. Every time I close a forum tab or change pages (eg changes pages in a forum topic) I am getting the following pop-up box: Message from webpage - Stack overlfow at line: 1822 Happening on work PC which runs IE8 version 8.0.760.1.17514
  22. As per other threads cards in SLI still only have 1 card's memory ie 1280, not 2560, as the vram contents are duplicated between the cards. Therefore use the lite/mid versions of the texture mods especially Skyrim HD and Vurts. You could also try dropping AA to 2x and see what it looks like in game to gain some FPS. Personally I cannot see much difference between 2x and 4x unless I am standing still starring at say a diagonal roof line. I run at 1900x1200 on a 24 inch screen
  23. I use RL and found I could turn my AA down to 2x, turning it off still left jaggies, but 2x smoothed them out such that I could only see them in a few places when standing still and looking closely (24" screen aat 1920x1200)
