Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - DynDOLOD

Finally I can see my house from here

For latest information and instructions see the DynDOLOD 2.18 UPDATE POST

What is this?

DynDOLOD is a set of tools based on TES5Edit and TES5LODGen to automatically create a Skyrim mod based on the load order which adds distant LOD for objects to Skyrim. By combining DynDOLOD with TES5LODGen users can create drastically enhanced traditional static LOD plus tree LOD and the new, optional dynamic distant object LOD in a few 'simple' steps.

DynDOLOD is meant for enthusiast modders who are familiar with using TES5Edit. Enthusiast modders have a general knowledge of computers, folders and files, especially Skyrims 'Data' folders and how to install mods safely with a manager or manually.

To fully expand the visual experience and use the additional features offered by TES5LODGen the DynDOLOD package comes with over 1000 new or updated LOD models for objects that were badly missing from the original game like the Skyhaven Temple or landscape features like roads, smaller rocks and dirt cliffs that simply make the distant landscape look much more natural and alive.

What does it do?

It makes Skyrim look like this

Look at my topic here https://forum.step-project.com/topic/9131-most-saves-get-corrupted-constantly-losing-progress/

I had the exact same problem. All save games get corrupted and cost me hours of progress. I uninstalled a bunch of script-heavy mods, including DynDOLOD and everything is fine now. Looking at your post, maybe the culprit was DynDOLOD amongst those mods I uninstalled.

DynDOLOD is neither a script heavy mod nor does it corrupt saves.

For the next DynDLOD version I will add a couple rules for things like the light posts.

In the meantime test this papyrus script patch for DynDOLOD and Immersive Content - Realitisc Outdoor Lights

To update go inside a house/interior then overwrite all DynDOLOD papyrus scripts and the one script from Immersive Content - Realitisc Outdoor Lights.

Now all LOD lights for ICROL should turn on/off a second or so after the lights in the loaded cells at the two times of day. If it doesn't work try with new game.

Will test as soon as possible. Working a crapload of overtime lately so may be a few days. :) Thanks!

I'd like to chime in on the corrupt saves issue. I too was having trouble with my saves. At some point I had entered Silverdrift lair, and every save after exiting it became corrupt. Disabling DynDOLOD did alleviate this problem.

I am not going to accuse sheson of breaking my game or anything, since it could have been any host issues that ultimately kept breaking my save--I run a heavily modded load order. I just wanted to say that removing DynDoLOD 1.45 fixed the issue.

I might as well use this to upgrade to 1.46. Maybe it'll solve the issue .

Hi there,

having a bit of an issue where Objects folder under  Meshes>Terrain>XXXX>Objects is always empty. When I log into the  game  I can see things like waterfalls and giant's fires in the distance, but the rest of the terrain still looks pretty bad.

I followed the gamerpoets video I and my load order is:

  1. Highrespack01
  2. Highrespack02
  3. HighRespack03
  4. UnofficialHighResPackPatch
  5. Vanilla LOD Billboards
  6. PapyrusUtil
  7. SkyUI
  8. SFO
  9. SFO Billbaords
  10. DynDOLOD
  11. DynDoLOD (Output)

Thanks for any help.

Sheson,

I think I might be having a similiar issue as Mebantiza.  I was playing through my save using Dyndolod 1.45. Everything working fine. About 7 hours of gameplay and heading to darkwater crossing. Then I saved the game and quit. I come back it and try to load the save. CTD as it looks like its about to load in game. I try it again. Same thing. I try a couple saves before. Same. I find a save back about 15 minutes of gameplay. Load it up and keep playing. Save the game in Darkwater crossing. Go to load it and CTD. I try to open the saves in save game cleaner and the program crashes.

I was recommended to use save game script scapel by flexcreator. I run that on my saves and no change. So I decided Ill go back and hour or two of gameplay. Play through and at the same area (after valtheim towers) I get the save issue. I try uninstalling dyndol lod and I am able to save again. Does this seem like a performance issue or a bad install on my part of Dyndolod? I really like the mod and want to continue to use it if possible. Just seems strange that it would start at a particular point in the game. I also tried loading a save game 3 or 4 hours back and went straight to the location (with dyndolod installed) and I was able to save.

Actually, our issues not remotely similar. At no point was Dyndolod causing instabilities or CTD or anything like that(for me anyhow). I do have a problem with something in my save preventing 1.46 from fully functioning, that is true enough, but that bears little relation to what you describe, or some others here saying Dyndolod is corrupting their saves.

