First, follow the Fallout Quickstart Guide on the DDSopt Guide, provided by STEP user Kelmych, for vanilla texture optimization.
OK so I follow the link, scroll right down to the bottom and click "Vanilla Fallout and Fallout Mod Texture Optimization", then follow the intrsuctions to optimize the vanilla textures.
But then do I go on to the next section quoted below or do I continue following the guide on that page with the next section "Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 Mods and Optimization"? The quote above says to only follow along for the optimization of the vanilla textures, so should I stop there and move on to the next step (the link quoted below)?
Second, follow the instructions for the F&L Texture Optimization. This will provide the process for optimizing a set of mods for performance reasons.
