Question

Hey, I'm pretty new to intense Skyrim modding and I just went through the entire STEP guide, choosing to use STEP Extended and STEP Immersive Survival Pack. I threw in some armor and weapon mods (Full list in below mod order, includes Immersive Armors but not Immersive Weapons) then RCRN, and called it good. The issue wasn't apparent at first, but soon I noticed some objects load with black textures, blue textures, and most recently being invisible completely. (Some NPCs were floating heads and hands) There appears to be *no specific items* affected by this issue, sometimes random world objects will have the problem, sometimes not. Sometimes my character's skin turns black, sometimes not. Relaunching the game will temporarily fix the issue, but once I've fast traveled a couple of times, it returns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like it should be reiterated separately: There is no specific set of objects affected by my issue, and I've only seen it affect the same object repeatedly a couple of times.

System Specs:

i5 3570k

8gb DDR3 1600

Gigabyte GTX 660 2GB (OC model)

I know this thread died long ago, but I figured I might as well post that I think I solved the mystery when sitting back down to play some Skyrim today.

Turns out I'm an idiot and improperly installed RCRN with MO, a mistake I rectified.

In the process, I undid STEP's setup of the enblocal.ini. Oops.

With both problems fixed, Skyrim has so far run like a dream with no problems thusfar.

However, I accidentally BOSS'd my "Improved Close-Faced Helmets_Legendary.esp" (from Weapons and Armor Fixes) out of load order and can't seem to figure out where it goes. STEP 2.2.8 (version I'm on, haven't updated yet) probably explains where to put it, but I can't figure it out after looking back through the instructions. I'm probably just blind.

No, I was considering doing it once I started having problems, but was afraid it would exacerbate the current issues or cause new ones.

You could then optimize your textures. We have a DDSopt guide on our wiki with a lot of bat files to make the process a lot less hard. Optimizing can help, but takes quite a bit of time.

But, first let's try something else. Your load order is disaster and I'm guessing you are using LOOT instead of BOSS? Go back to BOSS and if BOSS doesn't sort some of your mods, then we have directions for where to sort those on the guide or mod pages.

Also, saw this on the load order: Note: Incompatible with: Hearthfires.esm. Use either BirdsHF.esp or BirdsHFclean.esp.

Okay, done. I ran boss and switched over to the Hearthfire compatible Birds and Flocks mod. Here's a copy of my BOSSlog.html:

https://puu.sh/9J2He/923f69d667.html

Edit: Just ran Skyrim, issue still persists.

Also thought it might be worth mentioning: I implemented the Skyrim memory patch I found here:

Using the 768 and 512 .dll he provided.

I also made some adjustments to my Skyrim.ini when Frostfall was giving me trouble. I got an error something along the lines of "Your game's scripting system is running too slowly in order for Frostfall to run correctly." when field dressing animals and skinning their pelts. Also occasionally when I disposed of them. I referenced their troubleshooting guide here:

It only shows 26 mods. What happen to that monster of a list you had? You have to add BOSS GUI.exe as an executable to run it with MO from the dropdown. Otherwise you can't sort everything at once.

Okay, I moved all of the mods as instructed, then went to Rebuild the bashed patch. However, this popped up when I did so:https://puu.sh/9J9jE/a7800c7dd6.pngAny idea what it means?

I can build the bashed patch with that plugin enabled. I would suggest restarting mo, rebooting Windows and/or reinstall mod. If that doesn't work do as EssArrBee said. Edited by dreadflopp

See that's the thing, it was working fine until just now. Regardless, I'll do what you guys recommend. As far as problems, they're still occurring. Impending edit with more details, but ideas in the meantime would be appreciated. (I disabled Immersive Armors and rebuilt the patch to test in the meantime.)

Edit: I thought it might just be the Dawnstar White Hall (because when it broke, certain things in there kept breaking), but it's just as flakey with what things break and when.

Black, purple, invisible etc. all means that you have a bad install of some textures and/or models somewhere. No amount of load ordering will fix this.

If it is only weapons and armor then it is normally quite easy to isolate the mods responsible and then reinstall them.

The reason for it is that sometimes then installation just fails for a single file and it will effectively be a 0kb file.. which obviously have no content.

It isn't only weapons and armor, it's been anything you can think of, from mounted heads on the wall to grass outside riverwood. It's especially confusing because the textures don't break every time.

Edit:

I can most easily reproduce the issue by visiting the White Hall in Dawnstar so here are some screenshots.

Everything's fine:

Everything's definitely not fine:

If it is not persistent then it would mean a memory issue since if there is not enough memory to load in all the textures it will happen at random. But with your hardware that would just be weird.... Assuming you got Enboost etc. going.