Just to clear that part up....

Hi,

I just installed 1.46 on a relatively new game and had an odd occurrence.

Normally at some point after visiting the Graybeards you get confronted by two cultists from the Dragonborn DLC. They demand to know who you are, then attack you after a speech. (It is a scripted event)

This has happened in two recent games, no problem (both games had DynDOLOD 1.45 installed).

This time, shortly after installing 1.46, I was approaching a town (Shors Stone), and I heard fighting. Trotted up to the town, and the cultists were being killed by the guards-by the time I got there they were dead.

Now, this is probably just a vanilla bug. But I was just wondering if this was a by-product of that uGrids issue, where if you set your uGrids higher than vanilla, things happen before you actually get there, because you have triggered a cell too early.  I have never changed my uGrids. But doesn't DynDOLOD do something internally about uGrids during setup? Or is this just total coincidence?

I will go back to the pre-DynDOLOD installation point to see if it triggers normally (although again, could just be a random vanilla bug.) Just wanted to mention it in case anyone else experiences it.

I'm not jumping to conclusions. I'm saying that I uninstalled a few script heavy mods and DynDOLOD was amongst them. The mods I uninstalled was Unknown Enchants, Wonders of Weather, Footprints, Enhanced Blood Textures, Convenient Horses, Burn Freeze Shock Effects, Wet&Cold and DynDOLOD. I checked all of these mods' comments section for at least ten pages and nobody reported anything even remotely similar to my problem. I come here to check DynDOLOD's forum, and just in the last few pages I find two other people who are reporting corrupt saves. Make of that what you will.

LODGen.exe generate static LOD into that folder. Check TES5Edit\TES5Edit_log.txt for errors.

Edit: LOL I meant TES5Edit\LODGen_log.txt

Again, I suggest targeted trouble shooting. The underlying cause will most likely still be present.

DynDOLOD doesn't change uGridsToLoad.

:( ...

I forgot to do the update process when updating some mods and redoing the scripts in Tes5Edit.

I'm now getting "can not find master data in dyndolod_tamriel.json" periodically throughout my travels in Skyrim. Is my save forever destroyed? Is there a quick way of fixing this? I tried deactivating dyndolod in the MCM and it doesn't let me, lol

Help me, please!  ::(:

Can you watch closely for any other message top left before that?

Are you sure the esp and the generated json files match? You can always do the update cycle anyways, go inside interior, save, start game without esp, save, start game with new esp.

I have the text file here with a few "file not found lines", what should I do in order to make LODGen find these files because as far as I can tell there isn't a skyrim/data/meshes directory

Thanks for the help :)

I decided to upgrade DynDoLOD to 1.46, and played with it for a while. What happened is that almost every single save I made after I re-added DynDoLOD became corrupt.

Then I uninstalled, played again, some of the saves became corrupt, some of them did not. It's random. So it seems like DynDoLOD isn't the cause, though it does seem to make whatever the issue is even worse. My saves without DynDoLOD installed are about 21 megabytes, which, considering how many mods I am using, is not too much. So I don't think it's save bloat or any thing.

I've had this save corruption problem for a while now actually. I already lost two of my more invested characters to this issue already.

The files that are reporting missing are part of DynDOLODs archive data folder. Install that again.

If using MO do not close TES5Edit until LODGen.exe completed.

Any other mods or plugins you updated in the meantime?

INI changes maybe?

Which PapyrusUtil (skse/plugins/storageutil.dll) version are you using? 3.1 Fixed a bug causing CTD during save load for some users.

We know 2.8 was stables over months. 3.0 was only short lived.

Do you have NetImmers Override (skse/plugins/nioverride.dll) - it is also included in Racemenu - installed and have you generated with any glow LOD?

Version 3.4.4 Fixed string erasure bug causing co-saves to lose data

Version 3.4.3 Fixed rare case where if a string could not be mapped to the string table at save time it would corrupt the save

If you enable papyrus logging are there any stack dumps in Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Logs\Script\Papyrus.0.log?

The message I previously posted repeats itself twice, das about it.

I tried the update cycle anyways but I still get the same message. I know the install is A-OK, as when trying an absolutely new game, everything works smoothly.

>: Guess I'll just have to start a new game anyway. I appreciate your support, man.

With Frostfall 3.0 dropping though, guess there's a excuse for starting fresh anyway.
