Hi,

I've spent weeks building a new list and am the point where I'm ready to make my LOD output.  When I run Texgen I get an error about duplicate FormID's. I've read many things and tried solutions but no joy.  I'd like to learn how to fix there instead of just blowing there merge I made away and redoing it. If that's what need to do so be it, but any pro tips would greatly appreciated.  Error and log below.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks for replying. I've read that. Created using zEdit

I tried resaving in CK but still got same error with different formid and then would not load again in CK or ssedit they just crashed so I rebuilt the merge and got the original error formid again in texgen

These errors need to be fixed.

Ignore wrong advice to temporarily disable plugins.

One of the plugins being merged is bad or zEdit doesn't merge correctly. I'm not familiar with zEdit.

You could try one of these things:

  • Open each plugin to merge in xEdit and Check for Errors.
  • Omit one of the plugins from the merge, and redo the merge until it's good.
  • Seek help from the zEdit community.

If you find one or more bad plugins, fix them before attempting to merge them.

Please use spoilers for huge text dumps in posts (the 'eye' icon in the editor)... or simply attach the file itself. I've edited your post likewise.

Ok it has something to do with these 2.  I checked both in ssedit for errors but found none.  Texgen ran successfully after I removed them from merge.  I re read notes on both mod pages and didn't see anything referencing this type of error, it's beyond my skill level to isolate it any further.

Appreciated the help :P

Assuming you're using the latest version of both these 2 mods, their plugin should be ESL-flagged (aka ESPFE, aka light plugin).

  • Merging ESL-flagged plugins is unnecessary. It's unlikely you have more than ~4000 light plugins in your load order, so you don't need to merge light plugins to go under the limit.
  • AFAIK zedit doesn't support light plugins (see https://github.com/z-edit/zedit/issues/94).

The issue is likely caused by zEdit botching the merge. But you don't need to use it with these 2 mods.

Regardless, see also https://dyndolod.info/Help/Merged-Plugins about using DynDOLOD with merged plugins.

Thanks. I know about the ESL thing, I've got 1381 plugins keeping track of all the details is a task in self. I've spent the 18+ months learning so much and still only at beginner-intermediate level. Very much appreciate any advice on my continuing learning curve. zedit is simple to use but lacks the flag details for some mods so can get tad messy when building merges.  This is my first bigger build the work you guys put in and know is amazing.  Think I need to slow down and just use good old pen and paper for notes when doing merges etc.

Last I checked, Mator wasn't updating his modding applications over the past year or more in some cases. I don't use any of them for this reason.

Not that software requires constant updates once polished, but in these cases, I think they do.

ok, Is there a better tool to use?  I've only looked at wrye bash and need to get better with ssedit.

Sorry, no. Only xEdit (and any suitable [credible] scripts for your needs to make things simpler) will do. There's lots of useful xEdit scripts out there. Using xEdit is fairly simple. It's the filters and 'hidden' functions only accessible using the kb (I think) that can be a bit intimidating. You can start with Step's xEdit guide. I know Tech has been updating it recently.
