frihyland Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 AHC Mod Compiler is a pretty slick little app that will repackage and rename all of your mods for you. I have recently created a full STEP 2.1.1b xml template that will make installing it a lot closer to the 2 click panacea that many dream of. I am currently testing it and when confirmed working will upload and link from here. Sound to good to be true, thats because it is! But in a best case scenario you only have to download all step mods, run AHC on those mods (several hour process, just start it and come back later), and then use Wrye Bash to install all mods at once (another slow process but less than an hour). Now configure skyrim and play, note that you will still have to do the reading if you want to customize step at all but the standard install could be easier than making popcorn! Stay tuned more to come.
Thechosenone Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 can this add files aswell? if so frihyland you are free to use all my wizard scripts for your repackaging purposes.
frihyland Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 It can indeed and we will, thank you. Do you have them all available on dropbox? If not make an account using our code (gives us more space) and post them there please.
z929669 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I'll also upload the BCFs I am making for all STEP mods now and going forward. Take'em or leave'em. ;) will advise when available.
elbe Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 0.8.5b has been released. My current proposed solution is to have an easily distributed archive that contains all the wizard scripts. The AHC would then take the scripts from within, rename them to wizard.txt, and repackage them in a consistent naming convention. Improvements can always be made with user feedback.
Spiffyman Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 So... this makes STEP really easy to install? Just download the mods, run this, wait a few hours, let it install and it's all done and set up? Does this use Bash's installer function so it can keep track of what files belong to what archive?
elbe Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 It repackages the mods as BAIN compatible, if possible, with friendlier archive names. You'll still need to use WB to install them (or NMM), but it allows you to skip all the "Compiler's advice" sections as those are done automatically. I'm working to make it as useful and simple as possible, but the occasional mod throws a monkey wrench at me.
Staind716 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 This sounds like it could be very convenient. Keep up the good work! :)
frihyland Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Is there any assistance needed for this? We'll need testers for the next beta release. Probably this weekend.
TheInstaller Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Is there any assistance needed for this? We'll need testers for the next beta release. Probably this weekend. Which weekend? I wouldn't be able to try it out tonight (Sunday) but could probably have feedback by 3am EST on the 11th or 12th. Just point me at the template.
frihyland Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 I've been waiting for either an import from csv function (preferred) or an update to the editor, so I don't have to edit the xml in Notepad++ and possibly break it wasting hours of work. Looks like it may be another week, I'll use the time to work on the new version of STEP.
elbe Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I'm slacking, aren't I? I probably should have actually worked on it today, but for some reason I was in the mood to kill some dragons. Heh. The instruction set I'm working with now is frihyland's 2.1.2 set and I didn't really want to give that out since that version hasn't been released yet (and it has some errors I need to fix). It's a minor thing but it made me unsure about doing actual public tests with it. I certainly try to work it into my schedule this week. Hopefully I should have an updated editor system out soon-ish. Oh, and I asked a question about the csv import in the dev thread.

Oh, and I asked a question about the csv import in the dev thread. It's not actually 2.1.2 (still 2.1.1b) yet as I ran into those errors before I had a chance to really get into upgrading it to the next version. So you can include it in any new beta release you do (but you or I should fix the out of order stuff and any other problems you've found first.)
elbe Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Ok. I'll clean it up as I work on the editor this week and, with any luck, release a new version before the weekend.
