Question

Posted

Figured it might not be a bad idea to just start a general SR support thread for help since the feedback thread is focused on actual SR feedback. I'll start this off.

So was playing earlier today, then went and made today's latest changes:

- Updated Lanterns of Skyrim to use Realistic Lighting Overhaul optional preset.

- Added SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators. Removed More Village Animals and Roosters At Dawn

- Updated Apahii Skyhair Natural Retexture.

I also added Grass on Steroids and it's associated INI changes.

I now CTD every time on the menu load. I reversed the INI changes, unloaded SkyTest and Grass on Steroids and still CTD.

What would be the first steps I should in debugging this?

Thanks!

One of the benefits of making your own Conflict patch is that you will learn a lot about the tools necessary to maintain a stable game as mods get updated.

I found the original SR to be a great education.

Hi Neo,

In the DDSopt settings for Realistic Water Two Experimental Textures for ENB, when u say to "Disable Compression - Resize Only. Uncheck both options under [Apply]", u mean (apart from the 2 settings under Apply) to also make Compression -> 0 (off) instead of 10 (maximum)?

Thanks!

The compression your talking about is BSA compression.

The settings under the apply menu should both be unchecked which disables texture compression.

Hi!

Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS , on guide says to get Version: 4.0 beta3 (Optional File Only), but there isn't this optional anymore on nexus, should I get the 4.0.2 Always Necessary? or?

thanks!

I can't speak for Neovalen's intentions but you will almost surely not run into issues with FNIS 4.0.2. At least I haven't, and I've tried it with quite a few different behaviours.

Hello again!

i'm on SOS - Civilization part of the guide

"Open TES5Edit.

Select Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp and SoS - Civilization.esp with associated patches then click [OK].

Expand "Cell">"Block 0">"Sub-Block 1" under SoS - Civilization.esp and select the "000580A2" node.

Drag the "Directional Ambient","Inherits","XLCN - Location", and "XCMO - Music Type" records from Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp to SoS - Civilization-PatchRLOMajorCityInteriors.esp."

I open TS5EDIT and it got me error:

I'm literally at my wit's end here. I for some reason just can't get custom animations to work, no matter what I try.

I've followed Neo's guide to the letter, and everything else works perfectly, with the exception of animations, which despite being properly installed simply don't play ingame. Here's what I've tried so far:

- A complete reinstallation of the game and the guide, making sure to follow each instruction in the order it's given.

- Bypassing MO and simply installing the animation part of the guide directly into the skyrim folder

- Playing the animations directly through the console ingame

In each of these scenarios the result was the same; everything else worked perfectly, down to the female skeleton and Dual Sheath Redux weapon/shield positioning, but only the default animations would play, both on my own character as well as all NPCs.

I'm not even sure what to try next, a little help anyone?

If it's any help, here's a link to the FNIS log: https://textuploader.com/denb

I see that some of the texture mods in SR:LE are now ENB-required so that raised a few questions about how to get the minimum support required from the ENB itself to still see these effects.

When I apply the ENB with everything on, I get unacceptable heat and therefore case fan noise from my single 7950. If I turn off all the individual flags in the EFFECT block the ENB still provides the main colour changes but is still causing enough extra work to run the fans. I would assume that disabling the individual EFFECT settings would still be enough to see the ENB-specific parallax effects in the texture mods?

I was then thinking about what happens with the GLOBAL UseEffect set to false. I know this disables all the ENB post-processing but I don't know if it still keeps the colour changes and whether it would still allow the parallax effect in the texture mods.

Could one of you basically answer "How low can I go?" in the ENBseries.ini before those parallax effects are disabled and whether having UseEffect set to false means the ENB is doing anything at all apart from the memory management in the current dlls.

I believe on the Project Parallax Remastered page there is an "Parallax Only" config there. Might be a good starting place.

It appears that as long as you are running a reasonably new ENB DLL and have "Fix Parallax Bugs = true" then you should be good to go. I'll try it and see if the basic ENBoost will support those features.

Just the basic plugin required for enboost only should be all you need. You might have to turn parallax "on" but if that's the case we are talking about only seconds of time here.
