Is there a better way to do this or?

Just install as any other mod. There is no need to manually create an empty mod or anything.

A mod file is set of files and folders under a parent 'Data' folder, packaged into a compressed archive (.zip, .7z, .rar). Mod Organizer 2 can install any mod file like this, whether it was downloaded from Nexus, from moddb, or any other site, or stored locally on your devices.
