I am trying to get Danthegeek's Underground Hideout to work with Fear and Loathing in New Vegas. Using Mod Organizer, I have tried installing using the zip file via Bain and by not using Bain. I have also tried to install using the FOMOD version of UHNV. No matter which method I use, if I activate the OWB esp, the game never starts, Mod Organizer locks up like it normally does when starting New Vegas, but the game never actually starts. If I disable the OWB plugin from UHNV then everything works fine. I have tried moving the plugin around to various locations, but without any luck. MO does not show any conflicts for the UHNV mod.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ronnie

When you install it MO should offer to use the BAIN method, when it does say "NO" and use the manual method instead.

In the dialog that now appears there should be the mod outlined with all the folders it is packaged with and the teaxt in RED saying: "no top level data"

Now assuming you have all the DLC necessary to play, expand each folder under the folder labelled 'Core' and drag each *.esp & *.bsa into that 'Core' folder. You should end up with 'Core' containing all the files and possibly the readme.txt if you want it.

Right-click on 'Core' and "Set data directory" and install the mod.

From here you can open the 'Information' window and move any plugins into the 'Optional' section or just use them all.

Activate all the plugins ensuring they are in the correct order and the game should just play.

I just now grabbed it and installed and it works fine.

Thanks for responding Dragonborn. The method you described was my original non BAIN method that I tried. I went back and followed the steps again, but no luck.

Stupid thing is, I had it working before, but I got greedy and tried to merge the UHNV plugins so I could add a few more mods. When I did it jacked up my MO profile and now I can't remember the steps I took before. The problem is definitely with the OWB plugin as I can either disable that plugin or put it as optional and the game loads fine.

Anyway, I really appreciate your help.

The OWB plugin only requires the UHNV plugin and Old World Blues & FalloutNV to run so unless you have it loading before UHNV or you don't have Old World Blues, I don't see why that plugin would mess things up for you.

Unless you have an existing bashed patch that is referencing these plugins and there is a mismatch in the load order with that patch.

You will need to eliminate plugins out of the load order to make sure of what is going on.

If you are installing this over an already started game there may be problems with stuff baked into the save game so try and see what, if anything, is missing or extra in the save you are trying. On the other hand if this is a new game, and it should be, if you run LOOT or otherwise order your plugins correctly it should just work. ::D:

Thanks again for your help. I went back through disabling plugins until I got it qorking. The problem now seems to be with the Flashlight NVSE mod, which I fwel I can do without. It is aggravating that I had it qorking before though.

A couple of quick follow up questions if I may. When there is an immediate CTD like that is it most likely an esp conflict? If so, would following instructions to merge mods with conflicts be the best way to fix? Is there a particular video or tutorial tou recommend for merging plugins?

Again, thank you so much for helping me. I appreciate it tremendously.

Immediate CTD's at loading screen nearly always suggest a missing master. Those often show them selves if you run your entire load order through something like FNVEdit or LOOT, or even just look for the missing master sign in MO.
