TechAngel85 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Discussion thread:EWI's Galaxy for Skyrim by ewi65Wiki Link This mod replaces the galaxy in the Skyrim night skies. It's a "purely fantasy" replacer; however, it's also absolutely beautiful! Here are some comparison shots between vanilla and the "brightness reduced" version of this mod: Vanilla Skyrim >> EWI's Galaxy for Skyrim
redirishlord Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Very nice, and with two moons to keep me company I don't miss the Milky Way at all.
DoYouEvenModBro Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 (edited) I like this. Edited June 3, 2014 by DoYouEvenModBro
rootsrat Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Hm... Not convinced. It looks too much Sci-Fi rather than fantasy.
DocClox Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I think it looks very nice. The only problem I have is the one I have a lot of these things: I've never really looked at the sky in-game and thought "that doesn't look very realistic". Just to be clear: I've never thought that about sky outside the game either. But you know what I mean...
DoYouEvenModBro Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I still prefer Lorkhans Vision - Night Sky V2 though https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48643/?
TechAngel85 Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Hm... Not convinced. It looks too much Sci-Fi rather than fantasy. Fine line here, my friend. It's hard to read sci-fi into something that has nothing to do with technology. An award winning novelist put it like this, "Half joking, I was writing to Ben about this very subject, and I said, look, fantasy has trees, and science fiction has rivets. That's it, that's all the difference there is..."
rootsrat Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I know what you mean. But these nebulas look... Just look like they belong in a space game rather than fantasy game. I can't explain it any better :)

The author states on his page that it is, "pure fantasy...not for everyone"
DocClox Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Well, it's not suppose to. The author states on his page that it is, "pure fantasy...not for everyone"Sure. I'm not saying it's bad. Just throwing my opinion in for what little it may be worth. Although if opinions are going to be divided, maybe it would be better in a pack rather than STEP proper.
TechAngel85 Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Oh, it's not going into STEP. It IS going into my personal profile though!
Aiyen Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Main issue I have with nebulae type galaxies are that they never really fit in. They always look plastered onto the sky and their scale and amount of detail just do not fit relative to everything else. It is a hard thing to do well, since on one side you want the fine structure to help define the nebulae.. on the other you need to remove it to actually make it look like it belongs. This is one of the nicer ones I have seen though... but still prefer galaxy night skies rather then nebulae ones.
