Spiffyman Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I have heard great things about this mod. It's part of Realistic Lighting with Customization, but you could install it without the rest of the mod I would think. (see this video, starting at the 2:00 minute mark )Perhaps you could consider using this? I recently saw a video for RCRN v3, so I'll be using that when it's released, but I think the rain from this mod might be worth using.
frihyland Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It was in the last version of STEP and hotfixed out because of a conflict with rlwc, no reason not to put it back in now.
Neovalen Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It was in the last version of STEP and hotfixed out because of a conflict with rlwc' date=' no reason not to put it back in now.[/quote']Not true, read the comment thread on the nexus . There is a script bug that causes massive savegame bloat. It is actually being removed from rlwc and replaced in 4.0 due to this. (The author has also gone missing)
frihyland Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Awe that's too bad, best rain mod by far. I'm learning papyrus so one of these days I'll able to solve these kinds of issues.
Spiffyman Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 huh... That's not something I wanted to hear. :( savegame bloat isn't really worth fantastic rain sadly. Just curious but why would rain have a script anyway?
Neovalen Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Awe that's too bad, best rain mod by far. I'm learning papyrus so one of these days I'll able to solve these kinds of issues. Unfortunately the scripts included are compiled (no source supplied by the author). So it wouldn't matter in this case sadly. :(
Vond Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 The reason it causes bloat is because of an issue that causes constant drizzle (almost unnoticeable) even indoors etc. RLwC was considering just removing the scripts/esp and keeping the textures and sounds since those are still better than vanilla. Personally I've followed that example and use the textures+sounds together with More Rain.
Spiffyman Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 Vond: one thing I was worried about with Natural Rain is that it might hurt my fps (same with More Rain as well). However, if I use the Reduced view distance of More Rain, would that mean I wouldn't lose much fps? This is all theoretical since I haven't actually played to see either mods' rain so I don't know if they'd hurt my performance or not, it just seems like it would.... If so, that might be a very cool combination for me. :)
Vond Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Yeah I haven't noticed any fpsdrop with More Rain (or More Snow by same author). I use the 66% less view distance when raining option, as I feel it's more immersive aswell on top of helping performance. :)
